Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has continued the practice of garnishing the wages of student loan borrowers who are in default, according to a lawsuit filed on Thursday.
The suit, brought by a New York woman on behalf of about 285,000 borrowers, claims that DeVos and her department have not halted collection practices even though the secretary made an official announcement, on March 25, stating that the seizure of wages and tax refunds will automatically stop. Devos also promised a refund of approximately $1.8 billion of all wages seized since March 13.

“You are the most unpopular person in our government,” Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) told Education Secretary Betsy DeVos on Thursday. DeVos appeared before the House Education and Labor committee to defend a student debt policy and Wilson had some strong words for the secretary.
Under the Obama administration the “borrower’s defense” policy was put in place so students who fell victim to fraud from for-profit institutions would receive full financial relief. But under President Donald Trump, DeVos has adjusted the way the policy works. Now victims of fraud...

Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly told the Washington Examiner that the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump “pains him” and that during his final days on the job, he warned the president not to hire a “yes man” or “you will be impeached.”
Kelly said that while the process of finding his replacement was underway, he told the president, “Whatever you do, don’t hire a ‘yes man,’ someone who won’t tell you the truth — don’t do that,” Kelly warned. “Because if you do, I believe you will be impeached.

James Woods has made a reputation for himself as one of Hollywood’s most vocal conservative voices on Twitter. He’s suggested that his opinions online have taken him from once being a Hollywood A-lister in films such as “Casino,” “Videodrome” and “Vampires” to now being “blacklisted.” And this July 4, his agent went as far as to drop him, saying in an email that Woods shared on Twitter, “It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say.” Of course, Woods labeled his former agent a “political liberal” and let him know how he felt. But this exchange is the capper to a long line of provocative opinions, many of which have sparked outrage on both sides of the political spectrum.

Since taking office on Jan. 20, 2017, President Donald Trump has frequently drawn public ire for his comments, many of which have been labeled inflammatory at best, and dangerous, racist or sexist at worst.
As Trump marks the one-year anniversary of his inauguration, here’s a look back at some of his most contentious statements in office.
1. On ‘s–thole’ countries
Most recently, Trump was widely denounced for his reported comments describing Haiti, El Salvador and some African nations as “s–thole” countries during an immigration meeting last week with lawmakers of both parties.
“Why are we having all these people from s–thole countries come here?...

Doug Jones’ upset in Alabama might not have been the only drama roiling the Trump White House on Tuesday night.
Multiple sources report that Apprentice contestant Omarosa Manigault Newman, whose resignation from her position with the Trump administration was announced Wednesday, did not leave the White House voluntarily and had to be physically restrained and escorted off the White House grounds.
April Ryan, a White House correspondent who has feuded with Manigault Newman, tells People that there was “drama” that involved Manigault Newman “cussing” before she was removed.

The White House is officially saying Omarosa quietly resigned, but multiple sources tell TMZ there was plenty of drama between her, Donald Trump and his Chief of Staff prior to her departure. Sources close to Omarosa tell us she started thinking about resigning back in August after the Charlottesville riots, because she disagreed with Trump's handling of the crisis. We're told she took issue with Trump saying there were good people on both sides ... which,...

[[tmz:video id="0_y8nvbln3"]] Elon Musk doesn't care if President Trump or Buzz Aldrin himself says it -- he's all for sending humans back to the moon. We got Tesla's CEO leaving No Name Club in WeHo Monday night and asked what he thought of Trump's Space Policy Directive 1, which orders Nasa to start working on a program to send astronauts back to the moon and, eventually, Mars. Elon might as well have screamed "To Infinity and Beyond," 'cause...
