“Trolls Band Together” is nearly here. And before you rejoin Branch (Justin Timberlake), Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and the rest of the gang (this time in a daring attempt to save Branch’s boy band brothers), why not go behind the scenes of DreamWorks Animation’s latest marvel in this exclusive behind-the-scenes video? You can watch it above.
In the video you can see brand-new “Trolls” universe characters, like the inhabitants of Vacation Island that take on the appearance of floppy puppets. Plus learn more about Rhonda, the psychedelic, sentient bus that transports the trolls on their go-for-broke adventure.
“The best part about working on ‘Trolls’ is the incredible artists that we get to work worth,” director Walt Dohrn says in the featurette. “And pushing this world into new and exciting places.” Earlier in the piece, Dohrn says that he really wanted “Trolls Band Together” to have its own identity and...

So, this was a rather weak one. But a season is granted at least one underwhelming endeavor, right? Although you would typically expect a contemporary show to go all out and leave nothing to chance when countless other sources are claiming the audience’s attention at all times. Quite unfair, don’t you think? But as we on this side of the screen are hardly immune to the alterations brought forth by time, so must the content that wishes to keep us hooked evolve in synchronicity. But I would still choose to keep the fire alight for “School Spirits” while keeping my fingers crossed for no further disappointment.

Paramount+’s School Spirits episode seven begins with Simon (Kristian Flores) wondering why Nicole (Kiara Pichardo) ghosted him all weekend and forgot to pick him up for school. She claims she’s been busy working on her portfolio and, of course, she doesn’t mention being out in the woods all alone with a shovel after the homecoming dance.
Simon’s also a little distracted and is wearing mismatched socks for his interview with Northwestern. He’s hoping the Northwestern alum will understand that he’s been thinking about his best friend being murdered. Simon admits he doesn’t think it makes any sense that the janitor killed her. (He knows Maddie didn’t have a sack of cash which is supposedly the motive for her murder.

Episode five of Paramount+’s School Spirits opens with Wally (Milo Manheim) trying to get the other ghosts pumped up for the Homecoming game. It’s 10 hours until game time, and Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman) encourages the ghosts to sign up for the prep committee.
Rhonda (Sarah Yarkin) is doing her best not to be a Debbie Downer, now that she’s decided to move on to a new plane of existence with Mr. Martin’s help. Charley (Nick Pugliese) would rather go track down Maddie but instead, he remains in the gym to help Wally pump up balloons.
Meanwhile, Claire’s crew has set up an impressive booth and are busy urging their fellow students to vote. Maddie (Peyton List) and Simon (Kristian Flores) have been tailing Claire for a week but still haven...

It’s a good feeling to have my hunch validated by a show I started with scant optimism. It feels even better that my serendipitous mention of ‘One Tree Hill’ on the first recap of “School Spirits” has turned out to be not much of a reach after all. Perhaps the saving grace of the show is that its makers aren’t oblivious to its flaws. What makes me really hold out hope for it, however, are the very perceptible notes of refinement peppered around for us to pick up on. Episode 5 has a hold on my heart with the very thing that has convinced me to keep the fire alight for the genre despite being burned way too many times: the bonds forged in the age of the most impact. Of course, adolescence itself is ironic for a group of characters who have been forsaken by life. But the existential optimism,...
