Alexi's insatiable passion for visual storytelling and social and environmental justice have led him to the writing and directing of his multi-award winning, independently produced debut feature film, Rematriation - bringing him new accomplishments in directing, cinematography and producing. Alexi is a film director in the Director's Guild of Canada, and over the past 8 years, his creative journey has included producing music videos, commercials, documentaries, shorts, narrative feature and broadcast television work in a variety of creative roles. His varied work can be seen online, on national television programs like the CBC Fifth Estate, and at festivals, like VIFF (the Vancouver International Film Festival), VIMFF (the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival - including a "Best Environmental Film" award in 2023 for a film he directed), Sundance Institute's co//lab, on streaming platforms like Netflix, and in print and online on major media outlets like the Toronto Star, CBC Radio-Canada, Vancouver Sun and industry leading magazines. Alexi is a licensed drone operator in Canada and the US, and he is also a member of the I.A.T.S.E. union, where he has worked extensively in a professional context in cinema lighting, on some of the world's most famous television series and films, like Bates Motel, Riverdale and Yellowjackets, since 2017. Alexi has recently founded his Canadian production company, Kincentric Cinema, which has been contracted by reputable organizations such as the CBC, the North Pacific Marine Science Organization and the Vancouver Health Authority. In January 2024, Alexi sat on the panel of judges for the 2024 BCEFF (BC Environmental Film Festival), and released a short film which screened at film festivals in the same time frame. Alexi graduated from the Capilano University Documentary film program in 2017 with honours distinction and holds a BA in psychology from Simon Fraser University. Alexi's diverse skills and range of experiences serve as a strong foundation for his directing, resulting in technical and resonant works that challenge the status quo and provoke thoughtful questions. He has several professional projects currently in various stages of development and production.
