Exclusive: Emmy nominee Jake Lacy (The White Lotus) is set to star opposite Kiefer Sutherland in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Deadline has learned. He is set to portray Stephen Maryk, Queeg’s (Sutherland) executive officer aboard Caine, and the officer who relieved Queeg of duty.
The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial is an update on the 1953 play by Herman Wouk, itself an adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Caine Mutiny. It hails from Paramount Global Content Distribution for Showtime.
The original story follows a naval officer who stands trial for mutiny after taking command from a ship captain he feels is acting in unstable fashion, endangering both the ship and its crew. While the original is set during World War II, the new project is being updated by director William Friedkin.

“The White Lotus”, creator Mike White’s Emmy-winning social satire, is officially returning with season 3. Like the first two, the new instalment will take place at another one of the luxury hotel’s exotic locations, where a new group of guests and employees will find their lives clashing in unexpected ways.
Although HBO has not officially revealed any new or returning cast members, including Jennifer Coolidge, or where the new episodes will take place, White has shared some of his ideas while members of the sprawling ensemble have weighed in with Et about whether they would return.
As anticipation builds for another instalment, here’s everything we know about the cast and the location of “The White Lotus” season 3.

This article discusses plot points through The White Lotus season 2 episode 4.
Anthology television series can really be something special on a year-to-year basis if the writers of a show know their themes, continue to rework them in accordance with new characters, and respond to audience trends and desires. This is why a series like American Horror Story continues to be a powerhouse all these years later, and it’s also why True Detective whimpered after its first go-around. The first show has a strong grasp on all of these items of importance, and the latter couldn’t move forward without the novel brilliance of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
The White Lotus clearly knew that it was vital to bring back one character from the first season of the show to bridge the divide in storytelling between the two mini-series. They opted to go with fan-favorite Tanya McQuoid on the...

“A Friend of the Family” isn’t a light lift. In fact, even the person handling 14 hours a day of Adr had to step outside for walks in between editing. The story behind the Peacock series is a true one: Bob “B” Birchtold was a family man who abducted Jan Broberg when she was 12 and again when she was 14 and sexually assaulted her numerous times. He also had sexual encounters with both of her parents.
His crimes were overlooked because of the times but also because he was a trusted man in the community — and trusted by the Broberg family.
Many actors would shy away from tackling such a daunting task as playing Birchtold. Instead, Jake Lacy dove in headfirst, especially after learning that the real Jan Broberg was a producer on the show and that no sexual assault would be shown. In order to get into that disturbing headspace...

Australian Actor Murray Bartlett, ‘The White Lotus’ Standout, Wins First Emmy, Thanks Mom Down Under
The White Lotus breakout star Murray Bartlett claimed the first Emmy of his career tonight, for his outlandish role as Armond, the ingratiating but conniving luxury hotel manager in the HBO limited series.
Taking the stage at the Primetime Emmys, the Australian actor thanked series creator Mike White, and gave a shoutout to his mother.
“I just want to thank my mom all the way home in Australia for giving me the most wonderful foundation of unconditional love,” he said. “And inspiring me to believe that we can all do that for each other. So, thank you, Mom.“
Bartlett’s win (and first nomination ever) for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie put him up against two other co-stars of The White Lotus, Steve Zahn (“Mark Mossbacher”) and Jake Lacy (“Shane Patton”). The other nominees in the category were Will Poulter, Peter Sarsgaard, and Michael Stuhlbarg,...

There are three nominees representing the Hulu limited series “Dopesick.” Michael Stuhlbarg, who was previously nominated in this category for “The Looming Tower” (2018), plays pharmaceutical executive Richard Sackler. Rookie Emmy nominee Will Poulter plays drug sales representative Billy Cutler in “Dopesick” and submitted the seventh episode, “Black Box Warning,” in which Billy becomes disillusioned with Purdue Pharma after learning of a plan to use an Fda warning as a marketing tool to increase sales; he ends up stealing incriminating...

adds”I’m still Tanya,” The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge told Deadline today about the Sicily-set Season 2 of the Emmy-nominated series, “I’m still messed up.”

If you haven't seen the epic finale to Mike White's HBO series The White Lotus, turn back now. (No seriously, there are major spoilers ahead.) From this point on, we're going to dissect how it is that Shane (Jake Lacy) ended up killing Armond (Murray Bartlett). Of course, it was an accident, but there was a lot that led up to this moment. From the get-go, tensions were high between the hotel manager and the privileged newlywed, as Armond made the mistake of double booking the suite that Shane Patton had his eyes on. And though his wife Rachel (Alexandra Daddario) was content to let it go and enjoy the honeymoon, her husband was not—and neither was his mother Kitty (Molly...

This article contains spoilers for The White Lotus.
There’s a moment in the first episode of The White Lotus in which a character heads up to the front desk at the eponymous Hawaiian resort and asks the manager for some activity recommendations. Can he jet ski? Nope, a hurricane came through a few days ago and the water is still too dangerous. Can he water ski? Nope. See aforementioned hurricane. The guest gets visibly peeved, but due to the unflagging hospitality of the harried manager, he shakes it off and keeps searching for something to do.
This was – and, in many cases, still is – our Covid reality. Many Americans were outright annoyed at Mother Nature for being so inconsiderate as to derail all our lives. How very dare she? But, since we couldn’t take it out on Mother Nature herself, the service people who had to wrangle our...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the Season 1 finale of HBO’s The White Lotus.
“Now, we are starting down a very dark road,” Shane Patton (Jake Lacy) says in tonight’s episode of The White Lotus, “and you’d better be sure you really want to go there.”
While the wealthy man-child’s comments are directed toward his new wife Rachel (Alexandra Daddario), they’re certainly not the only ones headed down a “dark road” in Sunday’s finale “Departures,” written and directed by Mike White.
The episode opens on Nicole (Connie Britton) and Mark Mossbacher (Steve Zahn), two of the only people in the series who have managed to stumble upon some kind of happiness. While Mark has been unfaithful in the past, it appears he redeemed himself in the eyes of his wife in last week’s episode, after coming to her rescue, when she...

The rich kids on HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” continuation look a little different than they did in the original series: they take Ubers instead of private cars, they actually think Dumbo is cool and, as many have wrote about, are a lot more woke — a fact made even more clear by the characters’ reading choices.
While sitting on the steps outside of their Upper East Side private school, the elite can be seen reading everything from Kennedy Fraser’s collection of feminist essays, to Eve Babitz’s stories about the hippie craze of the ’60s and ’70s.
