Harare, July 28 (Ians) Considered at one time to be among the most explosive and dynamic bowlers in the white-ball game, former India pacer S. Sreesanth introduced himself to the Zim Afro T10 with a game-changing over.
Defending eight runs for the Eoin Morgan-led Harare Hurricanes against the high-flying Cape Town Samp Army, Sreesanth, first picked a wicket and then effected a run-out as the Hurricanes tied the game and then won it in the Super Over in dramatic fashion.
The 40-year-old was understandably delighted, and said, “I am just very happy and would like to thank the Harare Hurricanes team management for giving me an opportunity here in the Zim Afro T10 which is being played at the Harare Sports Club. The team management and the members are very close to my heart, and I was just waiting for one opportunity.”

New Delhi, May 10 (Ians) Delhi Capitals travel down South to take on heavyweights Chennai Super Kings (Csk) in the latter’s den i.e. Chepauk, on Wednesday. The David Warner-led side must be high on confidence following the scintillating win over Rcb at home.
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh reckons two consecutive victories must have taken the confidence of this team to the next level but the lack of runs from Warner’s bat is a concern for DC – who are sitting at the bottom of the table.
Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Harbhajan said, “Delhi Capitals’ confidence has increased after winning two consecutive matches but captain David Warner’s lack of runs in the last few matches is a cause of concern. Yes, some young players have come forward and taken responsibility but Delhi’s problem still remains where it started. They were at the last place then and still are.

Cricket has only featured once in the Olympic Games and has thrived as a sport in the intervening century without being part of the Olympic movement. However, there have been talks that cricket may feature in the Olympics in the future.
Speaking with Ians here on Saturday, Khanna shared his thoughts on the format.
"I think this (10-over cricket) format is something which will be more suited for games such as the Olympics. Being short, you can have one venue and play three-four matches in a day even more. There is no Olympic sport that is more than 90 minutes. I am sure the Olympic committee would be working on getting cricket in the Olympics, I feel T10 is the best format for it," Khanna emphasised.
Khanna is the former manager of Rajasthan Royals and he credits the Ipl for shaping his sports management career.
"Ipl is the baap (father) of all leagues.

Abu Dhabi, Nov 28 (Ians) One of the most followed cricketers in the modern day has been India’s S Sreesanth, for his impeccable seam bowling abilities and his mercurial ways, and also for the unsavoury incidents related to the match-fixing and the darker side of the game.
A part of the Indian team that won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the 2011 Odi World Cup at home, Sreesanth’s storied career now sees him in the role of a mentor with the Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangla Tigers in the sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi T10.
Speaking about the T10 from the point of view of a bowler, Sreesanth said, “It’s the fastest format and it’s a lot of fun. And when you’re bowling to dangerous batters, you have to back yourself. As a bowler, you have to believe you can get wickets and not...

Mumbai, Oct 17 (Ians) Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa has praised the confidence level of ex-skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, saying he was instrumental in the team winning the nerve-wracking group match against Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Uthappa said September 14, 2007 will remain etched in his memory forever after the arch-rivals played out a thriller in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in Durban. This was a match which was a sign of things to come, as the Dhoni era in Indian cricket began with this epic win in the tournament.
Put in to bat, India rode on Uthappa’s superb half-century and Dhoni’s 33 to post 141/9 in their 20 overs, with Mohammad Asif taking four wickets for Pakistan.
In the run chase, the match swung wildly. Even though Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals, Misbah-ul-Haq kept his side in the hunt. It came down to 12 runs needed off the last six deliveries,...

Cuttack, Sep 27 (Ians) Gujarat Giants had stalwarts Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle in their batting arsenal, yet Bhilwara Kings outshone them with a royal batting display in the 9th game of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) at the Barabati Stadium on Tuesday.
A collective effort with the bat saw the Kings tear apart the Giants’ bowling attack to post 222/4. Then their bowlers backed up the batters’ effort by keeping a tight leash on the Giants’ powerful batting line-up. The Giants were all out for 165 to give the Kings a 57-run victory.
With this win, the Kings, who lost narrowly to Manipal Tigers on Monday, now have five points, the same as the Giants and India Capitals.
The tough chase never took off for the Giants as they kept losing key wickets. The in-form Kevin O’Brien was out in the second over, which saw captain Sehwag join ‘Universe Boss’ Gayle at the crease.

Cuttack, Sep 26 (Ians) After losing their last match against India Capitals, Gujarat Giants will be looking to make amends and a strong comeback in the Sky247.net Legends League Cricket (LLC) when they take on Bhilwara Kings at the Barabati Stadium on Tuesday.
Gujarat Giants will be hugely relying on Tillakaratne Dilshan to do the job for them. In his heydays, Dilshan was known for his aggressive batting style, technique and timing. All that mastery was on show on Sunday when he hit an unbeaten 75 off 59 balls against India Capitals.
The former Sri Lanka stalwart, who captained the Giants in place of Virender Sehwag, treated and thrilled the fans with beautiful shots all around the park, giving the bowlers no respite. Eventually, though, his terrific knock went in vain.
Dilshan, though, will hope to continue in the same form on Tuesday. But it won’t be easy.

New Delhi, Sep 23 (Ians) The final of Legends League Cricket (LLC) will be held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack October 5, the organisers annonced on Friday.
Legendary cricketers described the League as “serious” business where the superstars, many of whom are as efficient as they were in their prime, do not yield an inch without a fight.
While former India batter Mohammed Kaif covered a lot of ground near the fence before taking a diving catch and made the fans nostalgic about his brilliant fielding skills, the swashbuckler Yusuf Pathan has been playing as if he has never retired. Stars like Kevin O’Brien and Ashley Nurse have also hit scintillating centuries.
All this has generated a tremendous response from the fans, said Raman Raheja, the Co-Founder and CEO of Legends League Cricket.

New Delhi, Sep 14 (Ians) In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (Bcci) plea in connection with the amendments proposed to its constitution to relax the cooling-off period requirement.
Accordingly, the cooling-off period for office-bearers will kick in after two consecutive terms at either the Bcci or at the state association level. So the office-bearers can now have a maximum of 12 years at one go: Two three-year terms at the state association level and two three-year terms at the Bcci, and after this, the cooling-off period will be applicable.
The decision will allow the current set of office-bearers led by Bcci President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah to be in office until 2025. Ganguly and Shah had already served one term each at the state and Bcci level and would have been disqualified under the existing rule.
