Taylor Swift’s historic fourth Album of the Year win
After Taylor Swift’s Album of the Year win for “Midnights,” Noah claimed she was the first person to win Album of the Year four times. That is not exactly correct — engineers Tom Coyne, Serban Ghenea, and John Hanes had won four times before “Midnights” — but Swift is indeed the first woman and first performer to win this many times, following her victories for “Fearless,” “1989” and “Folklore.” This historic win is a testament to Swift’s ability to make consistently successful albums,...

Beyoncé made the biggest news of the night Sunday at the 65th annual Grammy Awards.
The singer led the 2023 Grammy Awards nominations with a total of nine. Beyoncé’s career total of 88 nominations set a new record — one tied by her husband Jay-Z, who earned five noms this year. During the Premiere Ceremony, the pop star picked up two Grammys, breaking her 28-win tie with Quincy Jones. She also won best R&b song during the live broadcast, for “Cuff It,” tying late conductor Georg Solti’s 31-win record. She wasn’t there to accept that award, having experienced a very L.A. annoyance — being stuck in traffic — but arrived later during the ceremony, with host Trevor Noah presenting her the Grammy while she was seated in the audience. Later in the show, she won best dance/electronic album for Renaissance, beating Solti’s record, with a total of 32 career wins.

The 65th Grammy Awards take place on Sunday 5 February, with music fans preparing for the rematch of the century: Adele vs Beyoncé.
Both artists are up for Album of the Year, six years after Adele took home the top prize for her third record, 25. The win over Beyoncé’s critically adored surprise album Lemonade was highly controversial; Adele herself famously declared that Beyoncé deserved the prize during her acceptance speech.
This year, the British singer is competing with her record-obliterating fourth album, 30, released in 2021. A four-star review in The Independent praised the songs as “handsomely crafted ballads about love and its various agonies”, with Adele’s voice, as ever, the main draw. “Adele possesses that perfectly imperfect voice, gargantuan and frail all at once,” critic Annabel Nugent wrote. “It’s epic without resorting to showy, melismatic affectations. It yawns into unexpected shapes and makes intonation fun.”

Trevor Noah will return as host of the Grammy Awards in February, the Recording Academy announced on Thursday, making his third consecutive appearance as the emcee of music’s proverbially biggest night.
“One of my favorite things about the Grammys as a whole is it is one of the few places where you get to experience artists in their rawest element, which is performing their music live,” Noah said in an interview with Billboard. “Brandi Carlile performing a song live and you’re hearing her voice and listening to her play her instruments — there’s nothing like it. You develop a deep appreciation for what these people are doing beyond just the music that they make.”
Nominees for the awards, which take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Feb. 5, are led by Beyoncé with nine nods, Kendrick Lamar close behind with eight, and Adele and Brandi Carlile tied with seven.

(November 25, 202) – Today, Haitian-Canadian LGBTQ+ artist Tedy releases his EP Manic Party (listen here). Marking the culmination of an incredible year of artistic and personal growth, Manic Party is a portrait of the singer songwriter on the rise. “This album very much came out of the pandemic and spending time focusing on me and my own journey” Tedy says. “I wanted people to get to know me, the real me, and come along for the ride.”
With rich production from Big Taste and Dallas K, Manic Party is a sonically and emotionally rich listening experience. The producers “really tried to understand the process of what I was going through emotionally and musically and helped me create a sound to tell my own story” says Tedy. “It felt so affirming the entire time. Beyonce swept the general field with nominations for “Renaissance” (Album of the Year) and “Break My Soul” (Record of the Year and Song of the Year). Queen Bey also earned bids in R&b, dance, and visual media fields for her work on “Renaissance” and her song “Be Alive” from the “King Richard” motion picture soundtrack. Does this mean she’ll finally win Album of the Year, a category that has eluded her time and again? Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched.
