Despite delivering Showstopper performances on Sunday night’s episode of “American Idol,” some contestants suffered the toughest cut yet and were sent packing by judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Only 10 contestants moved one step closer to their dream. On March 29, more show-stopping performances took place at the Dolby Theatre before the judges delivered their toughest decisions of season 19.
After the two nights of Showstoppers, only two dozen artists will make the cut. This top tier of performers will then fight it out for the chance to be on the live shows, which begin in early April. At that point, you will be able to predict the outcome of each episode in our predictions center.

And then there were 24. American Idol on Monday officially narrowed down its pool of talent, bringing viewers one step closer to actually having a say in who gets to move forward — which is good, because the judges made some truly questionable calls throughout this process.
Picking up where Sunday’s episode left off, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie delivered the news to Alanis Sophia and Casey Bishop that they’re both going through to the Top 24, which came as a shock to absolutely zero people watching from home.

Between a contestant’s frightening on-stage collapse to an equally frightening performance by future momager Kellyanne Conway, Monday’s American Idol was full of surprises.
But before we dive into the results, here’s a quick reminder of the notable names we lost on Sunday: Ammon Olayan, Brianna Collichio, Cameron McGhar, Celeste Butler, Christian McGuckian, Christian Terry, DJ Johnson, Erika Perry, James Perdue, Liv Grace Blue, Mason Picks, She Nova, Trinity Rose, Tryzdin Grubbs, Vahhley and Yurisbel. (I’d say they’ll all be remembered… but this is Season 19, so let’s not kid ourselves.)

“American Idol” is midway through one of the the most fun stages of the competition, Hollywood Week. Night 7, which airs March 22, sees judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie taking another listen to some of the 150 contestants who got a golden ticket to La La Land. At the end of these seven days, only 40 contenders will make the cut.
Those two score of contestants will then take turns performing on their own and with celebrity guests. Only half of this Top 40 will move on in the competition. And from these Top 20, just 14 contestants will get put through to the live shows, which begin in early April. At that point, you will be able to predict the outcome of each episode in our predictions center.

Bootsy Collins feels a lot of different ways about the way the coronavirus pandemic has put the world on pause, but mostly he’s hopeful that people will take a moment to think about their place in the big picture.
“I think [the pandemic] is a tragic thing and a deep thing, but it gives us a chance to reset and reflect on our lives and what’s important and get our priorities together,” he tells Rolling Stone. “Before this, everybody was just going for it hard. Now I think it’s like,...
