This article contains spoilers for The Orville, Star Trek: The Original Series, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Featuring broad comedy and characters who don’t seem to be taking their jobs very seriously, the first trailer for The Orville suggested that the Fox series would be a spoof of Star Trek.
In said trailer, Captain Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) tries to eat a marble and asks an alien to move over so he is framed better in the viewscreen. Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) drinks beer while on duty, flying a shuttle, at 9:15 a.m. Commander Kelly Grayson’s (Adrianne Palicki) former marriage to Mercer is treated to rather stale “comic” arguments about going to therapy. Mercer’s reaction to Lt. Commander Bortus’s (Peter Macon) species being entirely male is to observe, with truly cutting and original wit, that they probably don’t have many arguments about leaving the toilet seat up.

Commander Kelly Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) is unarguably the deuteragonist in The Orville. She is ready to go to any length to keep the crew safe and as the First Officer aboard the USS Orville, she works closely with Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane), her ex-husband. Despite their chaotic relationship, the former couple accomplished great things on their missions. Portrayed by American Palicki, Commander Kelly Grayson is one of the bravest and most responsible among the crew members. She grew up having big dreams of finding love, becoming a ship captain, and making the galaxy a better place. Commander Grayson did...

If you’re one of the many fans waiting to hear about Season 4 of The Orville – the best Star Trek series around that’s not actually called Star Trek – star Adrianne Palicki doesn’t have good news for you right now.
“I mean, there have been talks,” says Palicki, who plays the Orville’s first officer, Kelly Grayson, opposite creator and star Seth MacFarlane’s Captain Ed Mercer. “There have been rumblings about it, but there’s nothing official.”
While Palicki doesn’t have more concrete news about when or if The Orville will follow up its acclaimed third season, she does have some specific ideas about what she’d like to see happen if in fact the title starship does continue its voyages around the galaxy.
“I would like to see Kelly take over as captain,” she says with a laugh. “I mean, she pretty much is anyway. But I don’t know,...

The Orville‘s lonnnng-awaited upcoming mission has been delayed a bit more, with the Season 3 premiere date (on its new Hulu home) moving from March 10 to June 2.
“As occasionally happens, our show has been repositioned amidst the ever-changing television schedule landscape, which means that the wait will be just a bit longer,” series creator and star Seth MacFarlane explained on Twitter. “We understand your frustration… so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come” — in the form of the new season’s first four minutes, including a nightmarish cold open and sleek new opening credits.

Willis plays a retired cop who rescues a hiker from drug dealers in this hamfisted paean to ‘open carry’ gun laws
Bruce Willis is trudging pretty wearily through the motions in this straight-to-digital-oblivion crime thriller, one of those strange films that actually begins with a sort of quasi-trailer, mood-montage of the film’s most exciting bits before the opening credits, featuring characters as yet unexplained. The film squanders one or two promising plot ideas, and winds up making a hamfisted paean of praise to the idea of “open carry” gun ownership.
Willis plays retired Philadelphia cop Jack Harris, who has just lost his wife to cancer, and gone to a remote mountain cabin owned by his niece Pam (Kelly Grayson), to get over his loss. While walking thoughtfully in the surrounding woodland, Jack chances across a terrifying situation: corrupt cop Billie Jean (Lala Kent) is about to execute a hiker,...

There’s rarely anything that Star Trek fans like to do more than talk (and argue) about Star Trek, but there’s one thing that an increasing number of them do agree on: Seth MacFarlane’s love letter to Trek, The Orville, has turned out to be surprisingly great.
Family Guy creator MacFarlane first debuted his sci-fi comedy series to a dubious audience back in 2017, and after a wobbly start it gained a faithful fan base. MacFarlane had written himself a plum lead role as the 25th century captain an exploratory space vessel with a diverse crew, and the series has often played with ‘story of the week’ standalone episodes that are more akin to The Next Generation’s glory days than the likes of Star Trek: Discovery, which seemed more interested in sticking with season-long arcs.
Indeed, both shows have their merits but they’re very different, and while...

The Orville ends Season 2 with a swashbuckling homage to Star Wars.
This The Orville review contains spoilers.
The Orville Season 2 Episode 14
“The Road Not Taken” begins with two masked humanoids trying to steal a big ugly looking microwave type device. The Kaylon busts them. The two thieves run away and narrowly escape. It turns out the thieves are Ed and Gordon and the microwave device is a replicator. Ed and Gordon then replicate a Twinkie. While they are enjoying the Twinkie, they are captured by a space scavenger. That space scavenger? None other than Commander Kelly Grayson.
One thing I left out in my last review was that at episode’s end, the younger version of Kelly Grayson, who came from seven years in the past into The Orville present, didn’t lose her memory when she went back to the past. She was supposed to not remember she went...

The latest episode of The Orville Season 2 masterfully reminds us there is no time like the present.
This The Orville review contains spoilers.
The Orville Season 2 Episode 13
The latest episode of The Orville demonstrates why I like the series so much. It takes a typical science fiction trope and skillfully uses it to craft something meaningful for us to think about, in a way that is thoughtful, humorous, and relatable. We all have those past loves to reminisce about who we believe could have been the one if we hadn’t screwed it up. Sometimes we think about what we could have done differently and if there is a chance we could rekindle the love that once was.
In the opening scene of “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow,” Commander Kelly Grayson and Captain Ed Mercer are with Lieutenant Gordon Malloy and Talla Keyali having a great time telling stories about their past over drinks.

We've been waiting a long time for The Orville Season 2 Episode 1 and it was definitely a satisfying return. Goofy, busy, and with a juvenile bent, but ultimately enjoyable.
I'll deal with the one major issue first: the characterization and treatment of Commander Kelly Grayson.
She's second in command of the ship, arguably a better officer than Mercer in many ways, and is making every effort to keep their working relationship Work despite her ex-husband repeatedly declaring his love for her.

So why does she get painted as the emotional, unreasonable one? It was totally maddening to watching Cassius (the new guy) and Ed (the ex) discussing how to "handle" her.
Here's my theory. A woman can't really love a man unless he's part-dope. Be a little stupid every day and really...

Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi comedy adventure series The Orville turned out to be a super entertaining show! It ended up being more than just a Star Trek parody and comedy. It told some great stories and introduced us to some wonderful characters.
It’s almost been a year since Season 1 came to a close, but today we have a new teaser trailer for Season 2 giving us a glimpse at the new missions and epic new adventures that awaits the crew of The Orville. It looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun and I’m excited for the return of this show!

Who can be a Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States? According to the Constitution -- it can pretty much be anyone as there are no age or citizenship requirements to pass.
