Ready for a James Bond 007 singalong? James Bond: The Musical is on the way...
If you're one of those people who watches a James Bond movie, and thinks it could be enhanced by a big song and dance number every time 007 takes someone out, then this may yet be your favourite of every story we've ever run.
For plans are afoot for a James Bond musical, which is currently being targeted for a 2017 premiere on Broadway. The idea is that the musical will include classic villains, one or two new ones, a fresh Bond girl and a new James Bond. Well, unless Pierce Brosnan wants to build on his Mamma Mia! days.
The show currently goes by the title of James Bond: The Musicial, with Dave Clarke penning the book for the show. The music and lyrics will be the work of country music composer Jay Henry Weisz.

The queen's most intrepid secret agent is jumping off the screen and onto the stage in his first ever Broadway musical. Per Playbill, "James Bond: The Musical" will be written by novelist Dave Clarke, with music and lyrics by country singer Jay Henry Weisz (um, what?). With an array of new villains, new Bond girls, and new narrative heights, Bond on Broadway may well be a crowd-pleaser, if not a casualty of cultural and corporate stratagem. Aiming for a 2017-2018 release, producer Merry Saltzman (daughter of longtime Bond producer Harry Saltzman) hopes to invigorate the franchise with some highbrow thrills and lowbrow panache. Take Our Poll: Who Should Play the Next James Bond? No word yet on who will play the legendary spy, but he'll have some big (and expertly fitted) shoes to fill. Broadway has been ponying up for Hollywood properties recently -- to varying success. (This year's Tony Awards,...

A week ago, Playbill announced that Placeholder Productions has reportedly acquired the rights for a spy-centric stage production based on Ian Fleming's super spy character.
Currently going by the not so subtle title of "James Bond: The Musical," the project is being executive produced by Merry Saltzman, daughter of legendary Bond film producer Harry Saltzman.
Dave Clarke ("Keeping Hannah Waiting") is said to be handling the show's book, while country composer Jay Henry Weisz will pen the music and lyrics. The project is said to have an original storyline, one that uses several pre-existing Bond villains along with some new ones, and its very own Bond girl.
The aim would be to get the show out late 2017-early 2018 either on Broadway or in Las Vegas. No casting has yet been announced.

I love James Bond. I love musicals. That does not mean the two should be smashed together, but no one ever really cares about what I love. Merry Saltzman, the daughter of former Bond producer Harry Saltzman, has acquired the rights for a James Bond stage adaptation and is looking to put up the show on Broadway or in Las Vegas in the 2017-18 season. So, James Bond: The Musical, as it is tentatively titled, is coming. The show will feature a new story, "several Bond villains, plus some new ones", and "our own Bond girl", according to Saltzman. No casting has been announced yet. The book will be written by novelist Dave Clarke (Keep Hannah Waiting, who also does not even have a Wikipedia page) and music and lyrics by country composer Jay Henry Weisz (same applies to him). So, we have two people who have not worked on...

We've seen James Bond tussling with bad guys, driving fast cars in chases, firing guns, and seducing sexy sirens. Now, it seems we'll get to see him do something totally new - singing, maybe even dancing.
Yes, in news of the strange, James Bond is coming to Broadway! Playbill reports that producer Merry Saltzman - daughter of legendary Bond film producer Harry Saltzman - has secured the rights to turn Ian Fleming's novels into a stage musical. Novelist Dave Clarke ("Keeping Hannah Waiting") will write the book, and country composer Jay Henry Weisz will handle the music and lyrics.
Producers told Playbill that the musical will have an original storyline, "several Bond villains, plus some new ones," as "our own Bond girl." They hope to open the show in late 2017 or early 2018.
Casting is still undetermined, though it's highly improbable that Daniel Craig would be involved (though he can sing!

Because you can never have enough James Bond, Agent 007 will soon make an unlikely leap from the big screen to to the stage, according to Playbill. Exec producer Merry Saltzman — the daughter of big-time Bond guy Harry Saltzman — told the publication that her Placeholder Productions has nabbed rights for a song-and-dance superspy show. Aptly titled James Bond: The Musical, the project will reportedly feature a new story, as well as its own villains and Bond girl. Saltzman is aiming for a late 2017 or early 2018 debut, either for Broadway or Las Vegas (because with Spectre coming out later this year, four years would be too long a wait). Most of the personnel info is currently under wraps, but Bond: The Musical will have a book by novelist Dave Clarke, and music and lyrics by country composer Jay Henry Weisz. What will it look and sound like?...

James Bond has never seemed the kind of guy who would enjoy bursting into song, but a musical version of 007 is apparently on its way.
Merry Saltzman, the daughter of Bond producer Harry Saltzman, has secured the rights to a Bond stage show, according to Playbill.
James Bond: The Musical will include music and lyrics from Jay Henry Weisz, while Dave Clarke has written the story.
It will have an original plot, including "several Bond villains, plus some new ones," producers said.
Production and casting details have yet to be announced, but Saltzman hopes it will debut in late 2017 or early 2018 in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding has emerged as a new favourite to sing the theme tune to Spectre, after Sam Smith denied his involvement.
Daniel Craig returns as Bond in Spectre, which will be released in cinemas on November 6. Watch a trailer below:...
