The life and times of Hector Valle (secretly CJ Cassidy)
Okay, what have done in the last 25 years? Well, in no particular order, because frankly some things overlapped and I lost track of what happened when.
After years of being a radio and club DJ back in the 70s; I wrote, produced and directed my first play; 'The Book of Job - A Rock/Gospel Opera'. The script was taken directly from 'The Book of Job'. I used popular secular music to represent Satan and gospel music to represent the voice of God. The play was filmed in one shot with one camera. (Oh yeah, I also played the part of Satan.)
I wrote and published; 'The Rapture Trilogy'; a story based on the lives of three individuals left behind after the rapture. That novel took me 25 years to write and publish and was my very first published novel. I followed that novel with 'The Rapture Chronicles'.
I wrote the screenplay; 'Psychosis Y Dementia - A Love Story' about a 400-year demon of retribution that is revived by the blood of an innocent victim and falls in love with her daughter. I adapted the screenplay into a graphic novel (never released) and expanded it into a seven-novel series available from Amazon and Kindle. I appeared as the main character at several comic conventions and have been interviewed by vloggers and major networks alike. My interviews and photos have reached all over the world. You can Google it. I filmed and edited the trailer for the novel in the hopes the film could still be made.
I was asked to write a biography of a woman that endured physical and emotional abuse by her lovers and how she triumphed over adversity. That erotic novel, was written and published under the pen name 'CJ Cassidy', 4 years before '50 Shades'. It became a trilogy that included her acquaintances. Over 50 women that I know of, got out of or redefined their abusive relationships because of that book series. I have adapted the first novel in the trilogy into a screenplay; 'The Secret Dairy of Katherine Stark'.
My executive director, Yareth Gomez, made a book trailer for the trilogy that has gotten over 30,000 hits in limited release. I have written eight biographies based on real life experiences. Only six were published. I'm hoping to complete one before the end of the year titled; 'Champaign Years, Real Pain Tears'. I have in turn helped other women write their stories of tribulation and triumph and mentored them with their writing careers.
I've written about fifteen erotic novels under the CJ Cassidy pen name. My total of self-published novels in all genres is now over 50. I have ghost written novels and screenplays for other creatives.
I wrote; 'ClownTown - Pop 257' about a town where half the populous wears clown make-up at all times for no reason. It's not a comedy or horror. It's a dystopian modern-day western that is a microcosm of the world as it is today. Instead of cowboys and Indians, it's Clownies and Norms. That book is now an eight-novel series. I created and edited the book trailer for that project as well.
I wrote the Rom/Com; 'The Switch' in seven days. Based on an event that happened to a college friend, the story is a cross between 'Three's Company' and 'Victor/Victoria' with a little 'Tootsie' thrown in. The premise is about a woman that portrays herself to be a man with hilarious and poignant repercussions. I also made a book trailer for that novel.
I've hosted a competition on-line where I 'challenged' world famous authors to write in tandem with me for one hour, live, for bragging rights. 'Tell-Tale-Hearts' had three successful 12-episode seasons on Facebook and was popular all around the world.
When we ran out of authors to challenge for 'Tell-Tale-Hearts', I hosted two 'Matinee' writes, one on Wednesday, the other on Friday, where I wrote a short story based on a random photo given to me by my executive producer. About sixty short stories in different genres have been written for the events. I plan to turn those stories into webisodes to be aired on Vimeo OTT, a subscriber service.
After taking Shonda Rhimes' Masterclass, I started a writing prompt there called; 'The Hemingway Challenge' where I dare writers to write a complete story in only six words based on a random picture that I post.
And in my spare time, I've worked on over 55 other scripts and novels in various stages of completion.
Oh yeah, I wrote a children's book; 'The Wonderful World of Kittenz and Giggles' about a monkey and an orphaned kitten that he finds stuck in a tree and brings home. I hope to continue that series in the future.
I have written a Hallmark styled romance; 'Kari Me Home for Christmas' and wrote 'A Christmas Carousel' which is a mash-up of 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Groundhog Day'.
I have written; 'The 'Aught've Biography' about a 15-year-old cancer patient that is kidnapped from her hospital to complete her bucket list. That script is now being considered by actress Rebekah Kennedy for the lead role.
I have written; 'The Alpha Protocol'; an action/adventure about a computer needed to save the world but falls into the hands of an introverted teen-age girl.
I have four horror scripts that I am presently working on.
If I had to describe myself in one word it would be; 'Doesn't follow instructions'.
Wow, 25 years of my career as a writer in a page and a half. I hope I didn't forget anything.
