Dierks Bentley knows it’s a weird time to be promoting things that are funny and ridiculous, what with the ongoing stress and loss associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. But maybe, he argues, funny and ridiculous things can be a welcome respite.
“This interview popped up and I was like, ‘Is this the right time to be talking about Hot Country Knights with all that’s going on in the world?’” Bentley says, calling from Colorado where he and his family extended their spring break vacation through the first part of the quarantine.

Dierks Bentley and his faux-real Nineties-country band Hot Country Knights are dressed like they’re about to charge into a medieval battle in space on the cover of their debut album The K Is Silent. Produced by Bentley, the music-meets-comedy project comes out via Universal Music Nashville on May 1st.
In addition to the previously released “Pick Her Up” with Travis Tritt, and the posterior-praising “Asphalt,” The K Is Silent features some evocative song titles such as “Moose Knuckle Shuffle,” “Wrangler Danger,” and “The USA Begins With Us.” Terri Clark...

Riding a neon wave of Nineties country nostalgia, the Hot Country Knights have unleashed their video for “Pick Her Up,” the group’s exhilarating debut single featuring Travis Tritt.
Directed by Wes Edwards, the clip features Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills 90210 actress Tiffani Thiessen as the object of affection for an average guy whose off-kilter instruction from the band includes line-dancing moves, awkward French-kissing practice on a blow-up doll, and fiery electric guitar lessons. Band leader Doug Douglason (a.k.a. country superstar Dierks Bentley) and his...

The group’s first official release since signing with Universal’s Nashville wing, “Pick Her Up” also features vocal contributions from actual Nineties country star Travis Tritt.
With their trademark tongue-in-cheek humor, Hot Country Knights offer a few suggestions to anyone who might nervous about asking a woman out for whatever reason.

When Eric Church’s debut album Sinners Like Me hit in 2006, it signaled a brash new direction for country music. Here was an artist who, although leaning heavily on rock & roll, maintained a foothold in country, especially with his enlightened workingman lyricism. Naturally, Church evolved over his next four albums, embracing both harder sounds and a more singer-songwriter vibe that culminated with the surprise release Mr. Misunderstood in 2015 (he’ll further his catalog with the new Desperate Man on October 5th). In celebration of Church gracing the August cover of Rolling Stone,...
