Author, advocate and journalist Lauren Duca responded to current headlines in a piece for Marie Claire Thursday, addressing her public perception and the complaint filed by students who took her New York University class.
“I really brought my whole heart to the work of trying to teach,” she wrote. “I didn’t really know how to do it. I’ve never taught before, and I didn’t get clear guidelines or instructions. I had to spend three hours — minus the ’45 minutes I meditated every class’ — trying to articulate what I care about, why I do what I do, and my case for first person reporting that includes rigorous research.”

Laura Ingraham offered fire and fury on her Fox News show “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday, blasting a decision by NYU to hire liberal Twitter writers Talia Lavin and Lauren Duca to teach journalism courses during the Fall 2019 semester.
“They want to circumscribe speech. They want to take players off the field altogether. So she’s just a hit gal. She’s another Media Matters, they don’t want to argue. They don’t want to win the debate. They want to search and destroy. That’s what they do,” Ingraham said during an interview with conservative author Dinesh D’Souza.
“That’s why Fox viewers are so loyal to this network because we refuse to bow. We refuse to cave in to these kind of terroristic tactics and that’s what they are. They’re little journo terrorists,” she added.

President Donald Trump’s use of the fictional Game of Thrones Wall to push his agenda for a similar barrier along the Mexican border has found an audience. Unfortunately for him, it’s mostly the more liberal fan boys and girls, who point out that walls don’t work.
The Commander-in-Tweet re-pinned his Got “The Wall Is Coming” Instagram meme to the top of his Twitter account today, creating a fresh surge of outrage among show purists, many of them already frothing at the mouth from the original joke and the current government partial shutdown over the real-life wall.
Spoiler Alert On The Wall:
If you’re not a fan of Game of Thrones, you may not be aware of the Wall, a mystical barrier between North and South that stretches for 300 miles.
In the show, the barrier keeps so-called “Wildlings” who live in the North out of the Seven Kingdoms,...

Are you freaking out over the midterm elections? Join the club.
If you spend even 5 seconds on Twitter, your feed will likely be overgrown with the politically active set eyeing Tuesday’s vote with a mixture of cautious optimism and abject horror. Particularly Democrats shellshocked by the last two, uh, fun years under the Trump administration.
Helping them cope is a new meme that perfectly encapsulates the mood of voters just 24 hours before they go to the polls. Called “Me voting in 2016 vs me voting in 2018,” it sees users post pictures that illustrate the difference between their optimistic outlook during the 2016 presidential election, and their world-weary, psychologically-scarred Pov of today.

During the Los Angeles stop of the “Rise Up For Roe” tour, actress Alyssa Milano did not hold back when it came to her opinions about Donald Trump’s Scotus pick Brett Kavanaugh and the threat he poses to the Roe v. Wade decision made in 1973.
Milano, who has been very outspoken when it comes to the Trump administration, said that it is “fucking absurd” that women are fighting to save abortion rights in 2018.
Moderated by journalist Lauren Duca, the Insatiable actress was joined on the stage at the El Rey theater by activists Cecile Richards, Jessica McIntosh, Jessica Morales Rocketto and Meagan Hatcher-Mays. After citing that today marked the 98th anniversary of the 19th amendment, Milano not only strongly voiced her opinion about the absurdity of women having to fight for their rights but how “all of this is absurd” — from the Trump administration to Kavanaugh to basic rights of humans.

Fox News correspondent John Roberts came under fire on Friday after declining to come to the aid of his fellow reporter Jim Acosta after Trump lambasted the journalist and CNN as “fake news.”
“Old enough to remember when other networks came to the defense of Fox News Wh correspondents during the Obama years. Such did not happen here,” said CNN host Jake Tapper.
“Lesson for the kids out there: no one should ever try to do the right thing with the expectation it will ever be reciprocated.”

According to President Donald Trump, Matt Pottinger doesn’t exist. Which might come as news to Matt Pottinger.
In a morning tweet that was quickly debunked by reporters – and even a former colleague of Pottinger – Trump wrote today, “The Failing @nytimes quotes ‘a senior White House official,’ who doesn’t exist, as saying ‘even if the meeting were reinstated, holding it on June 12 would be impossible, given the lack of time and the amount of planning needed.’ Wrong Again! Use real people, not phony sources.”
Trump was referring to a Page 1 story in today’s New York Times about the possibility of a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. Wrote the Times: “Twenty-four hours after announcing that he was calling off the meeting in a letter to Mr. Kim, the North’s leader, Mr. Trump told reporters that he and Mr. Kim might yet meet in Singapore on June...

Mike Huckabee Suffers Twitter's Wrath for Cheap Shot About Ruth Bader Ginsburg Skipping Trump's Sotu
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is skipping President Trump’s first State of the Union address on Tuesday, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee felt the need to explain why in the form of a tasteless Twitter joke.
On Sunday, the Republican tweeted a photo of the infamous moment when Ginsburg nodded off during former President Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech in 2015.
“It’s not fair that ppl are criticizing Justice Ginsberg for skipping Sotu! Security concerns wouldn’t allow her to bring Cpap machine into House Chamber,” Huckabee joked, referring to a device called a continuous positive airway pressure machine,...
