While much of the focus of Victoria Monét’s triple-Grammy haul was on her best new artist win, another trophy represents a historic victory that could help break down more barriers for all women in the music industry — her win for best engineered album.
The white-hot singer-songwriter is the first Black woman to win the award in the show’s 66-year history, since she co-engineered her major-label debut album, Jaguar II.
She is the fourth woman to take home the coveted Grammy, following previous wins by Imogen Heap, Trina Shoemaker and Emily Lazar. When Monét — who writes and produces her music and has crafted hits for Ariana Grande, Blackpink, Chloe x Halle and Chris Brown — speaks to THR a few weeks after that magical night to reflect on the groundbreaking milestone, she says, “It’s a beautiful thing.”
But she also adds that “it says a lot” about the industry.

With every new episode, The Idol is finding itself to come more and more under fire. The show stars Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp in the lead roles. Apart from the two, it also marks the acting debut of Blackpink’s Jennie, who has been making headlines ever since her first appearance in the show’s trailer.
As a new episode of the show recently aired, Jennie’s fans are left divided. As many liked to see how tables turn when the K-Pop star’s character shows its true colours, others are disgusted with her and The Weeknd’s dialogues.
Jennie plays the role of Dyanne, a background dancer and a good friend of Lily-Rose Depp’s Jocelyn. There was a lot of buzz around The Idol ever since its makers released its first trailer. When the show’s first episode aired on June 6, a s*nsual dance performance by Jennie grabbed attention.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from the second episode of HBO’s “The Idol,” titled “Double Fantasy,” now streaming on Max.
The sophomore episode of “The Idol” has arrived, and following last week’s controversial and divisive series premiere, the stakes within the show have been raised. The sex, drugs and industry drama is amped up compared to the first episode in an hour of television sure to start online discourse.
This episode is difficult to watch without considering reports of behind-the-scenes drama that nearly derailed the show. Notably, director Amy Seimetz left the series in April 2022 amid reshoots and shifts in creative direction, including a report that Tesfaye believed that...

Despite being world-famous musicians, the members of Blackpink lead relatively private lives, especially when it comes to any potential romances.
However, it's hard to keep your love life completely private when you're as big a star as a member of Blackpink, especially when rumor has it you're dating a member of the biggest boy band on Earth - and that's exactly the situation Jennie finds herself in these days!
Photos seemingly of Jennie and V from BTS have been leaking consistently since May 2022, and a recent spotting of the pair in Paris in May 2023 has fans starting to believe there's truth behind the Taennie dating rumors.

Showtime is not moving forward with Caroline Suh’s documentary on disgraced comedian Louis C.K., Variety has learned.
The feature-length doc was announced by Paramount Global exec David Nevins at the Edinburgh TV Festival in Scotland last summer. Nevins stepped down in October following internal restructuring.
Suh, who previously directed Netflix documentary “Blackpink: Light Up the Sky,” about K-Pop superstars Blackpink, was set to helm the project about C.K., which was billed as examining the comedian and his downfall as well as the wider #MeToo movement over the past six years.
At the time the project was unveiled, Nevins said the New York Times reporters who broke the story of C.K.’s sexual misconduct were involved in the doc.
“I don’t think the social change that #MetToo has brought about is resolved at all,” Nevins said last summer. “There’s a bit of backlash against #MeToo, who...

Frank Ocean at Coachella should have been a triumphant comeback – a jewel in the crown of US hip-hop’s most enigmatic star. Fans had waited long enough, after all. First scheduled to appear at the festival back in 2020, Ocean was all set to mark his return to music after a lengthy hiatus. Delayed by the pandemic, as well as a family tragedy, he finally joined Puerto Rican reggaeton star Bad Bunny and K-pop princesses Blackpink at the top of the bill for 2023’s outing. Expectations were sky high.
From the die-hard supporters who journeyed to the California desert to the fans across the world tuning into the festival’s live-stream, a lot of people were ready and waiting for his Sunday night set. What a disappointment, then, when the reality fell far short of what was promised. With Ocean coming off as nonchalant and unprepared, and eager fans left frustrated,...

Sales of cassette tapes are at their highest levels in 20 years.
The surge has been driven by high-selling releases from bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, and pop star Harry Styles.
According to new research from The British Phonographic Industry, sales of cassette tapes have risen for 10 consecutive years.
In 2012, the total number of cassette sales was just 3,823. In 2022, the annual figure had risen to 195,000.
However, cassette sales still lag far behind other formats, including vinyl records.
Also among the biggest selling cassette artists was Florence + the Machine. The best-selling cassette album of the year was The Car by Arctic Monkeys, released in October. Harry’s House by Styles followed in second place, while Florence + the Machine’s Dance Fever came in third.

Blackpink just made history at Coachella. The K-pop heavyweights — Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé — performed an almost two-hour-long set of their greatest hits as they closed at a jam-packed second night of Coachella on Saturday.
The performance actually started 30 minutes later than planned, but fans didn’t seem to mind the wait. A group of dancers kicked things off with dramatic choreography, building up the anticipation for the girls. Then, Blackpink appeared behind clouds of smoke and immediately burst into a high-voltage rendition of “Pink Venom” that elicited wild screams and cheers from the crowd.

Twice-impeached and now-indicted former president Donald Trump made a point to compliment a female employee of Chinese president Xi Jingping during his interview with Tucker Carlson this week, and on Wednesday night, CBS late night host James Corden was simply exhausted by it.
In the interview on Tuesday, Trump spent a fair bit of time complimenting Chinese leader Xi Jinping, calling him “a brilliant man” and saying no one could ever capture his “look, the brain, the whole thing.” Trump then complimented Jinping’s translator for some reason.
“He had an incredible — I’m not allowed to say it because it’s very impolite and very politically incorrect — a beautiful female interpreter,” Trump said.
In watching the clip on Wednesday night’s show, Corden simply hung his head in his hand in exasperation.

The U.S. government is currently trying to track down the source of a massive leak of military intel, but James Corden is pretty sure he already knows who the culprit was: President Joe Biden.
The “Late Late Show” host offered his guess on the matter Monday night to kick off his news segment. It’s being considered one of the most high-profile lapses in security in decades, but a lot of info remains unclear in this situation.
“It’s unknown who obtained the documents, who leaked the documents online, or if they’ve been altered in any way at all. But besides those minor details, the government knows exactly what’s going on,” Corden joked.
