Ali Sohail Jaura is an independent filmmaker from Karachi, Pakistan, renowned for his expertise in visual storytelling. He has explored various forms of visual media, from short films to documentaries to commercial ad films.
2018 marked a breakthrough year for Ali with his tourism short film "Arz e Pakistan" (Land of Pakistan), which showcased the Northern Regions of Pakistan and won 15 awards worldwide. The film was also featured exclusively on "Ads of the World" in 2019.
Ali's thesis film "Dry Leaves," created during his film graduation, has been an Official Selection at over 35 international film festivals. His latest short film, "Murder Tongue," has won 23 international awards, including "Best International Short Film" at the 39th Miami Film Festival, and has been screened at more than 60 film festivals, including five Oscar-qualifying festivals.
In addition to his passion for filmmaking, Ali co-founded Wide Angle Films in 2019, a company specializing in ad films and branded communications. With a focus on storytelling and an unconventional approach to brand building, the company has quickly gained recognition in the Pakistani advertising industry, delivering several successful campaigns in just five years.
Ali's most recent project is a groundbreaking short film shot in Seoul, South Korea, featuring a Korean cast and crew.
