Monday night during the Semi-finals 2 episode of “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League,” Australian singer Sheldon Riley from “AGT” Season 15 returned to the big stage with his rendition of “golden hour” by Jvke. While Mel B (his mentor), Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell gave him mostly positive comments, Howie Mandel received boos from the studio audience for his harsh criticism of Sheldon’s performance.
“You know, I’m just gonna say what I thought,” Howie declared when it was his turn to speak. “I think you’re one of the best singers we have heard on this show. But tonight, I thought that was way off. I found that way off.” As the crowd reacted negatively to Howie’s comments, he continued on, “Rather than hitting the notes, you were hitting volume, and you stayed in one little plane and it was just loud. Of the 55 acts we know advanced to this round, 21 incorporate some form of singing in their overall talent. That’s over a third of the acts still in the competition, leaving us to wonder whether singing acts have a distinct advantage when it comes to the world’s biggest talent show. In terms of winners, it’s been four years since the last singer, Kodi Lee, claimed victory.

The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the American version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.
Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for a single act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists are allowed to push the button as well for their favorite act. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be a new audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd. Want a refresher on all of the “America’s Got Talent” Golden Buzzers through the years?...

One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.
Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

On the Tuesday, July 11 episode of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18, judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara meet the 82nd Airborne Chorus from North Carolina. The singing military group represents the 19,000 individuals who “support and serve the airborne division” of the U.S. Army. When Simon inquires about their big dream, the leader proudly responds, “We are here to win.” Watch the “AGT” sneak peek video above.
“Last week we lost one of our soldiers, Specialist Elijah Crawford, so we are dedicating this performance to him and all of the soldiers that have passed before him,” declares the group’s spokesman, who noticeably holds back tears. The 82nd Airborne Chorus then begins an up-tempo version of “My Girl” by The Temptations that has the audience smiling and clapping along with every note.

“America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” aired its fifth episode Monday night with 10 more acts performing for a coveted spot in The Finals, which is a mere two weeks away. The new spin-off series features former “Got Talent” contestants from America and beyond, competing in a seven-week showdown to determine which ultimate all-star will claim the title of “Got Talent World Champion.” Longtime series judges Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell and Heidi Klum return to the judges’ panel with Terry Crews on stage for hosting duties.

During Week 5 of “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars,” the superfan voters made their choice for who they want to see in the finale, and it was good news for child ventriloquist Ana-Maria Margean. The talented tyke initially rose to fame when she won “Romania’s Got Talent” 2021, but now she’s taken her puppet skills to the U.S.A. where she’s hoping to prevail again. The only other act from this week that advanced to the finale was Tom Ball, a singer from “Britain’s Got Talent” 2022 who earned the group Golden Buzzer.

As we near the conclusion of the first phase of the “America’s Got Talent: All-Stars” competition, there’s one question on our mind: What do the superfans have against singers? Out of the 40 acts to perform in the first round so far, a quarter of them can be considered vocal talents, but only chorale group Detroit Youth Choir has advanced, and that was thanks to a Golden Buzzer from Terry Crews. The nine other singers failed to earn enough votes from the superfans and were eliminated, but why?
Among the singing acts eliminated so far are former Golden Buzzer acts Cristina Rae and Sara James as well as champions of “Canada’s Got Talent” and “Dominica’s Got Talent” Jeanick Fournier and Keren Montero. Both Jeanick and Keren placed within the top three with the superfans on their respective episodes, as did Caly Bevier and Ndlovu Youth Choir. None of...

Who’s performing tonight on “America’s Got Talent“? The Season 17 live shows continue August 30 on NBC with the Qualifiers 4 group. Among this week’s contenders are metal singer Harper, a 10-year-old girl with an eye-popping voice, and ventriloquist Jack Williams, who is angling to join the winners list alongside Darci Lynne Farmer and Terry Fator. Remember, this year the live shows have gotten a major facelift. Gone are the days of Quarter-Finals followed by Semi-Finals. Instead, there will only be five Qualifiers rounds, with two out of 11 acts advancing from each group — yes, that means nine acts will go home each week.
This lineup notably includes Heidi Klum‘s Golden Buzzer act Lily Meola, a 27-year-old singer from Hawaii who previously sang an original song about losing her mother. So far on Season 17, Golden Buzzer acts have had a noticeable advantage when it comes to America’s votes. Indeed, all...

On Wednesday night, “America’s Got Talent” said goodbye to a jaw-dropping number of acts (nine) during the third live results show of Season 17. The Qualifiers 3 episode of “America’s Got Talent” aired Tuesday, August 23 on NBC with 11 acts performing live on the big stage. One of those acts was Celia Munoz, a 36-year-old singing ventriloquist from Madrid, Spain who went viral with her earlier audition. Celia is a trained opera singer who has only been performing ventriloquism for a few years. Her gimmick is that she performs without a puppet and makes all kinds of sound effects and voices instead. Watch the “AGT” video above, in which Celia paid tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

NBC has confirmed to Gold Derby that the “America’s Got Talent” 2022 live shows will begin Tuesday, August 9, with the first results show taking place Wednesday, August 10. Ever since Sofia Vergara became a judge on “America’s Got Talent” in 2020, there have been several remarks about her being a ventriloquist — or, as she adorably pronounces it, “ventriquolist.” But is Sofia Vergara really a ventriloquist? To answer that question, we need to go back to her former job as one of the stars of “Modern Family.”
During her 11-year run on the ABC family comedy, the Colombian-American actress earned four Emmy nominations for playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, the wife of Jay (Ed O’Neill) and the mother of Manny (Rico Rodriguez). Obviously, over the span of 250 episodes, the show’s characters would occasionally venture outside of their normal comfort zones and do wild things for entertainment purposes, and one such story line involved Gloria becoming, yep, a ventriloquist.

Has “America’s Got Talent” found its next ventriloquist superstar? Terry Fator (Season 2) and Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12) have already won the NBC reality TV show thanks to their hilarious talents voicing puppets, and now Jack Williams is hoping to join them. The Indianapolis resident will audition during the upcoming Tuesday, June 14 episode, but NBC has already released a sneak peek video of his performance (watch above).

Longtime viewers of “America’s Got Talent” are used to seeing amazing magicians wow the judges with their mesmerizing tricks — just look at past winners Mat Franco (Season 9) and Shin Lim (Season 13). On Tuesday’s episode, Patrick Kun entered the competition and immediately became a threat to win the reality TV show thanks to his incredible card tricks that left all four “AGT” judges with their jaws on the floor. Simon Cowell even admitted that what he witnessed “can’t be explained” by anything other than the fact that magic is real. Watch the video above.
Patrick started out by explaining that he wants to do magic for the rest of his life, adding with a wink, “I sold my soul a long time ago.” The Pittsburgh resident is newly married, but revealed his wife isn’t such a big fan of magic anymore because, “She thinks I love magic more than her.

This week’s episode of “America’s Got Talent” Season 16 taught us all something very important: none of the judges watch “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
The first act to take the stage on Tuesday night was Beyond Belief Dance, a girl dance group whose teacher was a “fearless, fabulous” drag queen named Justin (watch above). No one on “AGT” seemed to realize that Justin was actually “Drag Race” alum Alyssa Edwards, aka the sixth place finisher in Season 5 and the fifth place contender in “All Stars 2.” The Texas diva later popped up as a Lip Sync Assassin in “All Stars 5” where she battled, and lost, against ultimate winner Shea Coulee.

From the very first season when 11-year-old Bianca Ryan prevailed, to more recently with 12-year-old champs Grace VanderWaal and Darci Lynne Farmer, NBC’s reality TV show has always shone a spotlight on talented tykes. For its 16th season, which premiered Tuesday night (read our live blog), there’s a new kid on the block that we’re keeping our eye on: 10-year-old Peter Rosalita. Re-watch his powerful “AGT” audition video above.

Dressed in a stylish cream-colored suit, Peter immediately endeared himself to the judges when he repeatedly tapped his microphone and asked, “Hello? Hello?” He explained how he was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates but now lives in the Philippines. If Peter makes it all the way to the end of the show,...

Unlike the flagship “America’s Got Talent” series, which recently conducted virtual auditions for the upcoming 16th season, there were never any plans for “The Champions” to be an annual event. Magician Shin Lim turned 13 into a lucky number.
