- Co-owned the "Rainbow Music Theater" in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with Lawrence Welk alumnus, Ava Barber, from 1990-1995. His youngest son, David W. Dale, spent two seasons performing with him there.
- Joined the Lawrence Welk Orchestra in 1951. He remained with The Lawrence Welk Show (1955) until it completed production in 1982. During this time, he only missed 3 shows. Only Barney Liddell and Myron Floren were with the orchestra longer.
- Father of sons Ric, Dan and David W. Dale and daughter, Dee Dee.
- Along with his fine baritone singing voice, Dick played the clarinet, bass clarinet, as well as the soprano, alto and baritone saxophone.
