Juan Martin Torruco was born on May 13, 1988 in Mexico City, on the same street in which years ago filmmaker Jorge Fons was born.
From an early age he was a lonely kid with a great imagination, his first approaches to the cinemas were given by Disney's animated films, that's how the dark room became one of his favorite places.
At age of 22 he completed his academic training with a Bachelor in Business Administration at ITESM. At the end, he decided to devote his time to his true passion: the cinema. He studied a diploma in EICTV in Cuba and attended several film clubs in Mexico City, and this is how he managed to open his perception to the seventh art.
A definitive step in his life was his decision to study Film Production in Vancouver Film School.
His great admiration for directors like Haneke, Kieslowski, Cassavetes, etc. has given him a certain style that revolves around the contemplative cinema and entertainment. One of his objectives is to mature that style and become an important director in the Mexican film industry.
