From Betty: The Final Girl and Pop's Chock’lit Shoppe of Horrors to Camp Pickens and the recently released Madam Satan, Archie Comics has been delivering the ghoulish goods in their Chilling Adventures Presents... one-shots all year long, and with another Spooky Season upon us, they're continuing their celebration of all things horror with family-friendly frights in their digest comics!
With another festive fall upon us, we're thrilled (and chilled) to once again team up with Archie Comics to provide Daily Dead readers with the weekly treat of exclusive previews from their digest comics! This week, we have an early look at the Ginger Snapp story "Melanie" (which seems to have some eerie inspirations from M3GAN) as well as the story "Masque-Raiding," in which the superhero The Web crashes a costume party while in pursuit of two masked criminals. Both "Melanie" and "Masque-Raiding" are featured in the upcoming Betty...

For better or worse, the next big bet in Hollywood right now is video games. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is the biggest film of 2023 so far. "The Last of Us" earned strong reviews from television critics, although some game critics were more skeptical. Even the anime series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" -- a spin-off of "Cyberpunk 2077" -- sniped anime of the year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
Leading the charge was 2020's "Sonic the Hedgehog," which survived terrible initial press to score the best opening weekend box office ever for a video game film at the time of its release. A committed performance by Jim Carrey helped, as did a Sonic redesign led by Tyson Hesse and a hard-working team of visual effects artists. Its sequel, "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," made even more money.
Next up we've "Knuckles," a Paramount+ television series featuring everybody's favorite grumpy echidna voiced by Idris Elba.

Idw Publishing's "Sonic The Hedgehog" #58, available March 1, 2023, is written by Ian Flynn and illustrated by Thomas Rothlisberger, with covers by Tracy Yardley and Abigail Oz:
"...'Sonic' to 'Restoration HQ': Requesting backup immediately! The 'Eggperial City' is too much for Sonic, 'Tangle', 'Whisper' and 'Lanolin' to handle on their own, so it's 'Tails', 'Amy', 'Silver' and 'Blaze' to the rescue!
"With two teams on the case, surely victory will be achieved without a hitch, right?!..."

To say that 2018 will be a big year for Superman is a massive understatement. Not only will Action Comics #1000 be hitting stands in a couple of months and a special hardcover will see release in order to celebrate his 80th anniversary in publication, but we also have the matter of Brian Michael Bendis becoming the guiding hand behind Big Blue for the foreseeable future.
To quickly recap, Bendis will pen a Man of Steel, a six-issue weekly miniseries set to launch in late May, before taking over the flagship books in July with a freshly relaunched Superman #1 and Action Comics #1001. Having taken that in, you probably couldn’t help but notice a three-month gap separating Action Comics #1000 from #1001.
As it turns out, DC actually does have a plan for that, for they’ll allow the current creative teams to conclude their runs with special oversized 48-page one-shots in May. Personally,...

In a most fortunate turn of events that will surely satisfy fans of the hit new series Riverdale, Archie Comics have reached a deal with Warner Bros. TV, assuring that more properties outside of its iconic teenage cast will receive adaptations beyond the printed page. For starters, this includes “America’s Queen of Pin-Ups and Fashions” Katy Keene, and even the superheroes that make up the company’s mature Dark Circle imprint.
If anything, this strengthens the possibility of a Riverdale spinoff, which could very well focus on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But what intrigues me is how the Dark Circle characters could be developed for television. The CW’s prime time lineup is becoming evermore crowded with DC shows and, aside from the Fox or maybe the Shield, vigilantes such as the Black Hood and the Hangman are arguably best suited for cable. But time will tell, I guess.
