Irena Ivanova (1989 ) is a writer, scriptwriter, theater director and actress.
For her part in the movie "Godless", a film by Ralitza Petrova, she received several prestigious awards for Best Actress: a Silver Leopard (Locarno), the Heart of Sarajevo (Sarajevo), an Aluminium Horse (Stockholm) and a Golden Rose (Varna). She has also a nomination for best actress from the Bulgariam Film Academy.
Her novel "Ostajnica" won her the prestigious Literary Award "Elias Canetti". The same year it was nominated for "Novel of the year " in Bulgaria. The script based on the novel and written by her won several grants for cinema adaptation. The project is a co-production between Bulgaria, Albania and Romania (Catalin Mitulescu). The movie will be shoot in 2023.
Irena Ivanova is an author of sever books. She is one of the most awarded and translated Bulgarian authors. Her books are published in France, Egypt, Poland, China and other.
The plays "Blue Eyes, Black Hair", by Marguerite Duras and Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" are among her latest theatre projects.
Rene Karabsh is founder of Rabbit Hole, a Creative Academy for Writers - the first of its kind in Bulgaria - which brings together some of the most prominent Bulgarian writers, screenwriters and playwrights.
