Urban Sales has acquired Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov’s third feature The Shameless and will launch sales for the India-set forbidden romance drama at EFM.
The love story follows two women who must wrestle with an oppressive society rooted in centuries-old patriarchal traditions.
It is Bojanov’s follow-up to Avé, that premiered at Cannes’ Critics’ Week in 2011 and Light Thereafter, a world premiere in Rotterdam in 2017.
The Shameless is produced by Switzerland’s Akka Films, France’s Urban Factory, Bulgaria’s Klas Films and Taiwan’s House on Fire.

Frédéric Corvez’s Paris-based Urban Sales has boarded “Pictures of Ghosts”, the latest film of renowned Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho.
The movie, which marks Mendonça Filho’s fifth feature film, will world premiere at Cannes in the Special Screenings section.
“Pictures of Ghosts” will mark the director’s third film to bow at Cannes, following two competition entries, “Bacurau” (co-directed by Juliano Dornelles) which won the Jury Prize n 2019, and “Aquarius” in 2016.
“Pictures of Ghosts” combines archive documentary, mystery, film clips and personal memories. The film is produced by Emilie Lesclaux at CinemaScópio Produções and co-produced by Silvia Cruz and Felipe Lopes’ Vitrine Filmes.
Described as a multidimensional journey through time, sound, architecture and filmmaking, “Pictures of Ghosts” is set in the urban landscape of Recife, located in the Brazilian coastal capital of Pernambuco. Gil is joining Indie Sales from Loco Films, where she headed international sales for four years. Originally from Brazil, where she built an early career in theater as a director and producer, Gil took part part at Femis’ Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris, and UCLA Producer’s Program.
“We are thrilled to welcome Florencia in our young and dynamic team. Her creative and international profile as well as her knowledge of the market are a great addition to the company, that keeps growing,” said Eschbach.

San Sebastian — Paris-based sales agent Loco Films has acquired world sales rights outside Spain and France to “Journey to a Mother’s Room,” a flagship first feature from the Barcelona-based writer-director Celia Rico, part of a young generation of often women directors who are lending new energies and focus to Catalan cinema.
