Andra Tarara (b.1994) is a Romanian artist working in cinema, video art, photography. She is a UNATC Bucharest graduate in Film (2016) and a master's degree graduate in Visual Anthropology from SNSPA Bucharest (2018).
Tarara has directed various films, sliding between documentary, experimental and fiction, selected in Romanian and international film festivals. Her works were also featured in contexts like theatre shows and exhibitions.
Her best-known film "Us Against Us" (premiered at Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival 2020) is a feature documentary made in collaboration with her father, which explores their relationship through an authentic dialogue about the illness that affected both their lives. It won Best Romanian Film Award at Astra Film Festival 2021, and it was also part of cultural initiatives that aim to fight against the stigmatization of mental illnesses.
Since 2019, Tarara also works as an archivist at the Ethnological Archive of the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant.
