KollywoodThe actors will feature in the romantic entertainer ‘Maara’ to be directed by Dhilip Kumar.Digital NativeDigital NativeMadhavan and Shraddha Srinath, who were the onscreen pair in last year’s Vikram Vedha, are all set to work together again. The film turned out to be a big hit, winning laurels for the lead actors besides the entire team. And now, the lead pair has been signed up to star in the romantic entertainer Maara. To be directed by Dhilip Kumar, the film will start rolling soon. It may be mentioned here that the director has the critically acclaimed short film Kalki to his credit. On the upcoming film with Maddy and Shraddha, the debut director said in an interview to the Times of India: “After a very long time, Madhavan is acting in a pure romance drama. He has done the Tanu Weds Manu films in Hindi, but in those, he had to act passive. This one will be a very charming character.” Dhilip added, “Actually, we were considering if we have to cast the same pair. But their romantic track was only a part of that film, and we are not banking on that anyway. Mainly, the female protagonist’s character has got a lot to do with how Shraddha is in real life. It’s a character that is mature, and Madhavan’s is also in the same vein.” Madhavan, well-known for his chocolate boy image during the early stages of his career, slowly shifted his focus from romantic films to work in movies that offered him scope to show his acting skills. He currently has the Telugu movie Savyasachi, in which he shares screen space with Naga Chaitanya. The star’s inclusion in the film also means that it will be his first full-fledged role in a Telugu movie. Earlier, he was seen making a guest appearance in Om Shanti, which hit the silver screens in 2010. Savyasachi, slated for release this year, is directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Maddy also has a Bollywood film titled Zero in his kitty. Wielding the megaphone for this venture is Anand L Rai.
