And because the executive producers wouldn’t say exactly which characters are heading to that big Smokey’s in the sky, we asked Luke James and Jacob Latimore for their (spoiler-free) thoughts on the matter.

Exclusive: Showtime’s hit drama The Chi, which films entirely in Chicago, has paused production on its upcoming sixth season, effective today. The decision was made Monday after a second consecutive day of shooting was disrupted by WGA strike-related picketing.
Eight episodes from Season 6 have been completed; they were shot before the strike. I hear The Chi, whose seasons have consisted of 10 episodes each, had been slated to shoot for another couple of weeks from finished scripts. It is unclear when production will resume.
Showtime has not set a Season 6 premiere date yet. It is possible that the season gets split into two, so fans get fresh episodes sooner. Reps for Showtime and The Chi producer 20th Television declined comment.
After writers Sunday night were alerted on social media that The Chi production had asked those working on the show to be at the Cinespace Chicago Film Studios before 4 Am Monday to avoid picketers,...

Showtime’s The Chi is the latest series whose production has been disrupted by the ongoing writers strike. According to sources, the hit drama, which is based in Chicago, filmed Friday morning before moving to another location, which had a picket line already in place.
As a result, no shooting was done at that particular place. Filming on the series, which I hear also was disrupted last week, is slated to resume Monday.
The picketing on The Chi was a result of a Rapid Response appeal by two WGA strike captains. It was amplified by veteran showrunner Warren Leight who has emerged as a Twitter “dispatcher,” helping to coordinate WGA production shutdown efforts, mostly in and around New York.

Tara Duncan has been in the job as President of Freeform for just over seven months and she is starting to put her mark on the Disney-owned network.
She tells Deadline what her priorities are for the network, new areas that she’s looking to move into and also addresses recent concerns over diversity.
This comes after she attended her first TCA in charge, an event where Freeform revealed it had handed a series order to comedy pilot Single Drunk Female and was piloting an adaptation of Phoebe Robinson’s book Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay.
Current Freeform originals include dramas The Bold Type, The Fosters spin-off Good Trouble and Motherland: Fort Salem and comedies Grown-ish and Everything’s Going To Be Okay. The Jessica Biel-produced Cruel Summer is also launching later this year.
Duncan said while the network is “highly resourced”, expect around the same number of scripted originals on air.

Excusive: Freeform has put in development Smoakland, a single-camera comedy from writer Jewel Coronel (The Chi), Zahir McGhee (Scandal), grown-ish star Yara Shahidi and Keri Shahidi’s 7th Sun Productions and ABC Signature, where 7th Sun and McGhee are under deals.
Written by Coronel, Smoakland centers around Oakland native Solo, the visionary of a budding cannabis company, who navigates family expectations, changing friendships, love, and her drive to break through the “grass” ceiling of the oft-closed terrain of the cannabis industry for herself and her community.
Coronel and McGhee executive produce with Yara and Keri Shahidi for 7th Sun. ABC Signature, a part of Disney Television Studios, is the studio.
Coronel serves as co-executive producer on The Chi, which has been renewed for a fourth season on Showtime. Before that, she was a writer on the second and third seasons of Fox’s music drama Star.
