“Feud: Capote vs. The Swans” pits the incendiary author Truman Capote against a “gaggle” of New York socialites, but there is one “swan” that is truly at the heart of the roost, namely, Babe Paley, played by Naomi Watts. Since Babe is the closest of all the women to the writer, his betrayal of the group in 1975 in his scathing “Esquire” excerpt from his unfinished novel “Answered Prayers” hits her the hardest, and the other swans rally to her defense to ice the “In Cold Blood” scribe out of the upper echelons of society.
What makes the relationship between Babe and Truman so compelling—in addition to the performances of Watts and Tom Hollander—is how much we see of their friendship blossoming. The entire opening sequence of the season shows Capote comforting and strategizing with Babe over how to handle the latest and most disgraceful of her husband Bill’s (Treat Williams) infidelities.

Jodie Foster is fast becoming a sure thing for a Best Supporting Actress nomination at this year’s Oscars and her status as Golden Globe favorite for “Nyad” only boosts that theory.
Foster c0-stars in this Netflix biopic which charts Diana Nyad’s attempts to swim across the 110-mile open ocean from Cuba to Florida. Annette Bening takes on the titular role while Foster features as Nyad’s coach and friend, Bonnie Stoll. Foster arguably has the meatier role out of the two as the entire climax of the film features Bening’s Nyad swimming, largely without dialogue. That leaves Foster’s Stoll as the narrative anchor and the actress delivers a supporting turn that feels like a co-lead (this is something Oscar voters love in this category but we’ll get back to that later). Critics love Foster’s performance, too.

What's that line from "Wicked?" Something about "getting your dreams, it's strange but it seems a little, well, complicated." Right. It comes to mind whenever I think about Disney, and especially whenever I'm made to think about its underrated archvillain CEO, Bob Iger.
You see, the Walt Disney Company is currently harvesting fruit from the seeds Iger planted way back in 2005, when he first succeeded Michael Eisner as CEO. Eisner was nothing if not exacting and dictatorial as chief landlord of the House of Mouse, but it's hard not to have some nostalgia for his tenure. Put simply, Iger's biggest change once he stepped in was pivoting the focus from quality to quantity. With a wave of his wand, the days of carefully constructed, meticulously brainstormed, sensibly timed animated feature releases dissipated, and in came a new era of cheap and dirty overproduction.
This isn't my interpretation. Iger has said...

Domhnall Gleeson looks set to earn his first-ever Emmy nomination this year for his killer turn in the FX on Hulu limited series “The Patient,” opposite Steve Carell. The story follows Carell as Alan Strauss, a therapist mourning the death of his wife, who takes on a new patient — Gleeson’s unhinged Sam Fortner. However, Sam turns out to be a serial killer and he kidnaps Alan and holds him prisoner, forcing the therapist to help him overcome his murderous urges.
As Sam, Gleeson lets loose in what is a delicious performance. He clearly has fun in this role and matches Carell beat for beat. He is menacing, unnerving, pitiful, dangerous, and almost sympathetic. It’s a masterful performance from Gleeson and he never goes overboard into hammy territory, which would be easy to do with a role such as this. Critics have all praised Gleeson for his work here,...
