A former Fox News Capitol Hill reporter and producer sued the network, claiming that he was wrongfully terminated for speaking out about the network’s false coverage of the 2020 presidential election and the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
In a lawsuit filed in D.C. Superior Court, Jason Donner alleged that he was fired after complaining, in writing, to Fox News’ human resources department and to his supervisor, NuNu Japaridze. In the complaint, sent to them on May 24, 2022, Donner wrote that “Fox News has not supported its journalists since the January 6th attack on the Capitol. By allowing highly paid hosts and contributors to make factually false statements about that day is not only demoralizing but creates a hostile work environment. I barely watch our programming or read our website anymore because it’s hard to stomach these untruths being aired and written.” Donner had previously complained to supervisors about the Capitol siege,...

The fallout from Fox News’ $787.5 million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems continued on Friday, with the network dissolving its investigative unit.
“The rank and file journalists are getting let go. Meanwhile, upper management are sitting pretty while they are the execs responsible for the Dominion debacle,” one Fox employee tells Rolling Stone, which has confirmed the unit has been axed. “We are the sacrificial lambs.”
“Yes, [layoffs] have happened,” another staffer confirms. “And continue to happen.”
Dominion filed a defamation suit against Fox in 2021 for spreading lies about the 2020 presidential election results.

Dominion Voting Systems’ lawsuit against Fox News has placed a glaring spotlight on the internal workings of the network, revealing a marked disconnect between what executives and hosts said privately about the 2020 election and what they broadcast to millions of viewers. Documents and internal communications made public in new court filings highlight the degree to which the network was willing to punish their own staff to avoid angering their audience with factual reporting.

NASA successfully smashed a spacecraft into an asteroid on Monday, in a test to see if current technology can divert the path of such objects that may one day threaten Earth.
The football-stadium sized asteroid did not a pose a danger, but the test, carried on CNN, Discovery and BBC World, was a milestone in planetary defense capabilities.
NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test took place at 4:15 Pm Pt. Cheers were heard from a NASA control room in Laurel, MD as the spacecraft, the size of a vending machine, approached the asteroid Dimorphos and eventually went to a blank, rust-red screen.
“And we have impact … in the name of planetary defense” a NASA official said. Among those present: Bill Nye.
The spacecraft approached the asteroid at more than 14,000 miles per hour, and sent continuous images on its approach, providing dramatic footage that has in the past been the imagination of blockbuster filmmakers.

Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News Channel, he announced on his program Sunday morning, and will join the CNN Plus streaming-video outlet, a move that abruptly sunders the cable-news outlet’s connection with one of its most recognized and independent journalists.
Wallace delivered the news himself, in the last minutes of his “Fox News Sunday,” which he has anchored for nearly two decades on the Fox Corporation-owned outlet. “I want to try something new, to go beyond politics to all the things I’m interested in. I’m ready for a new adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out,” said Wallace. The words will be the last he utters on the program.
CNN confirmed Wallace’s jump less than two hours after he announced his departure, and said he would lead a daily show during which he would interview newsmakers from the worlds of politics, business, sports and culture.

Kristin Fisher, who has been White House correspondent for Fox News since 2019, announced Friday that she is leaving the network.
She made the announcement on Special Report with Bret Baier, telling the anchor, “This is my last live shot on my last day at Fox News and I’ve had an incredible run.”
She did not say what she would be doing next. But according to a source familiar with her plans, Fisher is going to CNN to cover space as a correspondent. A spokesperson for CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Reporting from the North Lawn of the White House, she said, “I started out 6 years ago on the early morning weekend shift. I made it all the way to the White House, which is something that has been at the very top of my career bucket list ever since I was a very little girl.

Fox News Channel said Peter Doocy, a Washington-based correspondent at the cable-news network, would move to the White House beat, working alongside Kristin Fisher and filling a spot left vacant by John Roberts’ coming move to the anchor desk.
Doocy, whose father, Steve Doocy, is the co-anchor of the network’s “Fox & Friends” morning program, spent the 2020 election cycle covering President-elect Joe Biden, on occasion eliciting criticism from the man slated to take the reins of the Oval Office next week. After Doocy asked Biden a question about his son, Hunter Biden, who came under scrutiny during the campaign, the elder Biden called Doocy a “one-horse pony.”
“Peter’s affable nature, tireless work ethic and dedication to advancing the story on the campaign trail further enhanced our reporting throughout the historic 2020 election cycle,” said Jay Wallace, president of Fox News Media, in a statement.

Peter Doocy, Who Covered Joe Biden’s Presidential Campaign, Named Fox News White House Correspondent
Peter Doocy has been named White House correspondent at Fox News, joining Kristin Fisher on the beat.
Fox News earlier this week announced that John Roberts would shift from the White House to a daytime co-anchor role.
Doocy covered Joe Biden’s presidential campaign from the start, and became known for occasional pointed exchanges with the candidate. Last month, at a press conference, Doocy asked Biden whether he still thinks “stories from the fall about your son Hunter were Russian disinformation and a smear campaign, like you said?”
“Yes. Yes. Yes. God love you, man. You’re a one-horse pony,” Biden responded.
Doocy will begin his new role on Jan. 20, when Biden is sworn in. During the 2020 campaign, he also interviewed candidates Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar, as well as President Donald Trump.

President Donald Trump’s challenges to Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential race have triggered escalating concerns over a turbulent transition process and what it portends for democratic stability, but the most justified fears may be that the electorate has split into alternate information universes.
A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll showed that 52% of Republicans said that Trump “rightfully” won the election, and only 29% said that about Biden.
It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where an ex-president Trump continues his rallies and tweets, all with his false claims that the election was stolen from him, and tries to dominate news cycles by dangling the prospect of a 2024 run. It’s always possible that he will do what his predecessors have done, which is to recede from the limelight, but does that even sound like Donald Trump?

The sight of President Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, throwing off conspiracy theories and hair dye yesterday in TV’s once-humdrum daytime hours, would not too long ago have proven to be catnip that no TV-news outlet could resist. Yesterday, many of them did.
Few if any of the nation’s TV-news outlets aired live Thursday’s press conference from the legal team spearheading the president’s efforts to overturn the election. And Fox News, which did, followed it up with reporting from Kristin Fisher, a White House correspondent, who noted: “Well, that was certainly a colorful news conference from Rudy Giuliani, but it was light on facts. So much of what he said was simply not true or has already been thrown out in court.” Later that evening, primetime host Tucker Carlson told viewers he had invited Sidney Powell, another Trump attorney to appear, but noted “she never sent us any evidence.

President Donald Trump teased a press conference featuring Rudy Giuliani, his personal attorney now leading his challenge of the election results, and for sheer theatrics, it did not disappoint.
“Well, that easily was the most outlandish press conference ever held by a team of lawyers representing the President of the United States,” wrote National Review editor Rich Lowry.
Fox News carried the marathon presser live and in its entirety, along with Trump-supporting networks One America News Network and Newsmax. CNN and MSNBC skipped it.

The nation’s TV-news outlets have spent countless hours covering the coronavirus pandemic. On late Wednesday afternoon, for at least a little while, they will focus on something entirely different.
CBS News, NBC News and ABC News are preparing to break into regularly scheduled programming a few minutes before 4:30 p.m. eastern Wednesday in a bid to chronicle the launch of a joint mission between Nasa and entrepreneur Elon Musk’s SpaceX that will represent the first time American astronauts will take off from U.S. soil since 2011. Both Fox News Channel and MSNBC are planning to break away from regular programming at that time in order to bring viewers coverage of the spectacle. Fox News will offer Fox Broadcasting affiliates special coverage of the event at 4:25 p.m. with anchor Leland Vittert.
Some news divisions are using the launch to highlight emerging business ventures and new means of distribution.

During Monday’s press briefing on his administration’s handling of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, President Donald Trump lashed out at a Fox News reporter Kristin Fisher after she pressed him about the timeline of testing results.
“Testing is still a big issue in this country,” Fisher said. “When can hospitals expect to receive a quick turnaround of these test results?”
Trump then went into a long, rambling response where he shifted responsibility to the states and said he should be praised instead of being asked such a “horrid” question by her.

The President, fresh off a week featuring three Make America Great Again rallies and the swearing-in of Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, was back at it on Twitter this morning.
The Commander-in-Tweet clarified the Friday release of American pastor Andrew Brunson, who has been detained by Turkey and accused of spying and aiding terrorists. The President, whose book The Art of the Deal was a best-seller, insisted there was no deal on the release.
Moving along, the President posted a Washington Examiner article lauding his accomplishments, and saluted football great and activist Jim Brown, who appeared at a White House music licensing bill signing last week.
The tweets so far:
