Saskia Pocock

Saskia is an 19 year old woman who is very talented and hardworking. She has a very big passion for acting, singing and dancing. She matriculated in 2015 from Monument High school. There she was awarded as beast drama student in practical and theory with an average of 96%. In her high school career she participated in various cultural activities including acting, public speaking, painting, photography, school revues and - plays. She was also elected to the Student Council.
Saskia started acting at the age of 7 but the acting bug only bit her at age 12. Since then she has competed in various eisteddfods and competitions. In 2012 she won a gold medal at the South African Championships for the Performing arts for her poem, Jabberwocky. At the beginning of 2015 Saskia competed in the KykNet National Acting Competition for High School Learners. Here she placed 18th nationwide. It was also during this competition that she was offered the opportunity to work for the radio station RSG. She has performed in three full length radio dramas and had a permanent role in the youth story Ratels from 2014-2016.
In 2012 Saskia joined Stageworx School of Performing Arts, and was part of the ensemble cast of their midyear musical, Sing It! After that she played a lead role in the musicals, Sing It! Schools and, Tick Tock Boom. She also played a supporting role in, The Magic of The Musicals at the Barnyard in Cresta Mall and in the Stageworx film, Standing Ovation. In 2013 Saskia was part of the ensemble cast as Old Mother Hubbard in the Big Bad Musical that showed at Monte Casino during their MTN Festival.
Saskia completed the Trinity Guildhall syllabus for Performing Arts and Musical Theater. She received her ATCL in Performing Arts with a 72% pass mark and Musical Theater ATCL with an 88% Distinction.
During 2016 she completed an intensive Performing Gap Year course at Stageworx School Of Performing Arts. During this time she played minor roles in Daniel Baron's music video Children of the Sun and the short film Starry Night.
Saskia is very hard working and doesn't shy away from a challenge. She is willing to do anything that is asked of her. Saskia is very creative and enjoys learning anything to do with theater and performing. In her free time she loves painting, sketching, creative writing and singing. She is very good with any special effect makeup. She works really well with children and would like to pursue a career in teaching while she is acting on stage or film.
