Hallmark’s new family drama finished its first season run, and it was a season full of ups and downs.
Ride Season 1 delivered dramatic television due to emotional storylines, character arcs, and dynamic relationships.
While the series quickly became a favorite, it still had some flaws, and in our report card, we examine some of its strengths and how it can improve if it gets a Season 2.
Best Episode: Ride Season 1 Episode 9, "Truths Laid Bare"
While several episodes showcased the theme of family and unconditional love, none featured it better than “Truths Laid Bare.”
After her mom died, Valeria felt unsafe at home, and Isabel and the rest of the McMurrays provided her with a safety net.
Learning the truth about Valeria was just the beginning.
The McMurrays were shocked to learn that Austin had a gambling problem and that Tucker blackmailed him into throwing races right before he died.

Weddings always bring drama, and Laura Booker's wedding brought plenty and shifted several relationships.
The Booker family showed how damaging their family expectations were on Ride Season 1 Episode 8 when their daughter canceled her wedding because she was only getting married to please her parents.
Laura wanted to provide stability for Sophie without all the hidden expectations. It was so obvious that she wanted the perfect wedding to please her mother.
The McMurrays had hoped that planning a big-name wedding for the Bookers would help their business. Unfortunately, after this fiasco, they were in worse shape than before.
They may have lost their investor, Missy lost her boyfriend, and Grace Booker recognized Valeria from her past. It was trouble all around.
It's difficult to live up to family expectations. All Gus's parents seemed to care about was money and image. They loved their daughter and wanted her and Sophie to be financially secure,...

Many of the McMurrays' futures were on the line on Ride Season 1 Episode 7, including Isabel's, Cash's, and Missy's.
Isabel convinced the locals about Canyon Stadium, Cash decided whether to ride with an injury, and Missy decided that displeased Frontier.
Instead of the shock and awe of the last few episodes, "Ride or Die" focused on the character development, family relationships, and sense of community that initially made me love the series.
Isabel and Hank made a deal with the devil, Daniel Booker, to invest in their new rodeo stadium. Isabel only agreed because she thought it would help save the ranch.
Unfortunately, many of the locals were uneasy about Booker's involvement, and soon Isabel became unsure as well.
Partnering with Daniel Booker was a disaster waiting to happen. He only cared about the corporate business side of things, whereas Isabel is a savvy businesswoman with a heart.

Austin cheated, but not the way Missy suspected.
Missy suspected Austin cheated on her and tried to meet the mysterious woman to get answers on Ride Season 1 Episode 6. They weren't the answers she expected, and they could alter everything for the McMurrays.
Meanwhile, Isobel and Hank appealed to Daniel Booker, Gus's dad, to fund their new rodeo stadium.
Missy seemed shaken up after seeing Polly Kern at the Frontier BBQ on Ride Season 1 Episode 5. Since it only just occurred, hearing her repeat the story to everyone in the family felt repetitive.
Things got worse when Missy learned that Gus and Cash got into an old-school brawl. She thought Cash kept secrets from her, too, and wondered if she could trust any of the McMurray men.
Missy: Did you get into a fight with Gus?
Tuff: Really?
Valeria: Busted!
Cash: You’ve had a lot on your mind
Missy:...

Apple TV+ premieres Silo this week, which is a book-to-screen adaptation I can highly recommend. The books were incredible, creating a world unlike anything you've ever experienced, and the series brings it to life with stunning detail.
Fatal Attraction comes to Paramount+, and we finally see the appeal of having more time with a beloved IP, as the fleshed-out story opens a lot of storytelling opportunities.
See what else is coming this week and what finales to keep an eye on below.

8/7c Hearts In the Game (Hallmark)
Erin Cahill and Marco Grazzini star in a new Hallmark movie about making a name for yourself, forgiving past mistakes, and moving forward.
In this one, a publicist helps a pitcher for the New York Mets – and her boyfriend from high school – find his way back to the game and her heart.
Check out a preview for the movie below.

BBC Studios has backed a new UK entertainment label helmed by execs Simon Shalgosky and Daniel Brookes.
The producer-distributor will distribute Rebel Rebel Pictures’ formats globally following the launch of the shingle, which will focus on primetime entertainment and factual entertainment shows.
Shalgosky and Brookes have 40 years combined experience in TV between them, with past credits including Love Island, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Eurovision and past employers including ITV Studios and Seven Studios.
They were most recently running the UK label of Dutch/Belgian unscripted producer Vincent TV, which Deadline revealed in October 2021.
“Our aim for Rebel Rebel is to create some of the most imaginative shows on television with global reach,” said Shalgosky. “We are great believers in creating big formats and strive to craft shows that are so iconic, they can be recognised instantly, even with the sound turned down.
