MrBeast is reportedly ending his exclusive relationship with management company Night.
Two people familiar with the matter told Semafor that “in recent days,” MrBeast–aka Jimmy Donaldson–told Night it will no longer be his primary manager. He will apparently still remain with Night in some capacity, but will shift some aspects of his business to other management companies in the creator industry.
We reached out to Night for comment on the veracity of the report, but haven’t heard back. Night told Semafor it expects to have an ongoing relationship with Donaldson, if not an exclusive one.
Donaldson began working with Night founder/CEO Reed Duchscher in February 2018, and announced his official signing with Night in January 2019. According to Semafor‘s sources, the split is caused by friction stemming from Duchscher’s refusal to move Night operations from its headquarters in Austin to Donaldson’s hometown of Greenville, North Carolina,...

Before she was the creator, writer, and star of the hit ABC sitcom Abbott Elementary, funnywoman Quinta Brunson was an employee at BuzzFeed and a contributor to the media company’s network of digital channels. Ahead of the long-awaited season three premiere of Abbott, Brunson returned to BuzzFeed alongside her castmates to complete one of the brand’s signature quizzes.
Brunson established herself on her personal channels on YouTube and Instagram before joining BuzzFeed in 2015. Through her regular appearances in the company’s YouTube videos — alongside other breakout stars like Safiya Nygaard, Michelle Khare, and The Try Guys — she unlocked new creative opportunities. In 2016, she created and starred in Broke, which was one of the first originals to launch on the service then known as YouTube Red. (It’s called YouTube Premium now.)

Just as Hollywood talent agencies aim to pick off boutique firms to bolster their client lists, a newer crop of influencer-based companies are also looking for deals to scale up. One of those firms, the Reed Duchscher-run Night, which has a management division that touts itself as the home of YouTube influencer Jimmy Donaldson (aka MrBeast), is set to grow by acquisition.
Night stated Friday it is acquiring Lfm, a New York-based management firm focused on influencers that includes YouTube and Twitch creator Kai Cenat among its 10 clients. Lfm founder John Nelson will join Night as vp talent and will bring along three of his employees as part of the deal (terms of which weren’t disclosed). The roster of Night appears to have grown substantially in a few years: in 2020, Duchscher said the company had 10 clients, several of them YouTube stars, it now lists about 65, not including those from the Lfm acquisition.

Reed Duchscher sees a bright future for U.S.-based creators — but he also thinks they should be wary about working with TikTok. Duchscher, who is the CEO of management firm Night, talked about CPMs, TikTok bans, and other hot-button issues in a “state of the creator economy” memo.
Duchscher sent the memo to Night’s partner creators — a group that includes YouTube big shots like MrBeast and Safiya Nygaard — before sharing it publicly on his LinkedIn profile. “With VidCon beginning this week I thought it would be a fitting time to share Night’s Pov on the state of the creator economy,” the Night CEO wrote.
Much of Duchscher’s analysis focuses on two tech giants: YouTube and TikTok. He advises creators to be wary about their investments on the latter platform, since its “constantly changing algorithm” could cause problems for those who are “overly reliant” on it.

The Vanwives have tied the knot with Night.
Back in 2019, Canadian couple Crystal Drinkwalter and Jazmyn Canning poured around 25,000 into outfitting a giant van with everything it needed to become a tiny home on wheels. Once it was ready to roll, they packed up their dogs Bella and Izzy and set out to drive from Canada through the U.S. to Argentina.
They were a ways into the U.S. when “someone was like, ‘You need to start capturing what you’re doing. You’re doing some amazing things,'” Drinkwalter and Canning tell Tubefilter.
“We bought a camera in Las Vegas, to be honest,” they add. “We started shooting videos and it turned out people ended up liking them, and we liked it, and we got really into the filmmaking aspect and storytelling.”

One of the cool things about the internet is that it has made it possible for ‘regular’ people to build audiences all over the world. Thanks to social media, people can become famous without ever technically getting into the entertainment industry. Safiya Nygaard’s rise as a successful YouTuber is proof. Safiya initially rose to internet fame after leaving her job at Buzzfeed in 2017. She posted a video titled “Why I Left Buzzfeed” that has since gotten almost 14 million views. The video catapulted Safiya’s career as a content creator and she has been on the rise ever since. Her

After debuting in June 2016, the longest-running original series in YouTube history has just put out a mysterious tease for its fourth season.
Vlogger Joey Graceffa’s lightly-scripted murder mystery series Escape The Night -- which brings together a slew of top YouTube creators, who portray different characters and attempting to stay alive by solving various challenges and puzzles -- will return on July 11.
Graceffa serves as both creator and star of the show, and past seasons have featured the likes of Safiya Nygaard, Jesse Wellens, and Manny Mua. The teaser for season four that Graceffa shared today -- alongside a caption that reads ‘Be careful what you wish for’ -- sees the bespectacled star walking in the dark with a torch in hand, whereupon he suddenly throws an object at the camera (though it’s unclear what).

Emma Chamberlain, this year’s Streamy winner for 'Breakout Creator' -- has launched her first merch line. And if the 17-year-old’s past ventures in the apparel industry are any indication, she’s poised to clock some seriously impressive sales stats.
Chamberlain announced the venture yesterday in a video (see below) that doubled as an apartment tour. At launch, only two items are available -- a T-shirt with a drawing of a misshapen face ($25) and a hoodie with drawing of Chamberlain's crying eyes and the caption ‘Sad Boi Hour’ ($40). Less than 24 hours after unveiling the items, the T-shirts have already sold out, according to Chamberlain’s online shop, though hoodies still appear to be available.
Chamberlain partnered with Mad Merch on the venture, which has also created merch collections for fellow YouTube megastars like Liza Koshy, Safiya Nygaard, Alex Wassabi, and Lilly 'Superwoman' Singh.

For the third time in as many years, a gaggle of top YouTube stars will have to Escape The Night. A trailer has arrived for the third season of Joey Graceffa's murder-mystery-comedy-period piece, which this time will be set among the jaunty ascots and polyester fabrics of the 70s.
The first season of Escape The Night, which premiered in 2016 and ultimately snagged a Streamy Award for its ensemble cast, took place during the Jazz Age. For season two, Graceffa and co traded that environment for a more Victorian vibe. Now, in season three, which was announced in late May, the setting is the 70s. The cast, revealed on May 31, will have to solve a whodunit caper in a small town. Featured players will include Graceffa, Matthew Patrick, Rosanna Pansino, Jc Caylen, Colleen Ballinger, Teala Dunn, Manny Mua, Safiya Nygaard, Guava Juice, and Nikita Dragun, all of whom have millions...
