Between Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar, Anthony Fantano, and many more, we’ve heard some pretty good Drake disses over the years. But now, Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def) is giving everyone a run for their money with a new diss of epic proportions. Evoking the literal collapse of modern civilization to drive his point home, the seasoned rapper said that Drizzy’s output is less “hip-hop” and more like shopping at Target.
The comments came during Bey’s recent appearance on the fashion podcast The Cutting Room Floor when host, Recho Omondi, asked point-blank if he considered Drake “hip-hop.” After a pause — and a begrudging “Why are you doing this to me?” — Bey unleashed his opinion: “Drake is pop to me. In the sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song… it feels like a lot of his music is compatible with shopping.

Anthony Fantano is known for sharing pointed musical opinions on his Needle Drop channel, but his latest beef has nothing to do with hip-hop. Fantano has been sued by Activision after contesting the publisher’s decision to use his voice in one of its TikTok videos.
It all started with some over-sliced pizza.
To understand the dispute between Fantano and Activision, we have to travel back to 2021, when the critic reacted to a pizza video on his TikTok account. As the pizza is cut into quarters, then eighths, then sixteenths, Fantano becomes increasingly incensed. By the end of the video, he’s screaming “enough slices!”

That two-word exclamation became a popular meme on TikTok. According to Rolling Stone, “enough slices” has appeared in 54,000 videos, including some follow-ups published by Fantano himself. “Since making this audio wider to the greater TikTok public, the whole...

YouTuber Anthony Fantano has best been known for his video music reviews, but now he’s becoming known for stirring up a feud with Drake.
Fantano recently shared some snarky DMs he received from Drake, who hilariously trolled Fantano after he issued a video he titled “Drake Slid Into My DMs”, claiming that Drake had sent him DMs — which Fantano had apparently faked — featuring, among other topics, a recipe for vegan cookies.
On Thursday night, Drake took to social media to share some actual DMs he’d sent Fantano, displaying them on his Instagram Stories.

Drake revealed his own feud with music critic Anthony Fantano on Instagram Friday (16 September).
The rapper posted the angry DMs he sent Fantano on his Instagram Story after the critic, who is a popular YouTuber, pretended he had received a vegan cookie recipe from him.
“Your existence is a light 1. And the 1 is cause you are alive,” the messages Drake sent read, mimicking Fantano’s style of reviewing out of 10.
“And cause you somehow wifed a Black girl. I’m feeling a light to decent 1 on your existence.”
Fantano had previously scored Drake’s latest album Honestly, Nevermind a “Not Good” out of 10 back in June. It is unclear why the Canadian musician chose to message Fantano his rebuke now.

Born and raised in Yokohama, Japan, Haru Nemuri has been making noise around the Japanese music scene since her first project, “Sayonara, Youthphobia” dropped in 2016. It was only when she released her 2018 ‘official’ debut, “Haru to Shura” that she started to attract some well-deserved momentum internationally, thanks in large to Anthony Fantano Aka Theneedledrop’s sterling, yellow flannel’d review. Drawing acclaim for her seamless fusion of rap, spoken word, electronica, J-pop, and rock, as well as her frenetic vocal delivery and performance style – her live show is like watching an exorcism take place on stage – anticipation for Nemuri’s 2020 follow-up skyrocketed. Also billed as a mini-album, “Lovetheism” clocks in at a swift 7 songs and 25 minutes. Short, yes, but make no mistake, Nemuri wastes no time on pleasantries – she’s here to blow the house down.
The first sounds we hear on “Lovetheism” are the commanding, victorious booms of fanfare trumpets.

YouTube revealed its top videos of the year on Thursday, with Lil Nas X and Shawn Mendes being two of the standout performers when it came to music videos, while established creators like PewDiePie also made an appearance on its year-end roundup.
Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” which featured Billy Ray Cyrus, was the most-viewed music video in the U.S. this year. The video for the mammoth single, which was uploaded in early April, has racked up nearly 470 million views so far — even though it only includes the song and artwork of two horses galloping; the live-action music video that came out the following month, pulling in about 400 million views, ended up being the fifth most-viewed U.S. music video of the year.
Internationally, though, the song was “only” the fifth most-liked music video of the year, falling behind Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, who grabbed the top slot with “Senorita.

Kevin Spacey's apology to Rent actor Anthony Rapp for unwanted sexual advances more than 30 years ago has inspired plenty of backlash from the Hollywood community and beyond.
Critics of the actor take issue with Spacey's decision to use his apology to Rapp to come out as a gay man, calling the move everything from a "deflection" to a "calculated manipulation."
"It is deeply sad and troubling that this is how Kevin Spacey has chosen to come out," Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto wrote in a lengthy message on Twitter.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has responded to Kevin Spacey coming out as gay on Sunday, after actor Anthony Rapp alleged that the Oscar-winning actor made sexual advances on him when he was 14 years old and Spacey was 26.
"Coming out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault,” Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD, said in a statment on Monday. "This is not a coming out story about Kevin Spacey, but a story of survivorship by Anthony Rapp and all those who bravely speak out against unwanted sexual advances. The media and public should not gloss over that.”
In a Buzzfeed News report published on Sunday, the now 46-year-old Rapp alleged that he met Spacey at a post-show event when both performers were starring in separate Broadway shows. The actor claims that he went to a party at Spacey's apartment a few days later and that, as the party ended...

Tim Roth leads an excellent cast in unpredictable new Sky Atlantic revenge drama Tin Star, out now…
“It’s the disposal,” says Tim Roth. “The killing isn’t the problem, it’s the disposal that’s the problem. You run out of space.” The storage issues faced by serial killers aren’t something to which many of us will have devoted much thought. Roth has. Reassuringly, he’s had reason to thanks to his recent sinister role as real-life murderer Reg Christie in BBC drama Rillington Place. “Charming fella” he jokes.

Last Monday was the 100th birthday of the King o’ Comics, Jack Kirby. The young’uns among you might not know the name (or maybe they do; I try not to be a fuddy-duddy most days) but Kirby was a force unparalleled in the comics medium. If you need a primer, Mike Gold wrote an excellent column about him.
Even if you know Marvel only from the movies, you owe him. Captain America? Jack. The X-Men? Jack. The Black Panther? Jack. The Avengers? Jack. And so on and so forth. And not just at Marvel; King Kirby seemed to be everywhere. And not just superheroes; he did Westerns, monsters, romance. And so on and so forth.
I met him in person exactly once.
The first thing I need to explain is that, before I became a professional writer in comics, I was a bonafide geek. Yeah, I still am.

Ben-Hur is an epic historical action drama film directed by Tim Bekmambetov. Not be confused as a remake, the film has been termed as a re-imagining based on the same source material, and follows what happens when a nobleman, Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), is falsely accused of treason by his childhood friend and adoptive brother Messala (Toby Kebbell). He survives years of slavery under the Romans and attempts to get revenge by challenging Messala to a grand chariot race while being forever changed after a series of encounters with Jesus. The film produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey also stars Morgan Freeman.
