“Top Chef” Season 18 premieres Thursday, introducing fans to the 15 chefs who will be competing for the title in Portland during this installment. The supersized kickoff to the season will also give viewers an understanding of what changes had to be made in order to film this pandemic-produced “Top Chef.”
And one of the first things “Top Chef” obsessives will probably be wondering about — once they see the accommodations in the first episode — is how fan-favorite challenge Restaurant Wars is going to look when it comes around later this season. After all, Covid-19 has made running established restaurants almost impossible, so how would “Top Chef” contestants manage to safely throw together and run the pop-ups that are a staple of that particular competition?
Luckily, TheWrap has the answer.

Top Chef: Kentucky has just four contestants as of the Thursday, March 7 episode and we need to take a moment to marvel: It's three women and a black man. Eric Adjepong, Sara Bradley, Kelsey Barnard Clark and Michelle Minori are all that remain of the 15 contestants who put their knives to good use throughout season 16. With just one more round before the finals, Top Chef: Kentucky could have an all-female final competition. In "The Tase of Macau," airing Thursday, March 7 at 8 p.m. on Bravo, the four contestants must cook with the world's smelliest fruit, durian. The fruit is a delicacy in...

Last week on “Top Chef” Season 16, Midwestern contestant Kevin Scharpf was the one who heard those unappetizing final words, “Please pack your knives and go” after his oddly salty yuletide dessert got him booted. But he managed to squeak by during the online “Last Chance Kitchen” challenge that required him, Natalie Maronski (in her second round on the after-show) and Season 15 returnees Brother Luck and Carrie Baird to make a Christmas morning breakfast. Alas, Baird decided to do a version of the “fancy toast” similar to what got her a win in the past. Too bad Tom Colicchio was not impressed with the results this time.

On paper Carrie looks to have a head start on the other three players. She’s won three Quickfire challenges and two Elimination challenges, making her the most successful chef in the top four. However, Carrie appeared in the bottom two in last week’s episode, calling into question whether she has the stamina to make it to the end.
