Jeff Ryan, Scott Cohen, Katerina Tannenbaum, Geneva Carr and Will Chase will star in “Mooch.” The crime comedy was also written and directed by Ryan, whose credits include “Mean Spirited” and “YouthMin.”
The filmmakers received an interim agreement to work on this independent production during last year’s SAG-Afrtra strike. It recently wrapped production in Lexington, Mass.
The movie focuses on a 30-year-old caddy named Shane (Ryan), who winds up with an unexpected gig as a personal private eye for a New Jersey nightclub owner. Even though he inches closer to realizing his ambitions, his personal life spirals out of control.
“When I was in high school, my friend’s dad told me I was going to fail in life because I was a ‘Mooch,’” said Ryan. “Making this film was a dream come true, and I am proud to put my dirty laundry on screen for all to enjoy.

If you cross paths with Crystal Moselle, be warned, she might make a movie of your life. It’s what the New York-based filmmaker did when she met the shut-in family portrayed in her disturbing 2015 documentary and Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner “The Wolfpack.” She repeated the feat with a girl skater crew she met on the subway, which turned into the delightful 2018 feature “Skate Kitchen.” The HBO series “Betty” is the spin-off of that film and shares the “Skate Kitchen” cast and well as its combination Instagram Story-meets-surf-style photography. It also features Moselle’s impeccable taste in music, amplified by her longtime collaborator, composer Aska Matsumiya.
Moselle and Matsumiya have been working together for the last 12 years. “It started with us being close friends and not having other resources,” says Matsumiya. Moselle’s process, in practice for a number of brand campaigns and short films, such as “That One...

It’s one and done for Aj and the Queen. The series has been canceled after one season on Netflix. Series creator and star RuPaul Charles confirmed the news on Twitter Friday.
“End of the road for ‘Aj and The Queen,’” RuPaul wrote. “Netflix has decided to not extend our trip across America. Thank you for all the love & support. We’re so very proud of the work.”
The series hailed from Charles and 2 Broke Girls co-creator and former Sex and the City showrunner Michael Patrick King.
Written by King and Charles, the series starred RuPaul as Ruby Red, a bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck drag queen who travels across America from club to club in a rundown 1990s Rv with her unlikely sidekick Aj (Izzy G), a recently orphaned, tough-talking, scrappy 9-year-old stowaway. It’s the end of the road for Aj and the Queen. Netflix has canceled the RuPaul-led comedy series after just one season.
Aj the Queen starred RuPaul Charles as Robert Lee (aka “Ruby Red”), whose dreams of opening his own drag club were dashed when his con-artist boyfriend (played by Josh Segarra) made off with his life savings. Hoping to leave the drama behind him, Robert hit the road for a cross-country drag tour, unaware that a pint-sized grifter named Aj (played by newcomer Izzy G.) had stowed away in the back of his Rv.

As an avid fan of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, I was tremendously excited when it was announced that RuPaul would be staring in a new Netflix show titled Aj and the Queen and it certainly didn’t disappoint. This series follows a down on his kick drag performer Robert who performs as Ruby Red (played by Ru Paul Charles) as he somehow ends up with a ten-year-old stowaway as he tours America trying to rebuild his life.
As you can imagine, Aj and the Queen is a show that contains a lot of Drag Queens – which is fantastic for representation and empowerment for viewers and encourages them to live their best life. It is an incredible thing that drag has made it into a mainstream...

If hope is the ugliest word, then hopelessness must be the runner-up. Sweetbitter Season 1 Episode 5 shows us just what hopelessness can drive people to do.
Ella Purnell (Tess), Daniyar (Sasha), and Katerina Tannenbaum had a big part in turning this episode into pure gold.
Their emotions, their pain, and their chaos were so wonderfully executed on-screen that they got a tear or two out of me. Exceptional work on an insanely good episode about an insane night.
However, you know what they say: there's a thin line between genius and insanity.
Let's break down the episode together, shall we?
The first scene where Will yells at Tess for making everything about her seemed strange on multiple levels. We don't get much of Tess's personal thoughts unless she talks to someone else.
In actuality, Sweetbitter has been using Tess's eyes and creeper skills to reveal the other stories surrounding her because...
