Zara Jian (1987) is an Armenian actress, director and producer. She had to start working abroad already as a teenager to make her ties end due to the hard financial crisis in Armenia. Some years later she graduates with degrees in economics and TV show management and moves to Hollywood where she meets Ivanna Chubbuck and during 3 years, she attends her studio classes based on her book "The Power of the actor". Parallelly, she learns the Meisner technique and Stanislavsky actor's system and later Frank Stain studio in Barcelona. In 2017 Zara decides to go back to her motherland and invest her professional and life expertise in the Armenian film industry. As a producer she organizes Ivana Chubbuck's Master Class in Armenia with the support of a state fund, which moved a generation of actors and filmmakers. In 2020 Zara went to the war front in Armenia to rescue children and refugees from Artsak and organize psychological help, painting sessions and humanitarian aid. She later creates her own company Boomerang Media.AM and auto-produces and directs her first feature film "Leona End Mark", which she shot during pandemics in winter 2022 in a closed environment under harsh sanitary restrictions. The solution to shoot the entire feature film within five days is to concentrate on the actor's performance and drama skills of storytelling in Kammerspiel style. Her focus as a filmmaker is set on such genres as psychological thrillers, mystery, documentary and detective serial formats.
For 2023 are several projects in the production of Boomerang Media.Am and one of them are supported by the national funds.
Zara hopes to contribute to Armenian film industry development and dreams to open a film school in Armenia. She strongly believes that recognition in European film culture can give a breath to the new wave of Armenian cinema especially after tragic events in 2020.
