When we think of the greatest kisses in movie history, there are some genuine classics that come to mind: Lady and the Tramp smooching via spaghetti, Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr embracing on the beach in From Here to Eternity, Michael Corleone sealing brother Fredo’s fate in The Godfather Part II…And up there with all of these is the upside down kiss from 2002’s Spider-Man, in which Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane peels up her hero’s mask and plants one in a New York downpour. And as immediately iconic as it was, the scene was something of a pain to shoot.
As Dunst recalled of the famous Spider-Man scene, “I remember Sam Raimi giving me a book of famous kisses to be inspired but also he really wanted to make it special even though it was kind of miserable actually doing it…It was pouring with rain,...

Noé Debré, the co-writer of “Dheepan” and “Stillwater” and creator of the European Parliament sendup series “Parlement,” marks his feature directorial debut with the bittersweet comedy “A Nice Jewish Boy.”
Produced by Moonshaker, sold by Charades and making its world market premiere at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Paris, the freewheeling film follows a 27-year-old man-child Bellisha (Michael Zindel) and his ailing mother, Giselle (Agnès Jaoui), who together make up the last remaining Jews living in a working class neighborhood that all of their friends and family have long since fled.
At first that’s just as well for the easy-going Bellisha, but health concerns, prejudice and most of all an acute sense of alienation soon begin to creep in. Below, Variety catches up with Debré at this year’s Rendez-Vous.
How did this feature idea come about?
I saw a short film called “Masel Tov Cocktail,” about a Russian-Jewish teenager living in Germany.

Mickey Mouse, the iconic fi – oh, you don’t need a refresher on who Mickey Mouse is? Well, the Disney mascot is now officially in the public domain…under certain specifications. In short, you won’t be seeing him and Goofy slashing their way through Disney World anytime soon…
As U.S. copyright law says a work can enter the public domain 95 years after its publication, a form of Mickey Mouse will be made available for use by anyone. This chiefly concerns Steamboat Willie, which is generally considered the debut of Mickey Mouse, although Plane Crazy and The Gallopin’ Gaucho were both produced prior to the landmark short. As such, those films will also be in the public domain.
But the Mickey Mouse of Steamboat Willie is most definitely not the same as the Mickey Mouse we all identify. The 1928 version has more rat-like features, with an elongated nose, smaller...

Disney is well-known for its sea of Christmas releases. Dive into the magic of the season with these wholesome ones ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Disney is known for taking Christmas time very seriously. They go all out with their Christmas special releases and their Holiday-themed movies, and all of them end up being very well-received by the public. This is understandable because Christmas is already a magical time, but add a little Disney fairy dust and a wish upon a star in there, and you have yourself the most magical holiday ever.
Here are five of the best Disney Christmas movies to enjoy with your family and add a touch of that magic to the holiday season.
1. Lady And The Tramp (1955)
When we think of romance, a budding relationship between two dogs is not what comes to mind. However, Disney’s “Lady And The Tramp,” released in 1955, makes us root for...

Lady and the Tramp (1955) was Disney’s fifteenth animated feature film. However, a Charlie Bean-directed live-action/CGI hybrid remake was released in 2019. A notable difference between the two movies is the significant adjustment in its storyline. Despite these differences, the general story remains the same. Lady and the Tramp follows the relationship between Lady, a Cocker Spaniel raised and pampered by her owners, and Tramp, a stray dog being pursued by a dogcatcher. One major reason for the success of Lady and the Tramp is its slew of interesting characters in the movie—humans, dogs, and even cats. Most of the...

One can often tell a cinephile by the rituals they establish. For my part, I begin every summer by revisiting Jacques Tati’s Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953), the feature debut of his most beloved character. I can no longer remember what drew me to this habit outside of a strong association of the season with the smooth jazz theme to the film “Quel temps fait-il à Paris?”, written by Alain Romans. Revisiting the film last summer, I decided for the first time to put on the 1953 version of the movie instead of the 1978 version I usually watch, which is labeled “definitive” by Les Films de Mon Oncle, the foundation responsible for the restoration and rerelease of Tati’s films. Outside of one addition to this later cut, I was unaware of the differences between them, and couldn’t find much information about the original release. Almost immediately, I was shocked to...

While many have tried to tell a story about the struggles of everyday people, the workers, the salesman and the clerks, only a few have managed to make their story both authentic and have an emotional impact. Tales of the underclass especially have been at the very core of many artists' body of work, for example, Charlie Chaplin whose character of the Tramp is perhaps the most popular figure to embody the needs and the daily fights of people who, despite their hard work, cannot hope to rise to the level of the rich and the famous. Within the Korean film industry, directors such as Kang Dae-jin have also left their mark with stories such as “A Coachman”, a family drama depicting the life of a working class family and their various dreams of happiness and living their lives outside the vicious circle of poverty.

Josephine Chaplin, whose father was screen legend Charlie Chaplin, died July 13 in Paris, her family announced on Thursday. She was 74. A cause of death was not immediately given.
As a child, she appeared with her father in his 1952 film “Limelight” and 1967’s “A Countess From Hong Kong.” She went on to star in the 1972 films “L’odeur des fauves” with future partner Maurice Ronet, Menahem Golan’s “Escape to the Sun” opposite Laurence Harvey; and Pier Paolo Pasolini’s X-rated “The Canterbury Tales” as May, the adulterous wife of the elderly Sir January (Hugh Griffith).
Her later films include 1984’s “The Bay Boy” with Kiefer Sutherland and Liv Ullman. In 1998, she played Hadley Richardson to Stacy Keach’s Ernest Hemingway in the miniseries “Hemingway.”

Sharon Van Etten has dug up a previously unreleased music video for her classic song, “Serpents,” off her 2012 album, Tramp, which will get a special anniversary reissue this year.
The video for “Serpents” was directed by Galazie 500’s Naomi Yang. It begins with Van Etten singing the song against a white brick wall, though the space is soon filled with an entrancing light display that adds a moody, slightly surreal tinge to the clip.
In a statement, Van Etten recalled why she chose not to release the “Serpents” clip back when it was made.

A decades-old photo of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew, and one of their alleged victims Virginia Giuffre is making headlines again after Maxwell gave an interview from prison in which she claimed the image was “fake.”
The former socialite was found guilty for her role in luring young women and girls to her former companion convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. She is now serving a 20-year sentence in Florida. During her interview with the U.K.’s Talk TV, Maxwell said the infamous photo in which she appears in with the disgraced prince and Giuffre “isn’t real.” However, a body language expert is pointing how it looks like they are in the same place at the same time.

It's all about love!
All four plots on Blockbuster Season 1 Episode 5 revolve around love or attraction.
Some are definitely more successful than others!
Carlos's plotline felt disjointed at first, which was probably the point, but it turned into something really funny and even poignant.
It shows how much this little Blockbuster family is bonded. It can be hard not to feel deeply emotionally invested in your co-workers' love lives sometimes.
I can’t believe you dated someone who married themselves. Or listened to Modest Mouse.
