David Mays began his career in film/video as an actor and did so off and on for several years until he found himself behind the camera as a YouTuber for his channel @amaysinglife. This channel was dedicated to the off-road adventure segment. He transitioned from this to projects such as a number of short documentaries produced for the Brain Injury of Tennessee non-profit producing the film Finding Me Again in order to bring awareness to Traumatic Brain Injuries.
In addition to documentaries he works in the commercial segment making commercials for businesses across the United States in a number of different types of markets from restaurants to manufacturing companies.
In 2024 he was introduced to Dagan Beckett, a local filmmaker and documentarian known for Songbirds (Emmy award winning) and Beautiful Faces and others. He is now acting as Director of Photography with Dagan to help produce Dagan's latest documentary Legacy America that involves steam engine trains as well as the new Bright Line high speed rail located in Orlando Fl and soon to be breaking ground in Las Vegas, NV.
