Legendary special effects artist Tom Savini provided the blood and gore for such horror classics as Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Maniac, Friday the 13th, The Burning, The Prowler, Creepshow, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Day of the Dead, and more – and he’s also an actor, having delivered memorable roles in Knightriders and From Dusk Till Dawn, among others. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have confirmed that Savini will be making an appearance in writer/director Damien Leone’s supernatural slasher sequel Terrifier 3, which will be receiving a North American theatrical release on October 11th!
Details on the role Savini will be playing were not revealed.
Leone had a budget of around $55,000 to work with on his breakout horror film Terrifier, and a budget of “a little over” $250,000 for Terrifier 2, which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office.

Popcorn buckets are all the rage right now with several sparking controversy, including this gem for Dune: Part Two. Studios continue to push the envelope with rumors that the bucket for Deadpool & Wolverine will be nothing short of “intentionally crude and lewd,” teased Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. But what about horror?
Horror fans hope to see a Terrifier popcorn bucket available in theaters nationwide when Terrifier 3 releases this fall. Over the weekend, a hardcore fan launched a petition to raise awareness for a potential Terrifier 3 popcorn bucket. I immediately fantasized about eating pink popcorn out of Art the Clown’s head.
What would you want to see out of a Terrifier popcorn bucket? Damien Leone and Phil Falcone’s third film is Christmas-themed so I’m sure there’s no shortage of cool ideas.

“When Alyessa becomes pregnant, it brings up Chris’ deep-rooted trauma surrounding fatherhood. Upon discovering that their fetus craves human blood, they visit their father, Maddox, for answers.”
Joe Lam said in a statement, “With The Fetus, I wanted to delve into the emotional terrain of Alyessa’s unwanted pregnancy, exploring the complexities it imposes on her relationships with her father Maddox and her partner Chris. The fetus becomes a metaphorical antagonist, unraveling both Chris and Alyessa’s psyche, leading them on a haunting journey of fear, self-discovery, and the intricate web of family dynamics.

A specific release date hasn’t yet been announced for this one, but a trailer for the film has made its way online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Written and directed by Joe Lam, with Nathan Faudree and Yuke Li credited as story consultants, The Fetus tells the story of a couple struggling to learn the truth about the origins of their unborn child– a demonic entity that emerges from the body. Here’s an alternative synopsis: When Alessa becomes pregnant, it brings up Chris’ deep-rooted trauma surrounding fatherhood. Lisa Gray, a budding art restorer who travels to the small Italian village of Sambuci just outside Rome to bring a medieval painting back to its former glory for a wealthy and titled client. Little does she know she is placing her life in danger from an evil curse and a monster born of myth and brutal pain.
I have been a fan of Federico Zampaglione’s genre work since I saw his film Shadow in 2009. Then came the original cut of Tulpa back at Frighfest 2012. It’s safe to say I was one of the Only people who reviewed that screening and that cut positively (and then went on to review the recut just as glowingly) and saw what Zampaglione was trying to achieve.

There’s something rather wonderful about the fact that at a time when the horror genre is more diverse than ever and developing in all sorts of interesting directions, people are still making films like this. Exquisitely beautiful, utterly predictable and very, very Italian, it’s the distilled essence of European Gothic, and it’s delivered with enough skill to make it a pleasure even if you’ve seen its like dozens of times before. Lisa (Lauren Lavera) is the young foreigner travelling to the remote Italian village of Sambucci on an art restoration commission. On the bus on the way in, she sketches a picture of a woman in Atlas mode, holding up the world, which seems to tell us something about how she sees herself – but her strength will be sorely tested by what is to follow, and the flipside of her confidence is dangerous naivety.
During the same ride she befriends two.

"Terrifier 2" might have been a surprise hit in 2022, proving too brutal for even some seasoned horror fans. But you'd never have expected such success based on the original movie. Released in 2016, "Terrifier" took director Damien Leone's psychotic slasher Art the Clown, previously the star of several short films, and built a whole movie around his gory exploits. Sadly, the result was less than impressive. As /Film's Chris Evangelista put it in his "Terrifier 2" review:
"The first "Terrifier" is what I'd call 'crap' [...] While I freely admit the film is loaded with some incredibly practical gore, the movie itself is little more than a plotless, storyless, valueless excuse to showcase that gore and not much else."
Luckily, Leone stepped up his game for "Terrifier 2," as evidenced by the much improved critical response, the $15 million it made on a $250,000 budget, and the fact we'll soon be getting the highly-anticipated "Terrifier 3.

Terrifier 3 is going to have a budget several times that of Terrifier 2 – and a UK cinema release has been confirmed too.
A day or two back, we got the confirmation of a fresh sequel to a film with very low budget roots. That’d be Saw XI, that’s landing in cinemas next September. However, what promises to be an even more profitable venture is just a few weeks behind it.
That’d be Terrifier 3, the horror franchise that puts a vicious, murdering clown at its heart. The second film in particular was made for a fraction over $200,000, and ended up scaling the US box office chart. The $15m box office take might not be Marvel levels, but it’s a return that independent horror films very rarely get to see. And the franchise is clearly on an upwards trajectory too.
Terrifier 3 thus promises to be even bigger.

Earlier this month, Terrifier 2 – which was a massive hit when it was released last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000 – was given a theatrical re-release where the film was accompanied by a teaser for the follow-up Terrifier 3, which is set to receive a theatrical release on October 25, 2024. Now that teaser, which reveals that Terrifier 3 is set around Christmastime, has made its way online and can be seen in the embed above!
A plot synopsis hasn’t been shared for Terrifier 3 just yet, but we do know that David Howard Thornton will be reprising the role of Art the Clown, while Lauren Lavera will be back as Terrifier 2 heroine Sienna. Art the Clown is moving from Halloween to Christmas horror in the first trailer for “Terrifier 3.”
David Howard Thornton’s diabolical mime will return with more gore in the third installment of the clown-centered horror series. Created and directed by Damien Leone, the franchise features the unsettlingly silent clown as the perpetrator of some seriously gruesome killings. The “Terrifier 3” trailer first debuted in theaters after special screenings of 2022’s “Terrifier 2.”
The second film in the horror franchise saw fierce teenager Sienna Shaw (Lauren Lavera) going to battle with Art. Although Sienna managed to decapitate the clown, the ending revealed that it wasn’t the last audiences would see of him, as Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi), the only survivor of the first film’s Halloween massacre, gave birth to Art’s decapitated living head in a mental institution.
In anticipation of the third film, “Terrifier 2” expanded more on the mythology of Art.

Art the Clown just doesn't let up. It's been just over a year since "Terrifier 2" took the horror scene by storm, making bank at the box office and inspiring a wide range of responses from enthusiasm to disgust to reported cases of vomiting and fainting. This time, the seemingly immortal killer clown is ready to deck the halls with entrails: yep, this is a holiday movie.
"Terrifier 3" was first announced back in June 2023, and given the way these movies have previously been made — on a shoestring budget, with Damien Leone serving as writer, director, and editor — it's no surprise that the sequel ended up on a fast track toward release. In an exclusive interview with /Film, Leone shared that he was also able to bring...
