Steve Lacy has been reflecting on his decision to destroy the disposable camera one of his fans threw at him during a concert in New Orleans last October. At the time, he said he didn’t believe he owed anyone an apology — and after nearly a full year, he still stands by that. Especially as conversations about musicians being pelted with items during their live performances continue to circle back on a nearly-weekly basis, Lacy is backing his choice while also understanding that the whole incident was born from a...

Cameron Esposito has teamed up with Skittles as part of its Pride 2023 program, and the LGBTQ+ comedian and actor is also doing a special Pride-themed miniseries of her podcast. “They asked me to be involved,” Esposito tells TV Insider with a laugh. “I love that. We love to be approached by Skittles. Something I think that’s really special about this campaign and why I said yes is specifically what they do around the packaging, the Pride packaging. So instead of the traditional red Skittles bag that you and I both know from our entire lives, it’s these designs that are really beautiful, that are by LGBTQ+ artists.” She continues, “That’s really what I love about this because to me, in June, if we’re going to show advocacy as a brand, there are folks who put a rainbow on their Instagram, that’s fine. But hiring...

This article contains spoilers for "Shazam: Fury of the Gods."
Who bought Skittles from the concession stand prior to enjoying "Shazam: Fury of the Gods" in theaters this weekend? If you didn't, the movie itself attempts to brainwash us into buying Skittles — or at least buying them as a viable plot device.
On the one hand, it is admittedly funny when "Fury of the Gods" likens the rainbow-colored candy to ambrosia, the nectar of the gods. Steeped in both DC superhero mythology and pop Greek mythology, the movie builds up unicorns as a fearsome, misanthropic threat, only for the youngest member of the Shazamily, Darla Dudley (Faithe Herman), to entice one out of the darkness with Skittles. Having a cute kid sell the idea that Skittles hath charms to soothe the savage beast is an amusing flourish.
On the other hand, the joke wears out its welcome when the "Taste...

Most sequels have a tough enough job just living up to their first movie, and this one would have had a big enough job just being a sequel to the original Shazam! What director David F. Sandberg’s first movie had was the novelty of the story of a boy having the power to just speak a magic word and finding himself in his now adult “ultimate form”, plus the power of being nearly Superman’s equal (some would argue even more), a fun novelty super hero movie. The story also had the subplot of young Billy Batson’s quest to find his mother after having been in foster homes his whole life, only to realize that the foster home he is in has provided him with the family he really needed by the end of the movie. In the end, he creates the Shazam family,...

Shazam!, released in 2019, was the story of Billy (Asher Angel), a teenage boy granted the ability to transform into an adult, off-brand Superman (Zachary Levi) with the simple cry of the film’s title. Today it is rarely upheld as a highlight in DC’s catalogue, but at a time in which the studio’s output so often felt exhaustingly cataclysmic, it was refreshing to see a superhero movie that forefronted sweetness and sincerity.
What a difference four years make. Shazam!’s sequel, Fury of the Gods, has now been sent out, defenceless, into DC’s cinematic no man’s land. The film marks one of the last breaths of an old regime at the studio, which is now under the control of Peter Safran and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. Their universe will presumably dispense with the dishevelled approach to tone and continuity that characterised the tenure of their predecessor Walter Hamada.

In the pantheon of DC superhero movies, David F. Sandberg’s “Shazam!” still stands out as something special: an emotional, character-driven film with good humor and an actual point to make that never let flashy spectacle get in the way of telling a wonderful, personal story.
It would be nice to report that the sequel, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” follows in that tradition. Instead, the best parts of this new movie are drowned out by pointless CGI monsters and tedious action sequences. What worked before still works now, it’s just that now it’s got a whole lot of bland blockbuster pabulum to compete with. It’s as though the world’s greatest restaurant was tucked away at the end of a long, flashy boulevard full of fast food joints, so by the time you get there you’re too full of tasteless junk to enjoy it.

For the first time in more than two years, the cast of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” reunited for the red carpet premiere of their insanely action-packed sequel. Complete with an arcade of pinball machines, video games, cornhole, lightning bolt photo ops and a Skittles bouncy house, the pre-party was pure unadulterated joy.
While director David F. Sandberg couldn’t join due to Covid, returning cast members Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, D.J. Cotona, Grace Caroline Currey, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans, Cooper Andrews, Djimon Hounsou and newbies Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren walked the rain-soaked carpet.

Even if you’re a loyal fan of Friends, you might still not immediately recognize David Schwimmer in Skittles’ new Super Bowl ads.
The actor stars in four 15-second teaser advertisements that drive speculation of what the actual multi-million dollar commercial might be on Feb. 4.
But this year, Skittles is making the pricey ad (which will also feature Schwimmer) most exclusive Super Bowl ad ever by only showing the final footage to one person: a teenager from Canoga Park, USA, named Marcos Menendez.
“The highly exclusive ad will not be leaked to the public, and no, this is not a joke.

Is this David Schwimmer's 2018 Super Bowl ad? He'll never know. While the Friends alum is the star of Skittles' upcoming ad for the big game, Schwimmer won't ever know exactly how it plays out—because only one person will ever see the final footage. That lucky guy is teen Marcos Menendez from Canoga Park, Calif. Fortunately, Schwimmer has a slight idea of what the ad could ultimately entail thanks to four eccentric rough cut videos. In one clip, the actor plays a bizarre tiny third wheel to a puppet and his owner. In another, he's floating in a windblown abyss while in a third, he's sporting a bowl cut and glowing eyes outside of a grocery...
