Jane Ballentyne is a filmmaker from Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Her most recent short film 'Dandelion' won recognition in a number of International Film Festivals, notably the BAFTA-qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival. The film was also selected as a semi-finalist in the Academy Aware + BAFTA-qualifying Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival, 2021.
In 2017 she was shortlisted as part of the NZ Film Commission's Development Lab for a short comedy that was later produced by the NZ Film & Television School [Te Auaha].
Jane is in development with 'Fired Up Productions' to film tragi-comedy short, 'The Worth of Things' (2022). 'TWOT' qualified for the Academy Award & BAFTA-qualifying Raindance Script Competition (2022), where it placed second in the short film category. The script also made the semi-finals of the Academy Award qualifying HollyShorts Screenplay Competition (2022).
Jane is expanding the premise of 'TWOT' into a feature film.
