Exclusive: London-based Alliance Media Partners (Amp) has hired Anthony Buckner as Head of Sales, Acquisitions and Distribution in the run up to the Cannes market.
Former Icon and Kaleidoscope exec Buckner will be overseeing the company’s Cannes slate of genre titles and will be tasked with expansion. He is taking over from longtime Amp partner and sales vet James Norrie who has exited the company.

Director Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Mayhem), screenwriter Dennis Paoli – who worked on the screenplays for the Stuart Gordon-directed H.P. Lovecraft adaptations Re-Animator, From Beyond, Castle Freak, Dagon, and Masters of Horror: Dreams in the Witch-House – and producer Barbara Crampton (who had acting roles in Re-Animator, From Beyond, and Castle Freak) recently teamed up to make a new Lovecraft adaptation called Suitable Flesh (read our review Here) in tribute to Gordon. Last July, it was announced that Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Mayhem) was set to direct an H.P. Lovecraft adaptation that had a screenplay written by Dennis Paoli – who has contributed to the screenplays for some of the most popular H.P. Lovecraft adaptations ever made; Re-Animator, From Beyond, Castle Freak, Dagon, Masters of Horror: Dreams in the Witch-House – and was being produced by Barbara Crampton. Rlje Films and the horror streaming service Shudder have teamed up to acquire the North American rights to “The Pale Door” a horror Western from the famed horror magazine Fangoria and Paper Street Pictures, it was announced Thursday.
“The Pale Door” is directed by Aaron B. Koontz and is the latest hybrid of the horror and Western genres after Fangoria CEO Dallas Sonnier saw success as a producer on the 2015 Kurt Russell movie “Bone Tomahawk.”
Rlje Films hopes to release the film theatrically and on VOD and digital HD in August 2020, and “The Pale Door” will then premiere on Shudder at a later date.

“The Pale Door” is directed by Aaron B. Koontz and is the latest hybrid of the horror and Western genres after Fangoria CEO Dallas Sonnier saw success as a producer on the 2015 Kurt Russell movie “Bone Tomahawk.”
Rlje Films hopes to release the film theatrically and on VOD and digital HD in August 2020, and “The Pale Door” will then premiere on Shudder at a later date.

Alliance Media Partners, the London-based production and finance company with offices in Toronto and La, has struck a non-exclusive agreement with Canadian producer Robert Menzies.
In a related deal, it has also sealed and a separate post-production accord with Toronto-based Eggplant.
The pact with Menzies will see the producer become the company’s Canadian representative, supervising co-productions and bringing in new acquisitions for both Amp’s production and financing arm, as well as its London-based sales arm Amp International.

Mr Turner actor Timothy Spall has boarded the cast of writer-director Daniel Graham’s The Obscure Life Of The Grand Duke Of Corsica, which London-based Amp International is launching at this week’s European Film Market (Efm) in Berlin.
Spall will play a cantankerous yet brilliant architect who embarks on a highly unusual commission in Malta for an eccentric billionaire. Negotiations are underway to cast the latter role.

Fledgling UK production/finance company Alliance Media Partners (Amp) is collaborating with Finland’s Roger! Pictures to produce the action-comedy-sci-fi It Came From The Desert.
The film is the first feature from Roger! Pictures, run by producer Teemu Virta and director Marko Mäkilaakso, whose aim is to produce genre films with budgets of under $1m for the international market.
Iron Sky producer Tero Kaukomaa, a shareholder in Roger!, is an executive producer on the film, which is described as “a smart, pulpy, action monster movie, inspired by Cinemaware’s cult 1980s video game of the same name. Its tall tale involves rival motocross heroes (and heroines), kegger parties in the desert, secret underground military bases, romantic insecurities…and giant ants!”

Snowfort Pictures and the UK’s Alliance Media Partners (Amp) have announced a co-production slate of commercial genre films.
The three projects will see Snowfort handling Us production and Amp fully financing.
First on the slate is 68 Kill from writer/director Trent Haaga, who previously wrote Deadgirl and genre festival hit Cheap Thrills.
Based on the crime novel by Bryan Smith, the film centres on a hard-working guy who can’t say no to beautiful women which lands him in trouble when he agrees to steal $68,000.
Shooting is set to begin in March 2016, with casting currently taking place. CAA will handle domestic sales.
All three films will be developed and produced by Snowfort CEO Travis Stevens [pictured] and Bob Portal on behalf of Amp. The two previously worked together on Simon Rumley’s Red White & Blue.
