Jigsaw finally returns in Saw X and like any good sequel, the movie probably won’t be the last installment of the long-running franchise.
While speaking with SFX Magazine (via GamesRadar), Saw X director Kevin Greutert discussed the future of the franchise. “There’s no obvious new direction to go after this film,” he said. “But I think there probably will be more Saw movies, particularly if this one’s successful.“
As Saw X takes place between the events of the first two movies, it likely won’t be planting any seeds for a future sequel as Greutert said that it will be building “more on what’s in the past.” The director added, “I truly believe that this is the most standalone Saw film since the first one. It’s not about knowing or remembering anything about the previous films. It’s a richer experience if you know about...

John “Jigsaw” Kramer, played once again by Tobin Bell, is front and center in the upcoming Saw sequel Saw X – which is indeed the tenth installment in the franchise, but takes place between the events of the first movie and Saw II. Director Kevin Greutert, who previously directed Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter, has said that we’ll be seeing more of Jigsaw in this new movie than in any other Saw movie… and due to its place in the timeline, we’ll also be seeing the return of Shawnee Smith as his protégé Amanda Young. That’s why a new promo posted on the official Saw social media account celebrates the fact that we’ll be seeing the return of Amanda when Saw X reaches theatres on September 29th:

Coming to theaters on September 29, tenth franchise installment Saw X celebrates the 20th anniversary of the franchise with a direct sequel to the original classic. Tobin Bell is back as Jigsaw, who is still very much alive at this stage on the timeline, and director Kevin Greutert promises in a new chat with Empire that he takes center stage this time around.
“Kramer is the centre of the story,” Kevin Greutert tells Empire, who goes on to explain that Saw X will feature John Kramer aka Jigsaw “more than in any other Saw.”
Greutert elaborates, “[Saw X] is an emotional journey that you go on with John Kramer, and less a slaughterhouse that you experience from the point of view of the victims.” He also notes during his chat with Empire, “Obviously there will be people that can’t handle it, but I think it has a good chance of...

The new film in the Saw franchise – which is going by the title Saw X since it’s the tenth installment – is set to reach theatres on September 29th, and it’s said to be the longest Saw movie yet. Judging by the rating it has just received from the Motion Picture Association, it sounds like it’s going to be delivering plenty of the stuff Saw fans want to see over the course of that extended running time, as it has earned an R rating for sequences of grisly bloody violence and torture, language and some drug use. The frequently used tagline has been “If it’s Halloween, it must be Saw“, but it could just as easily be “If it’s grisly bloody violence and torture, it must be Saw“.
