Viacom, which owns MTV and Nickelodeon, is going back into business with Liza Koshy, who has previously been tapped to host two of the media giant's flagship series: Trl and Double Dare, respectively.
Next week, Koshy will team with famed radio DJ Charlamagne Tha God to co-host MTV’s Election Afterparty, airing on Nov. 6. Taking place at Miami Dade College, the event will kick off after the polls close in Florida (where the gubernatorial race is particularly contentious), and will celebrate the efforts of young people across the nation who tendered their votes. Special guests slated to appear include transgender activist Jazz Jennings and March For Our Lives co-founders (and Stoneman Douglas shooting survivors) David Hogg, Delaney Tarr, and Jaclyn Corin. Ex-Fifth Harmony singer Lauren Jaurequi will perform live.
Free tickets to the Election Afterparty are available here.

As a general rule, young people aren’t great at showing up on election day. Among the many, many people who’d like to see that change is Darren Aronofsky, who has produced a PSA calling on Generation Z to vote in the midterms on November 6. Turnout among 18-20 year olds who are eligible to make their presence felt at the ballot box for the first time isn’t expected to be high, but it’s clearer than ever that every vote counts.
“First time voters have the power to make a massive impact in the upcoming midterm elections, but 18-20 year olds are part of a demographic that has historically failed to participate in National Elections. It’s time to change that,” said Aronofsky in a statement accompanying the video. “We are working with a dynamic group of activists from all over the country, who care about an array of causes,...

Chris Evans and Zoë Kravitz are opening up about their very first time — voting, that is!
The Marvel stars, alongside Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Chadwick Boseman partnered up for a hilarious and powerful PSA called “My First Time” in which they opened up about the first time they voted.
Playing off of innuendo, the actors and actresses urged citizens to register to vote by Oct. 9 (the voter registration deadline for most states) on behalf of March for Our Lives and We Stand United.
Giggling in embarrassment, Big Little Lies‘ Kravitz playfully said, “My first time was in the back of a firehouse.

Shonda Rhimes will give the keynote speech at a Sept. 28 event to promote civic engagement, and voter registration and turnout ahead of the midterm elections, as part of the La Promise Fund’s Girls Build Summit.
Organizers say about 10,000 young women and girls are expected to attend the event, which is organized in partnership with When We All Vote, which is co-chaired by former First Lady Michelle Obama and has a number of celebrity events planned for that week.
The event will take place at USC’s Galen Center, and also feature Delaney Tarr and Syrah Simon, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. They will have a conversation about grassroots activism with California Secretary of State Alex Padilla.
Rhyon Brown of “Empire” will host the event and DJ Smiles Davis will spin music.

Parkland Students Call Out Florida Politicians, NRA After Jacksonville Shooting: ‘Enough of Your Bs’
Parkland students David Hogg and Delaney Tarr were among those who reacted to the Jacksonville, Fla. shooting on Sunday. According to the Jacksonville police department, there were “multiple fatalities” after a gunman opened fire at a “Madden NFL 19” livestream competition.
Many survivors of the Parkland shooting, including Hogg and Tarr, became activists against gun violence after former student Nikolas Cruz killed 17 students and teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018. Parkland is roughly 300 miles from Jacksonville.
Using the hashtag #AnotherFLShooting, Hogg said change will not come unless people vote in November. He directed a question to Florida Senator Marco Rubio, asking, “How many mass shootings in your state will it take for you to do something?”
While @50milesmore , @MFOLBoston and I were marching against gun violence in front of Smith and Wesson another shooting occurred in Jacksonville, Fl in yet #AnotherFLshooting . We know change will not come until...
