What the heck are Taungsday and Benduday? To explain, a recent episode of "The Mandalorian" finally canonized the Galactic Standard Calendar that long existed in the "Star Wars" archived Expanded Universe, the Legends. In season 3, episode 3 "The Convert," the show diverts from its eponymous Mandalorian and his famed foundling Grogu to focus on a reformed ex-Imperial, Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtah), figuring out his life on the sparkling capital city-planet of Coruscant. There, we're exposed to casual mentions of Taungsday and Benduday, two days of the week in "Star Wars."
In a 2009 "Hyperspace" fan-club article by Gregory Walker, you can see the days of the week listed out in this order on the "Dining at Dex's" menu: Primeday, Centaxday, Taungsday, Zhellday, Benduday. That's right, the galaxy far, far away comprises five days in a week. To us Earthlings familiar with the seven-day week, the weeks sure sound short in "Star Wars.

Poe Dameron’s criminal backstory in The Rise of Skywalker surprised a lot of people. For Latinx fans who found casting Oscar Isaac as a drug-runner an offensive stereotype and comic book readers interested in Poe’s New Republic days, the backstory just didn’t seem to fit. Unfortunately, Poe Dameron: Free Fall, the new Ya novel by Alex Segura, expands on the spice runner backstory with dull sincerity, producing a functional space adventure that doesn’t particularly feel like it’s about Poe or even Star Wars.

The son of Rebel heroes, Poe grew up on Yavin IV, site of the climactic battle in A New Hope. What had been an eye-opening place full of adventure and danger for Luke Skywalker is now a boring small town for Poe. He lives with his father Kes, who yells a lot in an effort...

Poe Dameron fans are about to learn more about the hotshot pilot, including questions raised about his past in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The upcoming novel Star Wars Poe Dameron: Free Fall will reveal more of the backstory of the fan-favorite character played onscreen by Oscar Isaac, and how he’s connected to Zorii Bliss, Keri Russell's Skywalker character.
" It's an epic, action-packed crime novel in space. At least that's what I was thinking about as I wrote it. Heists, double-crosses, space battles, surprises and deadly odds," writer Alex Segura tells The Hollywood Reporter. "...

Archie Andrews has encountered musicians before in Riverdale — including Kiss, the Ramones and Jenny Lewis — but this time the teenager will encounter New Wave legends the B-52’s.
A one-shot issue titled Archie Meets the B-52s #1, the comic features Archie as an intern at Wriv, the local TV station. His supervisor, Kevin, tells him that he’s working on a local variety show and that the B-52’s will be the next musical guest.

Poe Dameron fans haven’t had a great few months. Not only did the character not have much to do in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (to Oscar Isaac’s obvious annoyance), but a line of dialogue retconned his past from heroic Resistance pilot to sometime shady drug smuggler. This was a particularly lazy bit of writing obviously intended to position Poe as the rogueish Han Solo of the Sequel Trilogy. But, as fans of the character are aware, Poe is a far more upstanding figure than Han was.
We know this because Poe’s past has been outlined quite comprehensively in comics by Charles Soule and novels by Rebecca Roanhorse. In these, we learn that he’s the son of Rebellion heroes Kes Dameron and Shara Bey, who both fought in the Battle of Endor. He became a pilot at a young age, joined the New Republic Defense...

Jenny Lewis will make a cameo appearance in the latest issue of Jughead’s Time Police, an Archie Comics release out on Wednesday, October 30th.
Jughead’s Time Police #5 features the musician appearing during the lead-up to a Battle of the Bands segment. As Jughead practices his drumming, Lewis walks up to the gang and says, “Nice song.” The Riverdale teens proceed to fawn over her, calling Lewis “the fashion idol of my youth,” “songstress of our collective feelings” and “all-around babe.”

Archie Vs. Predator (2015) is getting its sequel this summer, with Alex De Campi writing and Robert Hack as the artist. We’ve got the cover art for the new editions of the comic for you to checkout, but first, here’s a quote from Archie Comics co-president Alex Segura regarding the series:
"The first question people are going to be asking is, 'But...how?' and, for my money, that's the best mind-set to have when you're talking crossovers. Alex de Campi wrote an iconic, legendary mashup — but, I have to tell you, her idea for the sequel goes above and beyond. The fact that we got superstar Robert Hack to bring it to life is sure to make the end result one of the most bonkers, visceral and off-the-wall events in comic book history. Strap in. This is gonna be fun as hell."
Well that should definitely pump you up for this graphic novel!

Featuring an exclusive look at variant covers from the upcoming mini-series, here's your guide to Jughead's Time Police.
Back in the early 1990s, Archie Comics released an ambitious series of titles aimed at illustrating how the veteran indie publisher could tell different types of stories using their characters. These various books ranged from interesting failures to regrettable curiosites. Yet much like Marty McFly unleashing rock and roll at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, one of these experiments was so far ahead of its, er, time that it would take a generation to pick up what Archie was throwing down.
That title was Jughead's Time Police.
Despite only running for a measly six issues, Jughead's Time Police foreshadowed the Archie creative renaissance that began a decade ago by telling a status quo-shattering story that pushed the parameters of these characters while maintaining what made them so lovable in the first place.
