Matthew Bridger was born in Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom. Educated at The John Wallis Academy, Matthew's creative journey started at The EDGE School of Creative and Business at Folkestone College, where he studied Media Studies. There, he began his filmmaking career by directing, editing, and filming a student short film, and then editing a music video. During his college years, Matthew took a unique path. He reached out to global brands, convincing them to send him their products, which he then turned into commercials for their social media.
Beyond filmmaking, Matthew is driven by a commitment to social impact. While still a student, he founded a social enterprise to empower underprivileged youth. He later established a charitable organization to address local societal challenges.
In 2019, Matthew entered politics, running for council seats in both the Victoria Ward of the Ashford Borough Council and the Park Farm South Ward of Kingsnorth Parish Council. Despite his young age, he won the Park Farm South seat, becoming one of Kent's youngest-ever parish councilors. In July 2023, Matthew's political career expanded as he joined the Kennington Community Council as the councilor for the Kennington Ward in Ashford, Kent.
