Plot: A look behind the scenes at the music of 007, from the crafting of theme songs to the scores themselves.
Review: I think the first time I ever noticed film music was in a James Bond film. My love of the James Bond film series has been well-documented here on JoBlo. After all, Nick Bosworth, our director of YouTube Operations, and I did a whole series about the 007 franchise – James Bond Revisited. But, one of the areas he and I always wanted to explore was the “James Bond sound,” most notably the music and work of John Barry. Indeed, the franchise as it exists today would not have survived were it not for the Barry sound. Everyone credits Monty Norman as the composer of the James Bond theme, and there’s some truth to that. Still, the orchestration by John Barry with the distinctive guitar playing by Vic Flick...

Here at JoBlo, we’re gearing up for James Bond Day in style! If you read JoBlo regularly or visit JoBlo Originals, you’ll likely have noticed that we love James Bond. So when the pandemic hit in 2020, I started revisiting many of my favourite James Bond movies, which was the genesis of our show, James Bond Revisited. Each episode would go in-depth on an individual instalment in the franchise, giving each 007 entry its own moment in the spotlight. While I’m a super fan, I tried to be honest in my assessments, but overall I discovered something about the franchise. Even when an instalment in the series was “bad,” it was still pretty good. I wager there are no all-out disastrous entries into the series save for perhaps Die Another Day, but even there, I had some fun revisiting it.

Hollywood and his fans all over the world are in mourning for Chadwick Boseman, following the Marvel star’s tragic passing this week after a four-year battle with colon cancer. The 43-year-old is, of course, best known for playing Black Panther in the McU, and the cultural importance of that character and his performance cannot be overstated. However, Boseman was also far from just T’Challa and has many other acclaimed roles to his name which demonstrate what an immense and rare talent he was.
This tribute video, for example, showcases some of his best work. Video editor Nick Bosworth shared his tribute earlier this weekend, writing in his caption that it serves as a thank you to the late actor and “the incredible legacy he leaves behind.”

2018 has arrived and we have a whole new year of awesome new movies to look forward to! Before we set off on this new adventure of movie watching, let take one more look back at the films of 2017 in this video called Final Cut 2017, which was edited together by Nick Bosworth, who says:
Wow...we've finally reached the end of 2017. It's been a long and challenging year to say the least with a vast amount of twists and turns along the way. A year of bad decisions, good decisions and growth in ways I couldn't possibly imagine. I couldn't have gotten through it however without the support of my amazing girlfriend Lynn, my family, our leader JoBlo and the amazing site crew, my close friends and of course...the power of amazing cinema. If I've learned anything in this past year, it's that time, honesty, friendship and clear-thoughts are precious...

It looks like they've saved the best for last. Just a few days before the end of the year, trailer maestro Nick Bosworth has launched his retrospective look back at the year in movies with Final Cut 2017 - A Movie Trailer Mashup. Nick has been making these mashups for years, though he didn't post one last year, but he's finally back with one just in time to look back at 2017. We've featured a number of these retrospective videos already, but one more to honor all the great films from this year is fine by us. Between Logan, Atomic Blonde, Mother!, Split, Get Out, and The Post, all the finest movies are featured in this "Final Cut" mashup. From Bosworth on YouTube: "Wow...we've finally reached the end of 2017. It's been a long and challenging year to say the least with a vast amount of twists and turns along the way.
