Yoko Taro’s Drakengard and Nier series have become a cult classic since their debuts, with the video games being praised for their storytelling, character development, and sense of tragedy. Although the original Nier game was met with mixed reviews, it has become a proper cult classic and this resulted in a highly successful remaster, as well as a sequel, Nier: Automata. Last year, a somewhat different and expanded version of the sequel, Nier: Automata Ver1.1a, was released in anime format, with the first 12 episodes airing in 2023 and a second cour planned for 2024.
