Jessie Buckley has lent her voice to “Three Hares,” the hand-drawn animated short film from BAFTA-winning filmmaker Paloma Baez.
The ecologically-focused film — which has now completed production — was directed and adapted by Baeza from an original story by Hanya Yanagihara, the author of “The People in the Trees,” “A Little Life,” “To Paradise,” and editor-in-chief of T: The New York Times Style Magazine.
As the film’s description goes, “Three Hares” weaves an enchanting creation myth and the mystical origin story of the ancient three hares symbol into an environmental tale about three sisters, who must remind mankind to respect the earth in order to protect their future.
Oscar and BAFTA nominee Buckley (“Wicked Little Letters”, “The Lost Daughter”) narrates the film, which also features an original score by two-time Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla and co-composer Juan Luqui (“The Last of Us”).

With Sara Dosa’s Fire of Love earning a well-deserved Oscar nomination and Laura McGann’s The Deepest Breath getting a buzzy Sundance bow, the documentary subgenre of romances forged against photogenic and death-defying backdrops (sometimes featuring real-life tragedy) continues to thrive.
Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, who won an Academy Award for Free Solo, one of the best films of this type, are back on tangentially similar terrain with Wild Life, an SXSW premiere that will get a brief theatrical run before hitting NatGeo. Less an adrenaline-filled suspense piece than Free Solo, Wild Life is a sad and inspiring love story, as well as a portrait of great wealth put to humanity’s common good, even if it glosses over a number of ethical head-scratchers. It’s still beautiful to look at, but I most enjoyed Wild Life as a complicated procedural about land use (don’t expect...

The Last of Us has gone from being a popular video game, to an acclaimed HBO television series, and now to a 66-song soundtrack featuring an intricate world-building score from composers Gustavo Santaolalla and David Fleming alongside a cover of Linda Ronstadt’s “Long Long Time” by Nick Offerman.
“Creating the music for the HBO series based on the video game The Last of Us was, in a way, an expansion of what we have developed and recorded for the first installment of the game,” Santaolalla said in a statement.

HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.
After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”
