Jenny Lewis will make a cameo appearance in the latest issue of Jughead’s Time Police, an Archie Comics release out on Wednesday, October 30th.
Jughead’s Time Police #5 features the musician appearing during the lead-up to a Battle of the Bands segment. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Archie Andrews! (And he’s even more squeaky-clean than Superman.)
We’ve got a sneak peek at Riverdale‘s first-ever Halloween episode (airing Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 8/7c on The CW), and Archie and his new pal Mad Dog — sorry, Munroe — are getting into the spooky spirit by dressing up as superheroes. (For all you Archie Comics nerds: Archie is dressed as Pureheart the Powerful, Archie’s superhero alter ego, and Munroe is dressed as The Shield, a patriotic superhero from the comics… who actually pre-dates Captain America!)

I’m a big fan of Archie Comics, as can he heard on articles I’ve penned on Nerdy about that world, and I really loved the new relaunch when it happened, which kicked off wonderfully with the first volume. Written by Mark Waid, with art from Veronica Fish, the second volume requires that you only need to read Volume 1, and nothing prior. The whole world of Archie that is out there was relaunched, so just grab the new stuff and get stuck in.
The art again is on-point here, it looks bloody lovely. The first volume saw the delicious visuals of Fiona Staples (Saga) and this time Veronica Fish, whose other work includes the awesome Boom! Studios series, Slam, and Marvel titles like Spider Woman and Howard the Duck. Her art fits perfectly with Archie,...

Here's an exclusive first look at the upcoming fourth issue, in which Riverdale is quite literally ripped apart.
With Paper Girls having recently ended its run, the best time travel comic on the market right now is...Jughead's Time Police? Crazy though it may seem, the current Archie Comics mini-series is the perfect blend of science fiction and comedy that aims to do for hamburgers what Back to the Future did for manure. Or something like that.
Future historians will decide where this book winds up in the pantheon of great comics, but we can tell you here and now that this story is quite unlike anything Archie has ever attempted before..

In what is suitably being referred to as "Crisis on Infinite Riverdales," Archie Comics currently has major multiverse issues flowing through many of their books. From Jughead's Time Police to Jughead the Hunger Meets Vampironica and beyond, the Archieverse is colliding in weird and unexpected ways right now as the publisher barrels towards its 80th year.
We expect to hear much more on what this all means for the future of Archie during the company's New York Comic Con panel next month, but until then we are left wonder what will truly go down when the various types of Archie stories being told right now in comics and on television will collide head on.

I previously penned an article here on Nerdly about the Archieverse and the various titles, old and new, to come from this wonderful world of comics. I mentioned in said article that I would be reviewing many of those books, and so what better place to begin than from the newest iteration of Archie and the first volume of that series.
Archie Vol. 1 was released all the way back in 2015 and collects issues 1-6 on the rebooted Archie franchise. Written by the excellent Mark Waid with artists Fiona Staples (for issues 1 to 3), Annie Wu (issue 4) and Veronica Fish (issues 5 and 6), this was the start of something special, and so it was a total joy to go back and read it again in order to talk about it here in this first review in a series.

We've got your exclusive look at how the various facets of Archie Comics' history will unite on the printed page!
Sure, connected universes may be all the rage these days, but Archie Comics has been ahead of this curve for decades. Long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Crisis on Infinite Earths were even a glimmer in a young nerd's eye, the plucky publisher had Archie and the gang interacting with Josie and the Pussycats and Sabrina the Teenage Witch in their various titles..
In the past, Archie has occasionally published crossover stories uniting all the works from their nearly 80-year history (most notably in their Archie: The Married Life series), but never to a game-changing degree. All that is about to change. With the current Archie vs. Predator II and Jughead's Time Police titles weaving together the narrative threads that unite all permutations of these characters,...

I wasn’t somebody who grew up reading, or even knowing about, the Archie Comics stuff. I don’t even know if it was available here in the UK when I was a kid. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I started checking out some of the terrific bumper editions of old Archie comics, the stacked Omnibus editions that are out there in great numbers. I was immediately charmed by the stories, the characters and the wholesome feel to Archie Comics. I quickly moved on to the new Archie series that started back in 2015, and found myself becoming a big fan. Since then, we’ve seen lots of new Archie books released, we’ve seen spin-off series’ such as Jughead, Betty & Veronica, Josie & The Pussycats, Reggie & Me and more, and they each offer a similar tone but a very entertaining and relatable story that feels both modern,...

John Carpenter is taking his Hollywood horror sensibilities to Gotham City, with DC Comics’ recent announcement that the director of The Thing, Halloween, and The Fog is co-writing a special 40-page Joker comic book.
Carpenter isn’t the only Hollywood notable dabbling in the comic book world — far from it, in fact, he’s actually part of a crush of celebrity tourists who are putting their names on comics. The allure for some is the IP creation opportunities, while others hope to tap into the evolving medium’s new indie-spirited cachet. For some it’s a purer pursuit, a low-cost way to produce a pet project or a nostalgic lark that reconnects them with comics traditions and characters they loved in their own youth.

A guide to the long journey Watchmen has taken from DC Comics to HBO TV.
No doubt inspired by the Latin phrase "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?," generally translated into English as "Who watches the Watchmen?," Alan Moore's 1986-87 comic book series landed in the DC world like an atomic bomb, shattering preconceived notions of what comic books could be and what they had always been. Mature themes in comics had been explored as early as Will Eisner's The Spirit, but Moore was on the cusp of what comics could look like if targeted to a more thoughtful, mature audience. But how did an '80s cult comic book series spawn a growing media empire, with multiple comic series, graphic novels, video games, a movie, and a television series? Perhaps just as crucially, how did a single comic book maxi-series stay trapped in development hell from its...

The CW released its 2019-20 primetime schedule Thursday, and the network is pairing “Batwoman” with “Supergirl” for another year of girl-powered Sunday nights.
The “Charmed” reboot has been banished to Friday nights before “Dynasty,” while “Nancy Drew” has been granted the Wednesday night post-“Riverdale” slot. “All American” has been moved to Mondays before “Black Lightning,” and the final season of “Arrow” will air after “The Flash” on Tuesdays. “Supernatural” and “Legacies” remain paired on Thursdays, where the monster-hunting series will come to a close this fall after 15 seasons.
That leaves “Katy Keene,” the “Riverdale” spinoff starring Lucy Hale, to wait for midseason along with new returning series “DC’S Legends of Tomorrow,” “In The Dark,” “Roswell, New Mexico” and “The 100.”

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details of tonight’s Riverdale Season 3 finale.
Taking it over-the-top is the bottom line for the fizzy CW series Riverdale and by that measure the Season 3 finale that aired Wednesday was top-notch for a series that is more of a pop-television tone poem than a traditional (or rational) storytelling endeavor. The season’s finish-line episode checked off all the boxes for a show, too, that yearns to be sleek, sugary, surreal, sexy, soapy, silly, and swooning – and to always look good doing it,
The young hearts of Riverdale were in Mystery Machine-mode in the “Chapter Fifty-Seven: Survive the Night” as the climatic reveal of this season’s mystery antagonist, the Gargoyle King, finally played out. There was plenty of other business dealt with, as well, as the never-dull episode sprinted through twists and...

Wyatt Nash (Glow) is set to recur on the CW’s Riverdale as an FBI agent who arrives in town to manage an ongoing investigation. The character makes his debut in tonight’s Season 3 finale.
Wyatt’s Agent Smith is intriguing, sharp, confident and — as revealed in the finale — he’s more closely tied to this town (and several of its characters) than one would guess at first glance. He will be a continued presence in Riverdale going into Season 4 in the fall.
Kj Apa, Cole Sprouse Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Casey Cott and Madelaine Petsch star in the series based on the characters from Archie Comics. Riverdale is produced by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, in association with Berlanti Productions..

The CW just added another three series for the 2019-20 season!
If you were betting that women would be the newest heroes of The CW, pat yourself on the back.
Batwoman, Katy Keene, and Nancy Drew will all be flying high on the network.
We've already seen a bit of what Batwoman can do during the massive crossover event last fall.
With Ruby Rose as the titular character aka Kate Kane, she mixed it up with the Arrow team to help save the world.
— Batwoman (@CWBatwoman) May 8, 2019
In addition to Rose, the cast also includes Dougray Scott as Kate's father, Jacob, a former military colonel who helms Gotham's private Security firm The Crows.
His mission is to protect Gotham better than the Dark Knight ever could, while his daughter, as we know, is a highly trained street fighter and tasked with snuffing out the failing city's criminal resurgence.

Lisa Soper knew from an early age that she wanted to work in the movies but unlike most kids who have dreams of being actors, writers or directors, Soper's passion was to help build the worlds we see on screen.
With a dream and a talent for drawing, Soper found herself in art school followed by a short-lived but ultimately instrumental job as an animator. The day-to-day grind of office work wasn't for her so she took the plunge and a job on a no-budget movie which led to another project and then another and now, a decade later, Soper is the production designer on Netflix's "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."

Riverdale's third season has been pretty wild, no? From the town's shady past with the board game Griffins & Gargoyles, the Lodge family drama, and Jughead's mom and sister coming back to town, these past few episodes have been pretty crazy. And it seems like things are only going to get more complicated from here. While we still have a while to go before the season three finale, fans are already asking one big question: when will Riverdale's third season be available on Netflix?
Archie Comics revealed that season three would be available on May 23. Thanks to The CW's agreement with Netflix, shows on The CW head to the streaming service just eight days after the air date of their season finale. For instance, after Riverdale's season two finale on May 16 earlier this year, the entire season was streaming by May 24. After season one's finale on May 11 of 2017, the...

Riverdale said farewell to Luke Perry during Wednesday's episode, which was the final one the beloved actor filmed before the stroke that claimed his life in March. Perry’s passing sent shock waves through the industry, and his understated final appearance as Riverdale father figure Fred Andrews is a reminder of exactly how much The CW’s dark, outlandish Archie Comics reboot will lose without his presence.

If you had to watch the first season of Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” between your fingers with all the lights on, you might want to consider strictly binge-viewing the show’s sophomore year during the day when it launches next Friday, as it’s somehow an even darker take on the teen witch’s tale.
“Oh yeah, Season 1 has nothing on Season 2, as far as darkness,” “Sabrina” star Chance Perdomo told TheWrap in the interview you can watch above.
And part of the reason the streaming service’s Kiernan Shipka-led drama about the Archie Comics character goes to the darker side in its second go-round is because Perdomo’s character, Sabrina’s cousin Ambrose, helps take it there.

Holy crossover! We've got an extended look at the crazy comic crossover in which Gotham City and Riverdale collide!
Bif! Bang! Zonk!
The past couple of years have seen Archie characters interacting with retro icons like The Monkees and The Ramones, but despite how fantastic these crossovers were, they were just warm-ups for the majesty that is Archie Meets Batman '66. The recent five-issue mini-series -- written by DC stalwart Jeff Parker with Michael Moreci and illustrated by Archie legend Dan Parent (the creator of Kevin Keller), this event was a joyous celebration of both franchises.
Context, as always, is important here. In the late 1960s, both Batman and Archie were experiencing then unparalleled levels of success. Featuring an exclusive look at variant covers from the upcoming mini-series, here's your guide to Jughead's Time Police.
Back in the early 1990s, Archie Comics released an ambitious series of titles aimed at illustrating how the veteran indie publisher could tell different types of stories using their characters. These various books ranged from interesting failures to regrettable curiosites. Yet much like Marty McFly unleashing rock and roll at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance, one of these experiments was so far ahead of its, er, time that it would take a generation to pick up what Archie was throwing down.
That title was Jughead's Time Police.
Despite only running for a measly six issues, Jughead's Time Police foreshadowed the Archie creative renaissance that began a decade ago by telling a status quo-shattering story that pushed the parameters of these characters while maintaining what made them so lovable in the first place.

Cole Sprouse has quite literally been acting his whole life. Sprouse and his twin brother, Dylan, first got into the business when they were only 8 months old, and they haven't really slowed down since. While the 26-year-old has had a wide range of roles over the years, including the 1999 comedy Big Daddy, Friends, and the Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, his work continues to mature with him as he gets older. After taking a hiatus from acting to go to college from 2011-2015, Sprouse made his big return to TV when he scored the role of the moody Archie Comics character Jughead Jones on Riverdale in 2017. Now, nearly three years later, Sprouse is heading back to the big screen in the upcoming movie adaptation of Five Feet Apart.

Hey, Pretty Little Liars fans. We've got some pretty exciting news for any of you who were fans of former Aria Montgomery star Lucy Hale. Following the heels of her CW "Life Sentence" show getting canceled, it turns out that the CW isn't ready to give up on her just yet. According to the folks over at Entertainment Weekly, The CW has offered Lucy Hale a new TV show gig which will be a spin off for their current hit show "Riverdale." Lucy's new show is called, "Katy Keene." The show received a pilot episode order back in January 2019. The Katy Keene plotline will follow four iconic Archie Comics characters in New York City as they aspire to make it on Broadway, on the runway, and in the recording studio. Lucy will be playing the lead role of Katy Keene. The show's timeline is set many years after the current Riverdale timeline.

As the Archie-verse expands, it’s interesting that a character series hasn’t been introduced yet which would provide a crossover opportunity with Riverdale.
The upcoming Berlanti Productions pilot Katy Keene takes place in New York City years after Riversdale high school, and that’s the main reason why there won’t be a crossover episode with the hit CW series. In addition, it’s also been announced that there aren’t any crossovers between Riverdale and its cousin series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on the horizon.
However, the reason why creators Roberto-Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi settled on Katy Keene versus another group of characters in the Archie-verse is because it’s “a really personal story” for the duo, Greg Berlanti told Deadline today at the Intv conference in Jerusalem, Israel.

The current explosion of scripted TV series and the proliferation of streaming services has been a boon for writers, Wme president Ari Greenburg said during a panel at the Intv conference in Jerusalem.
“There is hardly anything that you can’t sell now,” he said. “Everything that is on television now is exactly the stuff that we told clients not to pitch 15 years ago: serialized dramas, niche dramas, political dramas, Wall Street dramas, period dramas, single-camera comedies. All the impossible has become exactable.”
The panel, moderated by Wme co-founder Rick Rosen and also featuring Peter Micelli, eOne’s Chief Strategy Officer, Film and Television, who was previously co-head of the TV department at CAA, and Keith Redmon, Partner, Manager and Producer at Anonymous Content, focused on packaging and selling high-end series.
There was no mention of the current standoff between the WGA and Ata over a couple of issues, including agencies’ packaging fees.

Not long after hearing how Luke Perry suffered a massive stroke last week comes the tragic news that the veteran actor passed away this morning at the age of 52 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank. Perhaps best known for his roles on Beverly Hills 90210, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and, most recently, Riverdale, this’ll no doubt come as a heartbreaking shock to his fans the world over.
Here’s what TMZ had to offering regarding the situation:
“According to his rep, Luke was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiance Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends.”
What makes this news doubly saddening is that Perry’s career had really been kicking into high gear as of late. Not only had Riverdale been renewed for a fourth season, but Beverly Hills...

We’ll soon be meeting the leader of The Farm. One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray is joining the CW’s Riverdale in a recurring role.
Murray will play Edgar, the enigmatic leader of the cult-like Farm, who arrives in Riverdale to spread his teachings and heal the ravaged soul of this once wholesome town. Edgar is a charming, handsome guru, but is he hiding a more sinister agenda?
The new character indicates an expansion of the cult storyline that has been in the works. In the Season 3 opener, Betty (Lili Reinhart) seemed to have had enough of her mom Alice (Mädchen Amick) and sister Polly (Tiera Skovbye) obsessing over The Farm, the organization that helped Alice reconcile her husband Hal’s (Lochlyn Munro) murder of four people as the Black Hood. Alice tried, but failed, to get Betty to join The Farm.

Archie and the gang are coming back to The CW for Riverdale season 4!
Riverdale Season 4 is happening!
This is great news for fans of quirky, unpredictable, and always entertaining TV. Perhaps more so than any other show on TV, Riverdale is very comfortable in its own skin; season three was a weird and wonderful experience, with episodes like "The Midnight Club" flashback installment and the noir experiment pushing the creative parameters of the show...and, wonderfully, sticking the landing each time.
