Kate Snow, the NBC News veteran who has anchored the network’s Sunday broadcast of “NBC Nightly News” since 2015, plans to exit the post next week, she disclosed to viewers of the program Sunday evening, citing growing responsibilities tied to streaming content.
The move may be a sign that her presence is needed elsewhere. Snow, who is also a senior national correspondent for NBC News, has since September of 2022 co-anchored parts of “NBC News Daily,” a set of daytime hours that both stream on NBC News Now and appear in the daytime schedules of all NBC affiliates. NBC News has placed increasing emphasis on reaching viewers with streaming content, and has continued to expand the original programming it offers in that venue. Those duties, plus those that have Snow reporting on stories during the week for “Today” and the weekday broadcasts of “NBC Nightly News,” have begun to add up.

William Morris Endeavor want nothing to do with Billy Cosby or a sexual assault case against the much-accused comedian.
In paperwork filed in LA Superior Court yesterday, WME asserted that they should not be a co-defendant in Linda Ridgway-Whitedeer’s claims that the man once known as “America’s Dad” forced her to perform oral sex on him back in 1971.
Having first went public with the alleged assault in 2015 as dozens of women came forward against Cosby, the plaintiff’s civil suit of September this year says that “at the time of the sexual assault, the William Morris Agency knew, or should have had knowledge of Defendant’s repeated acts of sexual assault.”
Now, the agency that Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell created out of the 2009 melding of William Morris and Endeavor proclaims they had “no control” over what did or did not happen 52 years ago.

Bill Cosby is a free man, but now the disgraced comic actor is facing yet another civil suit alleging sexual battery.
A New Mexico woman claims Cosby drugged and raped her when she was working as a waitress at a Bay Area restaurant more than 50 years ago.
In an 11-page complaint filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court (read it here), Donna Motsinger said she met the comic actor in 1972 at The Trident in Sausalito, north of San Francisco, where Cosby was a “regular.” The suit alleges that he followed Motsinger to hear home in nearby Mill Valley and invited her to his stand-up show at Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, where he was to record what became the LP Inside the Mind of Bill Cosby.

Bill Cosby has been sued again for sexual assault, this time in Nevada under a newly-enacted law that eliminates the statute of limitations for civil cases.
The nine women bringing the suit are Janice Dickinson, Lise-Lotte Lublin, Janice Baker Kinney, Lili Bernard, Heidi Thomas, Linda Kirkpatrick, Rebecca Cooper, Pam Joy Abeyta and Angela Leslie.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for Nevada, accuses Cosby of using his “enormous power, fame and prestige” to target each of them. Nearly six months after five women, who had previously accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault, filed new lawsuits against him under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, former Playboy model Victoria Valentino, 80, has filed her own lawsuit.
Valentino’s lawsuit follows California’s bill to temporarily extend the statute of limitations in sexual assault cases that exceed the 10-year statute of limitations. She claims that she was drugged and raped by the comedian after they ran into each other at a restaurant in Los Angeles in 1969. Valentino first made accusations against Cosby in 2014.
She says that Cosby came up to her when she was crying over the death of her son and gave her a pill. He reassured her that the pill would make her feel better. After taking it, she purportedly became debilitated by the drug and “engaged in forced sexual intercourse” with Cosby.

Bill Cosby was released from prison in 2021 after his 2018 sexual assault conviction was overturned — but now he will be answering for his alleged crimes in court once again. Previously, Cosby was sentenced to serve up to 10 years behind bars for the sexual assault of Andrea Constand but the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that the prosecution against Cosby was an unfair violation of due process. As they cited, Cosby only made incriminating admissions of guilt under the belief that he would not be criminally prosecuted. At the time, his release created as many waves as the initial wave of 60 women who came forward with the same story of being drugged and raped by TV’s most famous dad. But now, New York has passed the Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims the chance to seek justice for one year even if the crime happened after the statute of limitations ran out.

(Updated with Gloria Allred statement) Bill Cosby will not get to re-litigate a sexual assault civil case involving a minor from the 1970s, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge says.
“Cosby has failed to establish he received an unfair trial or that insufficient evidence existed to establish his liability for Plaintiff’s harm,” Judge Craig Karlan said in a September 27 ruling. The decision denies the man once known as America’s Dad’s desire for a retrial on the decades-old claims by Judy Huth.
The ruling by the Lasc judge came fairly quickly after hearing arguments on September 23 in the Santa Monica Courthouse.
Attorneys for Cosby had sought to have Karlan overturn the June jury decision against their client, based primarily on timeline inconsistencies in Huth’s case. The Gloria Allred-represented Huth initially had claimed back in 2014 that Cosby assaulted her in Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion when she was 15 years old.

Cosby was ordered to pay the victim — Judy Huth, who was 16 at the time of the sexual assault that took place at the Playboy Mansion — 500,000 in damages after a jury found him guilty during a civil trial.

Lawyers for Bill Cosby argued Thursday that Judy Huth’s revision of details of her case — namely, the year she was sexually assaulted — unfairly denied the comedian the chance to investigate and interview witnesses who could have corroborated his defense.
Jennifer Bonjean, representing Cosby, argued that the 11th-hour correction warrants a new trial. A month before a jury found that Cosby assaulted Huth when she was 16 years old at the Playboy Mansion, Huth said that the incident actually occurred in 1975 and not 1974 as she initially alleged.
Bonjean detailed how no discovery was conducted for the new time period. If she had known, she said she could have potentially been able to present numerous witnesses identified in visitor records that were discovered after the jury was already selected to refute Huth’s account of events.
“Mr. Cosby was greatly prejudiced because of the late...

Wielding his celebrity status and a “sense of invincibility,” Bill Cosby sexually assaulted three teenagers in a string of attacks in 1975 using a “common plan” and clear “intent,” lawyer Nathan Goldberg told jurors Wednesday during opening statements in the long-awaited trial involving accuser Judy Huth.
Cosby, 84, is only facing civil liability for Huth’s claims he forced her into a sex act at the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 years old in 1975, but Goldberg told jurors that they will hear testimony from all three women during the trial now underway in Santa Monica,...

Cosby finds an interesting way into the discussion, as Bell interviews past co-workers, academics and women about their conflicted feelings. Lili Bernard says she couldn’t help but feel “nauseated” Monday when she woke up to the news the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review the stunning decision last year that overturned Bill Cosby’s criminal conviction.
“It’s depressing and maddening – but not surprising. This is where our country is leaning,” Bernard, who is now suing Cosby in federal court in New Jersey for an alleged rape in one of Donald Trump’s Atlantic City hotels in 1990, says.

The Supreme Court has declined an appeal by Pennsylvania prosecutors in Bill Cosby’s overturned sexual assault conviction. Cosby had been convicted of sexual assault in 2018 and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison, but he was released in June 2021 after the Pennsylvania supreme court overturned the ruling in a stunning decision. The Supreme Court’s rejection keeps the reversal in place.
The Pennsylvania court determined last year that Cosby’s due process rights had been violated during his conviction and that a 2005 agreement with former prosecutor Bruce Castor should have prevented him from being charged again.
“The collective weight of these considerations led D.A. Castor to conclude that, unless Cosby confessed, there was insufficient credible and admissible evidence upon which any charge against Mr. Cosby related to the Constand incident could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,’” read the decision.

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear a case of sexual assault against Bill Cosby, leaving in place a decision by Pennsylvania’s highest court to throw out his conviction and set him free.
The 83-year-old comedian was released last June after he served three years of a three-to 10-year state prison sentence over a felony sexual assault charge from 2018. In overturning the conviction, the state’s Supreme Court ruled that Cosby cannot be retried and that the prosecutor who brought the case was bound by an agreement from his predecessor to not bring charges.
The court’s decision was included in a long list of pending cases that were denied. As is common for the Supreme Court, no reason was given for the rejection.
In a statement Monday, Cosby’s representative Andrew Wyatt offered their “sincere gratitude” to the Supreme Court “for following the rules of law...

The Supreme Court on Monday left in place a decision that led to the release of Bill Cosby last year.
Pennsylvania prosecutors had sought a review of a state Supreme Court decision that overturned Cosby’s conviction on sexual assault charges. He was released in June.
The high court on Monday declined to review the case (read it here).
Prosecutors had filed a petition for a writ of certiorari, arguing that “the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s expansion of the Due Process Clause goes far beyond anything contemplated by this Court.”
Cosby’s legal team lashed out at Montgomery County, Pa, prosecutors for filing the petition, calling it “a pathetic last-ditch effort that will not prevail.”
Cosby was convicted in 2018 of sexual assault of former Temple University employee Andrea Constand. Cosby has maintained that they engaged in consensual relations.

“When you leave here, Google ‘Bill Cosby, rape,'” the guy in the grainy video says. You know the clip we’re talking about. It’s Hannibal Buress, a stand-up working out material in the middle of a set in 2014. It ends with the young comic calling out the actor/comedian/educator/TV-sitcom king for being a rapist. “That shit is upsetting if you didn’t know about it,...

The primary simultaneous imbalance and blessing of W. Kamau Bell’s We Need To Talk About Cosby is that even with a running time of four-hours, it’s clear by the end there’s still a lot more to say about the ex-convicted sex offender who was once America’s Dad.

“The idea being if I’m to really learn the lessons of Bill Cosby then this is a part of that,” W. Kamau Bell says of the trenchant We Need to Talk About Cosby.
“This is about being smart, being aware, caring about your community,” adds the director of the four-episode docuseries, which is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday and on Showtime on January 30.
Already one of the most anticipated offerings of this year’s virtual festival, We Need to Talk About Cosby uses a very large canvas to paint a portrait of Bill Cosby, the onetime imprisoned and convicted sex offender, including the creation of his posture as “America’s Dad” decades ago and the contradictions that linger after two trials and Cosby’s early release last year.
To that end, the United Shades of America host employs a number of circumspect techniques to tell the sometimes-sordid tale.

Kevin Steele, the district attorney from Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, who put Bill Cosby in prison in 2018, has filed an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate the disgraced comedian’s conviction. Cosby was released from prison on June 30 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that former prosecutor Bruce Castor’s decision not to prosecute Cosby in 2005 should have prevented him from being charged by a successor D.A. in 2015.
In the petition to the U.S. Supreme Court, Steele’s office called the Pennsylvania court’s ruling “a dangerous precedent.”
“A prosecution announcement not to file charges should not trigger due process protections against future criminal proceedings because circumstances could change, including new incriminating statements by the accused,” the prosecutor’s office argued.
Cosby, 84, was convicted in 2018 and was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his Philadelphia home in 2004. He served...

Updated with full interview and transcript: In her first major TV interview since the overturning of the ruling against Bill Cosby, accuser Andrea Constand told NBC News she considers him a “sexually violent predator” with “zero remorse.”
The decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to overturn Cosby’s conviction left Constand “shocked” and “disappointed.” Asked if it left her questioning whether it was worth enduring a grueling and public legal process and facing intense scrutiny, she said, “It was worth it. But it was worth it because I wasn’t alone.”
More of their sit-down aired Tuesday on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. You can read a transcript below.
Constand told NBC News’ Kate Snow that even though Bill Cosby’s conviction was overturned and he was released from prison, she still feels that her allegations of sexual assault against Cosby were believed. “I was vindicated,” Constand said. “I was validated.

Sunni Welles, an actress, singer and one of the woman who accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault, has died. She was 72.
Welles’ passing was announced Tuesday by her son Shaun O’Banion, who referred to her as an “extraordinary woman.” She died Monday in a hospice care center in Downey, California.
Welles first got her start as a child actress, appearing on shows such as “Leave It to Beaver” and “My Three Sons,” taking her stage name from the word “Sunshine” and her surrogate father, screenwriter Halsted Welles.

Lionsgate has pulled out of a documentary project about Bill Cosby, Variety has learned. The project was in the works for years with Cosby’s cooperation, and has gained attention since he was released from prison. But now, the company has killed it, opening the door for it to be shopped elsewhere.
