Alison Oliver, Sasha Lane, Joe Alwyn and Jemima Kirke have been cast in leading roles in Hulu and BBC Three’s “Conversations With Friends,” based on “Normal People” author Sally Rooney’s debut novel.
“Conversations with Friends” follows Frances (Oliver), a 21 year old college student, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time. Frances is observant, cerebral and sharp. Her ex-girlfriend, now best friend, Bobbi (Lane) is self-assured, outspoken and compelling. The BBC and Hulu have set the cast for Conversations With Friends, their second, highly-anticipated Sally Rooney adaptation following the soaraway success of Normal People.
The Favourite star Joe Alwyn and Girls actress Jemima Kirke will headline the series alongside Utopia’s Sasha Lane and newcomer Alison Oliver, who could be propelled into the spotlight in the same way that Normal People made stars out of Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal.

“American Honey” actress Sasha Lane will star on “Sharp Objects” author Gillian Flynn’s upcoming Amazon series “Utopia,” TheWrap has learned.
“Utopia” follows a group of young adults, who meet online, and “are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come in to possession of a near-mythical cult underground graphic novel — they discover the conspiracy theories in the comic’s pages may actually be real and are forced in to the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.”
Lane has been cast as one of the drama’s leads, Jessica Hyde, who is described as “tough and feral after a life on the run from a mysterious and dangerous group, Jessica believes all the answers about her perplexing life story may be hidden in the graphic novel ‘Utopia’.”

Exclusive: Sasha Lane, who starred in Andrea Arnold’s 2016 Cannes-winning pic American Honey in her first feature role, has signed with Wme. The part earned her a Best Actress British Independent Film Award.
Lane currently appears in a pair of Sundance 2018 films: Hearts Beat Loud opposite Nick Offerman and Kiersey Clemons in theaters now, and grand prize winner The Miseducation of Cameron Post starring Chloë Grace Moretz. The latter pic bows August 3 via FilmRise.
