Steven Spielberg will once again tackle the world of aliens in an upcoming project. The veteran filmmaker, who helmed the UFO-themed film Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977, is exploring the subject with an exciting new storyline.

Steven Spielberg Shares His Own Theory About UFOs
During an interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, director Steven Spielberg extensively talked about his fascination with aliens and UFOs. He admitted not ever seeing one in person, but that doesn’t take away the fact that he perceives there is something out there.

Now it has become “Oppenheimer,” the destroyer of doubts.
On Tuesday, Christopher Nolan’s drama debuted in Paris, meaning the lid has been officially raised on one of the year’s most-anticipated projects. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the early response from those critics and journalists who have seen “Oppenheimer” is effusive.
“Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is truly a spectacular achievement, in its truthful, concise adaptation, inventive storytelling and nuanced performances from Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, and the many, many others involved —- some just for a scene,” Lindsay Bahr from the Associated Press wrote on Twitter. “It’s hard to talk about something as dense as this in something as silly as a tweet or thread but ‘Oppenheimer’ really is a serious, philosophical, adult drama that’s as tense and exciting as ‘Dunkirk.’ And the big moment – That Moment – is awe-inspiring.”

The arrival of a new Christopher Nolan movie is always an event and the upcoming Oppenheimer looks to be no exception. The world premiere of Oppenheimer took place in Paris, France earlier today and the first reactions to the movie have begun to emerge on Twitter. To make a long story short, the audience loved it, with critics tossing out every adjective in the book to describe Nolan’s latest epic.
You can check out a handful of the first reactions to Oppenheimer below.
Christopher Nolan’s #Oppenheimer is fantastic – big & bold w/ electrifying performances & an incredibly visceral pacing to it. The first reactions to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer have dropped following a world premiere in Paris. Following the nearly three-hour screening, critics are praising Cillian Murphy’s performance and calling the film “awe-inspiring,” “staggering” and a “spectacular achievement.”
Total Film editor Matt Maytum said the film left him “stunned” and called Cillian Murphy’s performance “sublime.” “An epic historical drama but with a distinctly Nolan sensibility: the tension, structure, sense of scale, startling sound design, remarkable visuals. Wow,” he added.

Tom Cruise is back in theaters with the latest installment of Mission: Impossible and the initial reactions of the film following its world premiere in Rome are in.
Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also co-wrote the film alongside Erik Jendresen. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Czerny.
Journalists that attended the premiere in Italy have taken to social media buzzing about the action flick with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff calling it “another winner for the franchise.”
“Yet again, the production value is Through The Roof with some of the most well-defined and exhilarating set pieces photographed in ways that truly make you feel like you’re in the middle of the action. The emphasis on capturing things in camera makes a Huge difference, and you can feel it,” Nemiroff tweeted.

The world has anxiously been awaiting the release of Tom Cruise’s latest series of death-defying stunts, and judging by the first reactions to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One… we’ve got a hell of an action film to look forward to. Although Dead Reckoning is the first part of a two-part story, it sounds as though it holds its own as a solid movie. I can’t wait to see this one on the big screen for myself. Tom Cruise rarely disappoints.
Check out the first reactions to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One below! We’ll keep this updated as more reactions come in from its premiere in Rome.
#MissionImpossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is fantastic.
Dynamite, timely story. Excellent new characters. Huge variety of action and a final set piece that ranks top 2-3 all-time for the franchise.

You’ve all seen Tom Cruise drive a motorcycle off a cliff in the first trailer, and the second, for ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.’ Now, the first reactions from critics are here and they are strong, if not quite as strong as they were for “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” the beloved most recent installment from 2018. But they are mostly shouting their praise as if they were Cruise himself yelling (rightly) on set about the importance of Covid safety.
IndieWire’s own Executive Editor of Film, Kate Erbland, said it did the “best job yet of recent ‘part 1 of 2!!’ features in feeling like its own film while setting up for the next half.” That alone is worthy of praise because many of these films have struggled with this, ever since “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1” inaugurated the form in 2011.

"The Super Mario Bros. Movie" adapts Nintendo's beloved video game franchise about the mustachioed Italian-American plumber who fights evil turtles as much as he does clogged toilets (if not more). This is the first film adaptation of the "Super Mario" games in 30 years, the last attempt being the infamous 1993 live-action film "Super Mario Bros."
That film took some nightmarish creative liberties with the character designs, using practical effects to try and recreate the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom in live action. The 2023 film from Illumination Entertainment, however, uses CG animation. As a result, the ensemble — even the inhuman characters like Bowser (Jack Black) and Donkey Kong (Seth Rogen) — look more or less identical to their video game appearances. Even so, the film has been met with reticence, due to the controversial casting of celebrity voice actor -- in particular Chris Pratt as Mario. The actor even acknowledged the backlash...

Back in the early ’90s, nerdy kids across the world thrilled at the sight of Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo wearing robot boots and standing in front of a giant metal “M.” No, we did not understand how, exactly, those blue and gray images correlated to our favorite red and green plumbers on our Nintendo systems. But we could accept some deviation in the adaptation. After all, as the tagline promised, “This ain’t no game.”
Three decades later, we’ve learned to process our collective trauma of seeing our favorite video game turned into a cyberpunk dystopian tale that made us feel things we weren’t old enough to understand. But the promise of a new Super Mario Bros. movie has reopened those old wounds. Would this version bring back nightmarish images of the heroes dancing behind giant-bodied Goombas? Would our children, too young to have lived through the...

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves premiered on Friday at SXSW and the early reviews are praising the characters, creatures, action, and even humor. When "Shazam!" first flew into theaters in 2019, the young-at-heart hero was a breath of fresh air. After being called upon by an ancient wizard, 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel) gained unbelievable powers as the adult superhero, Shazam (Zachary Levi). And as any teen boy would, he immediately put those powers to excellent use by skipping school, wreaking (accidental) havoc, and bonding with his foster brother, Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer).
At the time, "Shazam!" was a surprisingly pleasant entry in the lackluster DC Extended Universe. And though it found interesting ways to integrate horror, it veered away from the grim Snyder-era films with its distinct sense of humor. Between being genuinely great and earning plenty of love, a sequel was inevitable. Four years and a complete upheaval of the Dceu later, the Shazamily has returned for "Shazam! Fury of the Gods"! And based on the early buzz, they're more magical than ever.

Michael Douglas is one of the big stars of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but some fans are worried if he’ll return if there’s another installment in the Marvel series. The actor recently revealed his answer to whether or not he would be in a fourth Ant-Man movie.
Michael Douglas’ role in the ‘Ant-Man’ movies Michael Douglas attends Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania” at Regency Village Theatre on February 06, 2023 in Los Angeles, California. | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Douglas plays Hank Pym in the Ant-Man movies. Hank is an entomologist and quantum physicist who created the formula for “Pym particles.” These particles are what allow Ant-Man (and the Wasp) to grow and shrink.
Hank was the original Ant-Man before passing the baton to Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd. He works alongside Scott, his daughter Hope van Dyne, and his wife Janet van Dyne, continuing to create new scientific inventions.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania might seem like a weird movie to kick off Phase 5 of the MCU. The Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) solo movies have been wholesome family capers to date, with the first movie focusing on Lang’s path from recently-released small time criminal to budding superhero, and the second building up the Ant-Fam’s bond while they endeavored to help a suffering woman called Ava Starr, who was putting others in danger.
The third film has a bigger agenda, though. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Lang and co. pulled into the Quantum Realm and Kang the Conqueror’s (Jonathan Majors) domain. The villain and his many Variants will be the big bad(s) of Phases 5 and 6, and judging from the trailers and clips that Marvel has revealed so far, this threequel will be a much more serious and deadly affair...

Over a decade after the first Avatar movie set records at the global box office, sequel Avatar: The Way of Water is about to finally hit theaters on December 16. It seems like a long time since we first met Jake Sully and Neytiri on Pandora as they fought off the moon’s human colonizing forces together, but this kind of delay is not without precedent for the film’s director James Cameron, as he had originally intended the first movie to be released back in 1999 as his next project following Titanic. However, the technology just wasn’t up to scratch for Cameron’s vision, and it would be a decade later in 2009 that Avatar arrived on screens, many of them utilizing big advances in 3D viewing.
It may be true that Avatar has made an eye-watering amount of money since its original release – almost 3 billion to date – but the long-in-development...

"Avatar: The Way of Water" already looked like a stunning adventure, and its extensive filming process looked like an absolute blast. People online can argue about whether or not the first film has any cultural relevancy all they want, but one thing is clear — good ol' James Cameron and the awe-inspiring world of Pandora are here to stay, whether the public wants them or not.
Thankfully, it sounds like the public will absolutely want to continue exploring Pandora and all of its worlds. The first press screenings for "The Way of Water" have finished, which means we have started to get the first immediate reactions to the long-awaited film. If you've been praying to Eywa that the sequel will be a visual spectacle full of heart and thrills, then your prayers have been answered.

The first press reactions to Avatar: The Way of Water are in, and the response is largely gushing.
The long-long awaited sequel to director James Cameron’s fantasy epic is being called better than the 2009 original in both its story and its cutting-edge visual effects.
While some chided Cameron for the film’s length (it is more than three hours) or took issue with its myriad of characters and storylines, most seemed impressed — even overwhelmed — by the film’s underwater visuals.
Here is a sample of reactions now that the film’s social media embargo has lifted for journalists who saw screenings of the film, as well as from those attending Tuesday’s London premiere (full critic reviews will be posted Dec. 13):
Mike Ryan of Uproxx: “Yeah never bet against James Cameron. Trying to spare hyperbole, but I’ve never seen anything like this from a technical,...

Few sequels come with more question marks — or higher stakes — than “Avatar: The Way of Water.” James Cameron’s sequel comes 13 years after the original “Avatar” became the highest movie of all time (a record that has since been broken), and many have wondered if anyone still cares about what happens on the planet Pandora.
To make his sequel, which is primarily set in the oceans of Pandora, Cameron had to spend years developing new technology that would allow him to film motion capture sequences under water. The high costs of doing that inflated the film’s budget to the point where Cameron expects it will have to be one of the top five highest grossing movies of all time just to break even.
But Cameron isn’t concerned about the film’s ability to find an audience. In a recent interview, he cited the success of “Aliens” and “Terminator...

After 13 years of anticipation, James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” has finally been unveiled for members of the press following the movie’s world premiere in London. The first reactions to the film are overwhelmingly positive, with many journalists blown away once again by Cameron’s boundless imagination and pristine visual effects.
“Happy to say ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ is phenomenal,” wrote Fandango’s Erik Davis. “Bigger, better & more emotional than ‘Avatar,’ the film is visually breathtaking, visceral and incredibly engrossing. The story, the spectacle, the spirituality, the beauty – this is moviemaking & storytelling at its absolute finest.”
“Happy Sad Confused” host Josh Horowitz raved, “James Cameron once again shows filmmakers how it’s done. I’ve said it a thousand times. Never doubt him. ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ is how you do epic blockbuster-ing. Emotional, visceral and as big as movies get.”
“I had faith James...

Whether you’ve been eager to return to Pandora or not, it’s safe to say that we’ve had an awfully long wait for Avatar: The Way of Water, the first of multiple sequels to James Cameron’s epic sci-fi saga. The first reactions to Avatar: The Way of Water have emerged and it sounds like James Cameron has done it again.
Just saw #AvatarTheWayOfWater – will certainly divide people as there are some cheesy bits But James Cameron is a master and you really do, utterly invest in the characters, and nothing else comes close to being this immersive. I was cool on the original but I loved this.

Really enjoyed #AvatarTheWayOfWater about as much as the first movie. Stunning visuals and a story that you can tell Cameron has been wanting to tell for ages. But it does feel like Cameron has one more left and not multiple sequels.

The Oscar race for Best Actress is shaping up to be a close one, so it’s no surprise that the SAG Awards race is a close call too. Perhaps surprisingly, though, they appear to be leaning in different directions. While the Expert journalists we’ve surveyed favor Cate Blanchett (“Tar”) to win at the Academy Awards, Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) has a slight advantage at the SAG Awards.
As of this writing four out of eight Experts who have chimed in so far (with more to come) are predicting Yeoh: Erik Davis (Fandango), Joyce Eng (Gold Derby), Tim Gray (Variety), and Susan Wloszczyna (Gold Derby). Meanwhile, Susan King (Gold Derby) and Peter Travers (ABC) are predicting Blanchett. Christopher Rosen (Gold Derby) is betting on Michelle Williams (“The Fabelmans”). And Tariq Khan (Fox TV) is going out on a limb for Naomi Ackie (“I Wanna Dance with Somebody...

The Oscar race for Best Supporting Actor is one of the most uncertain of the year. Paul Dano (“The Fabelmans“) led initially, but once the film premiered his co-star Judd Hirsch started to take some of his momentum, and an actor from a different film took over the lead in Expert journalists’ odds: Ke Huy Quan in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” It would be only the second win in the category by an Asian actor (following Haing S. Ngor for “The Killing Fields”), and the first for an actor of Vietnamese descent.

Once upon a time, Black Adam was simply meant to be a one-off villain in a "Shazam!" movie. Now, the largely unknown hero will have his own day on the silver screen, and wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is taking on the role in a much bigger way.
The upcoming "Black Adam" film follows a mortal slave who was given the powers of the gods, but used them for vengeance — for which he was entombed, becoming Black Adam. When he is freed 5,000 years later, he finds out exactly how he wants to get justice.
There's no denying that DC hasn't had as smooth of an on-screen journey as Marvel has. DC fans are a little beaten down at this point, and all they want is a film they can believe in and love wholeheartedly. Naturally, this has fans dying to know if "Black Adam" is worth the wait — and it...

It’s almost here! The long promised Black Adam movie, starring Dwayne Johnson in a role that the actor has spent over a decade preparing for, has finally screened for critics and a handful of fans. And the response so far? Well, we’ll call it mixed but positive. Early viewers are praising Black Adam as an action-packed spectacle, one that is packed to the absolute gills with DC Comics and Dceu lore, and Johnson’s performance, while singling out the writing and pacing something of a mixed bag.
That all seems fair enough. Black Adam has a hill to climb as a movie based on one of the more obscure characters in the DC pantheon, not to mention one of the less explored corners of the DC Universe as a whole. Still, Warner Bros. is betting big on both the film and Johnson’s star power, not to mention...
