Wednesday’s “Survivor: Ghost Island” season finale was one for the record books, as Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland tied for the win at the final tribal council. In the end, non-tied finalist Laurel Johnson was given the power to cast the deciding vote and she chose Wendell, with whom she had a closer personal relationship on the island. While some of our readers are happy that Wendell joined the “Survivor” winners list, the vast majority believe that Domenick was robbed.

We knew the final vote would be close, but who could have predicted it would be This close? After 36 seasons, “Survivor” history was made during Wednesday’s “Ghost Island” finale when Wendell Holland and Domenick Abbate tied for the win. They both received five votes from the 10-person jury, while the third finalist Laurel Johnson received no votes. Did this mean that Wendell and Domenick got to split the $1 million prize? Not so fast!

Wednesday night the Season 36 finale of “Survivor” airs with six players still in the hunt to be named the sole survivor of “Ghost Island.” Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Laurel Johnson have been in an unbreakable, albeit secret, alliance and friendship since the merge. Last week, their other ally, Donathan Hurley, turned against them, coming up short of the big move he needed to wrestle away control. On the periphery and sticking to the old school mentality of tribal loyalty are Sebastian Noel and Angela Perkins. With hidden idols, secret advantages, another trip to ghost island and at least two immunity challenges left, the million dollar prize is anyone’s to claim! Or is it?
Below I give my reasons why Domenick and Wendell are the only two left with an actual shot at winning and hypothesize what the other four need in order to have a chance. Agree or disagree with my assessment?...

Wednesday night on CBS, the final seven “Survivor: Ghost Island” castaways fought for a chance of making next week’s season finale. Gold Derby’s predicted winner, Wendell Holland, was once again a target because of his secret advantages and alliance with Domenick Abbate and Sebastian Noel. Wendell’s time on the island nearly came to an end in the loved ones episode when Kellyn rallied the other Naviti girls to send him home after their original target, Domenick Abbate, wound up winning immunity. Kellyn, Angela Perkins and Chelsea Townsend feared that Wendell and Domenick were too powerful, and that one or both had hidden idols, which helped clinch their plan to vote for Wendell. However, things didn’t end up going according to plan.

Following the elimination of Chelsea Townsend on this week’s emotional loved ones episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island,” we had a chance to ask her five burning questions. Check out Chelsea’s written responses below — but first, a quick recap. While this 25-year-old Los Angeles resident was sparely seen during the first half of the game, she made a name for herself after the merge by winning back-to-back immunity challenges.
Unfortunately, Chelsea’s physical stamina made her too much of a threat, so the dominating five-person alliance of Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland, Sebastian Noel, Donathan Hurley and Laurel Johnson voted her out in eighth place. Chelsea, Kellyn Bechtold and Angela Perkins — the so-called “Naviti girls” — tried to send home Wendell, but they were simply outnumbered. Here now is our exit interview with Chelsea:

After last week’s shocking double elimination, we’re down to the Top 8 on “Survivor: Ghost Island.” Because there’s an even split of four women and four men, we’re dividing this week’s power rankings up by gender. On top for the women are Kellyn Bechtold and Laurel Johnson, allies by way of their mutual relationships with Domenick Abbate and Wendell Holland, but who in the last tribal council voted against one another out of fear that an idol would be used. I’m not sure there’s any path for both of these women to make it to the final tribal council together, but personally I think that’d be the most competitive end to the season.

We’re down to the Top 10 on “Survivor: Ghost Island,” which means it’s the perfect time to split the remaining players into a field of five that can win and five that are most in danger. First up, Donathan Hurley and Angela Perkins could possibly be seen as winners if we’re only looking at the edit, but for different reasons they’re both likely to be cut from the competition before getting anywhere near the finale. Meanwhile, Sebastian Noel, Chelsea Townsend and Jenna Bowman have had (objectively speaking) nearly invisible edits all season — none of them have been shown as strategists of any sort and, sadly, that simply means the producers have no vested interest in depicting them as deserving of the win.

Domenick Abbate has managed to keep his legacy advantage a secret thus far on “Survivor: Ghost Island,” but he’s about to make a tough decision on whether to finally use it. The rules say that the legacy advantage, which gives the bearer immunity, can only be used when there are 13 people left in the game or when there are six people left in the game. Wednesday’s all-new episode will feature the highly anticipated merge, when the three tribes come together as one and the remaining 13 castaways start their individual games. Will Domenick play his legacy advantage now, or hold it until the Final 6? Give your thoughts by voting down in our poll.

Who was voted out in Wednesday’s seventh episode of CBS’s “Survivor: Ghost Island”? Heading into the episode, the Malolo tribe had a lot to prove as they hadn’t won a single challenge since way back in Episode 3. However, the four current tribe members — Michael Yerger, Desiree Afuye, Kellyn Bechtold and Angela Perkins — tried to “reverse the curse” by burning their tribe flag. Did their controversial act appease the “Survivor” gods? And were Gold Derby’s predictions correct that Bradley Kleihege went home this week?

After being voted out of “Survivor: Ghost Island” in Wednesday’s sixth episode, James Lim tells us that he was simply outnumbered following the season’s second tribe swap. “I thought I had done a pretty good job of flipping Angela Perkins to our side,” James readily admits. “But Kellyn Bechtold on the other side was playing this game of tug-of-war with me with Angela in the middle, and she won at the end with her narrative of Naviti strong.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview podcast above.

Who was voted out in Wednesday’s sixth episode of CBS’s “Survivor: Ghost Island”? Prior to the episode airing, Gold Derby’s exclusive odds predicted that Malolo’s Bradley Kleihege would be eliminated following the season’s second tribe swap. However, Jeff Probst‘s tease that there’d be a “brand new start to Ghost Island” was sure to shake up the game. So did our “Survivor” predictions come true this week?

According to Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, the ever-growing feud between Chris Noble and Domenick Abbate will reach its apex on Wednesday’s fifth episode of “Survivor,” titled “A Diamond In The Rough.” These two castaways have been going at each others’ throats since Day 1, despite Domenick trying to make good with Chris by showing him his [fake] hidden immunity idol. The only problem? Chris recognized that the idol was likely fake, so all trust was lost. Our predictions favor Chris to go home this week with leading 8/5 odds, while Domenick looks to be safe as he only has 50/1 odds.

The new version of the Maolo tribe will win both the Reward and Immunity challenges on the March 14 episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” That will put someone from the Naviti tribe in the crosshairs for elimination at the end of the episode entitled “Trust Your Gut.” It looks like Chris Noble, who was one of the original members of that team, will be sent packing at the tribal council. For a preview of the episode, including a closer look at both challenges, click through the photos above.
After the swap in episode three, the Naviti tribe is comprised of three original members besides Noble — Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins — and four Malolo players: Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If Noble is bounced, that means that some of his original teammates turned against him.
The Malolo tribe still has Jenna Bowman, Stephanie Johnson, Brendan Shapiro and Michael Yerger.

According to Gold Derby’s exclusive predictions, Brooklyn, New York resident Chris Noble will be voted out of “Survivor” following his brief stint at Ghost Island. After last week’s tribe swap, Chris remained on the Naviti tribe along with original members Morgan Ricke, Domenick Abbate, Wendell Holland and Angela Perkins. The four Malolo players who joined them were Donathan Hurley, Laurel Johnson, James Lim and Libby Vincek. If our predictions hold true that Chris is headed home, does that mean Domenick, Wendell and/or Angela abandon their old Naviti tribal lines and join up with the Malolo castaways?

Is the “Survivor” legacy advantage actually cursed? That’s what we asked Morgan Ricke following her elimination from the third episode of “Survivor: Ghost Island.” “You know, I’ve said all along I don’t believe in curses. But Sierra Dawn Thomas opened her mouth, so it was cursed. And then Jacob Derwin opened his mouth and told Stephanie, so it was cursed. So you know what? I kept my mouth closed. Everyone keeps telling everyone about this advantage, so we’ll all see together if I was able to reverse the curse by keeping my mouth shut for once.” Listen to our “Survivor” exit interview podcast above.
